  • I finally tackled that cedar slab I had milled a few months back. This cedar was long dead and on the ground, and dry as a bone. One thing I have noticed about this particular cedar (with the naturally blackened exterior) is that it doesn't warp or twist at all - it's really stable as it's already dead and very dry. This makes it nice to work with.
I have SO many random slabs kicking around from the sawmill, so may as well start playing around with different ways to use them up. Like always, I use what I have and do this with minimal proper tools and I lack a proper workshop, which makes doing these types of projects a bit more tedious and annoying at times. I do see a light at the end of this tunnel though, for a couple of reasons. One is that I know that I can actually do a better job on these things the more I learn and understand carpentry. The other reason is that I am hoping to solve my lack of a proper workshop this upcoming year! 🤩🤞🏼. If I can put this together, then I think anyone can! It's always hard to start something you've never done before, and I never know how anything is going to turn out, but I usually make it work somehow! If not, I guess I can always just stick to my other side hustle! 🤣 🤣 😝🤭
The wax turned out really well. I do really like the finish, I am just not sure how well it will hold up. The wood leg actually looks better than I thought it would, but again, I do think actual metal would look best (but it's kinda fun to cheat! 🤫)
Anyway friends, hope you enjoyed the video. It was fun to put together, and required just a bit more time (hence why it's a late post).
See y'all in the next one!
    M 💝
