    Shokz are great! You can hear road sounds while you're listening to tunes. Small enough to tuck away or even keep wearing them when you're riding with other people. My favourite tunes when I'm riding by myself? Electroswing and Brazilian Batacuda keep me going on the uphills.

      I heard the pro 2s are more of air conduction instead of bone which could make it hard to hear in noisy environment. Is this true?

      Agreed! I love mine on a ride.
      They're the only buds that have survived all the rain and sweat!

    I gave up long ago on chest strap heart rate recording
    Just get a Garmin watch and broadcast your heart rate
    Works perfectly

    MET Rivale helmet is just as good as the MET Trenta at half the cost and the exact weight. Amazing ventilation!

    Yes Met Trenta helmet is great but i can put glasses in and you can normally get it in dales for around £150 if you time it well! Yet again my 2nd helmet and have a Manta too 😂

    I love the two compartment aspect of the Topeak bag, but I agree that the ratchet isn't as useful as a multi-tool plus a Wolftooth pack pliers with quicklink storage.

    Just a quick one on the trenta I’ve had the 3k for about a year now and there is a specific little rubber either side of the helmet where your Oakleys slot in put them in upside down it works a treat…have a look 😉

  • @christianberg1464
    @christianberg1464 Місяць тому +5

    Hi David. Are you sure it’s the Trenta carbon version? Looks rather like the standard one. My 3K carbon Trenta weighs only 224g. And my glasses fit well.

    • @mislevis
      @mislevis Місяць тому

      Different marketplace=different weight. European helmet version are lighter than USA and other. (Less restrictions = lighter helmet)

    Ratchets and bits are dumb to bring on a ride. In 50 years of riding I may have used a 4mm Allen for a slipping seatpost once or twice. Maintain your bike properly before you ride.

    • @BrianRPaterson
      @BrianRPaterson Місяць тому +1

      I find ratchets a liability on a ride. Loose bits get lost easily.
      I'm happy with a quality compact multitool.

    Scosche has a HR monitor for the upper forearm that is accurate and about half the price in the US.

    I buy lights that last but expose are great but expensive and can last 10yrs ! I have also Sense ICON2 which is just as good intelligent links to garmin, 350lux and 15,hrs run time. Had it 5yrs still going strong!

    Surprised you couldn't get your Oakleys secured. The Trenta holds on to them better than any other helmet I own. Size Large helmet, if that makes a difference.

    Hi David, I just bought a Garmin Venu Sq cheap of eBay and use the broadcast HR to my Garmin 1040. Works perectly and is as accurate as my Garmin chest strap HR monitor, Plus I get a fitness tracker/watch with the Garmin Venu Sq for not more than the Corus arm band monitor.

    I've just done away with my pumps (and yeah I used Topeak Pumps for years) (except for maybe a bikepacking trip), I've now gone Electric Pump and CO2 as a backup.

    Pet hate of mine is pumps that can accommodate both presta and the other one. I'm sure presta only would have more resilience against wear and consist of fewer parts which is inherently better...probably.

    About the Topeak saddle bag - can’t you just swop out the multitool if it fit in bottom compartment. I believe the one i comes with is attached with velcro?

  • @frugalcode
    @frugalcode Місяць тому +1

    For long steady rides, the arm band is good enough. For quick bursts, like indoor cycling, it's quite misleading.

  • @stephencharles6932
    @stephencharles6932 Місяць тому

    But Wahoo have a fabulous heart sensor for the arm! Been using mine two years. Agree much preferable to a long chest option. Can wash short strap far easier too.
    *Edit: same Wahoo monitor that comes with two length straps for chest or arm!

    Love my Met Trenta great helmet crashed in my previous one and felt the mips move and not jolt my head which made me buy a new one after, also a fan of the Kask Protone Icon 😊 I use the Coospo HW9 arm band works really well.. and Silca Tatico as it has a lever type valve fitment much better I’ve found than screw on, Cannondale also do a version very good 🚴🏻👍

      MIPS is marvelous. I'm a physician who's involved in brain injury rehab. Every little bit of reduced force transmitted to the brain improves outcome substantially. I know, as I had a crash with a MIPS helmet myself.

    1. Does, or does not the tool kit include a (or an option to have a) torque attachment to the ratchet?
    That was my understanding from a piece olly did on gcn. In which case the rationale for a ratchet tool carries an entirely different value.
    2. I have this pump, it’s hot trash in my view. Incredibly inefficient, one can pump from here until a fortnight past next Tuesday, achieving very mediocre psi levels. Hence, I’ve been a [so far] very satisfied user of co2. The new rechargeable electronic units are probably the way to go.

    OpenRun Pro 2.0 are much worse than its predecessor. They are not loud enough even in an office enviroment. Don't buy and get the predecessor at a much lower price.

    I have had bad luck with pumps that screw on at the valve. They pumped up the tire OK. But when unscrewing it, the valve core also unscrewed.

    • @davidarthur
      @davidarthur  Місяць тому

      So annoying when that happens. What you want to do is make sure the valve core is tight first, using a plastic valve core tool (the proper way) or a pair of pliers (If you're very gentle and careful to not overtightnen). That'll ensure it doesn't unscrew when you unwind the pump head

    I don't understand why one would get a saddle bag too small to fit a minipump... It's uncomfortable and more important DANGEROUS to put it in your back pocket should you fall
