I'm an autistic female, and god it feels like someone is just making fun of me. Everything about the character is awful and hurtful. It feels so infantilizing and like Music isn't even her own person.
You’re right. We get an autistic female in media, which is great, but *this* is the representation that we get? It hurts so, so badly.
It's also telling when we try to explain why its bothers us we get shot down and told to get over it, it's just a movie 😑
Well guess what? Music is based on a friend of Sia's who has autism so she is technically a real person. Please stop acting like a child...
@@absolutelychampagne maybe you should do some research on that so next time you can speak with accurate information.
@@absolutelychampagne you literally just shot down someone with autism expressing that this movie has bad representation.... what

Yeah I feel bad
Thank u for bringing this up i didn't know but now i feel bad for her too kinda
Plus, she was a young teenager...
@@marymiller9034 yeah i remember watching dance moms i totally feel bad for Maddie there were several adults in this making i hope all the blame doesn't go on her a child cuz she's the actress thank u for sharing this btw
And the so called Autistic actress got fired for just being uncomfy
sia honestly did maddie SO dirty. like, that's a kid who literally said NO, and even cried cause she didn't wanna do it. contract or not, sia honestly set maddie up for this.
This is one pretty good example of how someone should stick with what they are originally good at, in the case of Sia she writes and makes music a lot better. 🎶🎵🎶🎵
We’re did she say that ( I just wanna know so I can see)
Please , no matter how Sia music is , this "victim" community should keep away from Sia and her music .
@@rikuhell8076 What victim community?
this movie is mocking disabled people.
Seen this movie its not mocking anyone if anything is labeling anything it's autism awareness itself that month was created by just to label autistic people more
It’s kinda ironic that this movie with all the bright colors and loud sounds might actually make it difficult for people on the spectrum to even watch
right? even the trailer freaking sucks for sensory stuff at least for me
And non speaking autistics are known to have very high sensory sensitivities thus making this pretty much inaccessible for them to watch yet it’s about them and Sia never consulted with one single non speaking autistic about the making of the film.

@@tanithalakai4538 well if she's under a contract and if this movie was made by someone who have helped her career and family so much... and also Sia who was her I guess friend since she was 12 then I think it's inevitable to feel a little pressured into saying good things about the movie even if she isn't comfortable.

It feels creepy at best.
@LifeisaBeautifulting but she's 21 now and this was 2 years ago so how was she 14?

My Sister is Autistic and can confirm they do not act like crackheads
Have you ever seen "For the Love of Gabe" and many other families dealing with non verbal autism in the facebook and youtube community? I am so angered by your comment. Not everyone on the spectrum is verbal and Sia chose to portray someone non verbal. This movie's comments really show me how little people know about autism. Back in the day, the lines were very clear. People with autism were people that acted like MUSIC. Now everyone is on the spectrum....including me. Just because Sia chose to write about her non verbal friend does not mean it does not exist. Do better!!!!
I dislike this film so much because it makes instead of showing the difficulties of being autistic, it shows the difficulties of dealing with someone who is autistic, which is insanely insensitive. Have you seen heartbreak high? they actually got a autistic actor to play the autistic character. And the representation was insanely good. I instantly recognised it and it was very good. For you to say that back in the day all autistic people acted like music is insanely bigoted and ableist and it honestly shocks me. You wanna know why you think that? Its because "back in the day" doctors and psychologists who dealt with these things had very limited information on what autism was, so they thought it was just someone who acted like that. Not all autistic people a non-verbal. I get it, some are. But that doesn't mean they act like this. This literally adds fuel to the fire because what people are gonna take from this is that autistic people are stupid idiots and autism is the worst thing because it ruins lives when that just isn't true.

@@brothlcreeprs yes
Well not to say Sia is right for this but that's literally business. Like if you had a character who has to fight someone throughout the movie and they say the set is too dark and the blood grosses them out, they'd simply replace the actor. So if an actor thinks a musical is too loud and bright they will replace them instead of cater the entire movie to make them feel good.

Leslie Odom Jr's accent may have been offensive? He played a role on Grey's Anatomy. His father was in chronic renal failure. In order to get his father a kidney transplant, his father offered him $10,000 to join a domino kidney transplant. He donated his kidney.
As someone who is currently battling kidney cancer, should I be offended because he pretended to donate a kidney on a fictional show?
People with autism are sometimes oversensitive or undersensitive to sensory information. This means their senses take in either too much or too little information from the environment around them. Not all people with autism have sensory sensitivities, but some might have several.
