    The D700 is still a good camera today. It´s become my main camera cause i love the colours, the fine grain even in low light situations. And it feels unbreakable.. Try it out with a 50mm 1.4D and a 70-300 (AF NIKKOR 70-300mm ED f4-5.6) the results will not dissapoint you! Best regards from europe 📸📸

      @mathiasanders3946 Thank you so much for watching my video! I am very excited to start using my D700. I don't have the 50mm 1.4D, but it might be a lens I will have to think about getting. I actually have the 70-300mm ED f4-5.6 lens I used it to take the pictures in my firework video with this camera and it worked so well. Than you so much for the recommendations I really appreciate you sharing! It not only helps me but it helps others too!
      Best regards, hope all is well!

    The shutter count of my D700 is under 15,000. I bought it second hand for a substantial amount of money years ago, but it came with an array of lenses and filters, a bag, an SB-900 and even a heavy but super steady tripod, and that package is worth every penny I spent on it. I love the performance of that camera, the image and build quality are amazing, even compared to the actual Nikon Z mirrorless cameras.
    I use my D700 only for portrait and landscape photography to preserve it. Being someone who loves nature, I mainly do wildlife and macro photography, so the 1.5 crop factor of her little sister, the D300, suits me even better. But again, the results of the D700 are simply beautiful. The Colors, the dynamic range, but also the handling of the Nikon cameras are really something else. Every parameter can be adjusted with buttons on the body, no menu diving is required to quickly get your settings right.
    So, to summarize: if you have fine Nikon lenses and you can get hold of a D700 with a low(er) shutter count, buy it and you won't regret it.

      @rakutzimbel4539 Thank you for sharing your experience with your D700. It sounds like you found a really nice setup second hand, it may have cost a bit, but having it I'm sure has been worth it. I too found one with a lower shutter count and feel to be very lucky that I have. I understand wanting to preserve your camera as much as possible and only use it for portrait and landscape photography, its defiantly a good idea. The camera is one of a kind and unfortunately will never be made again. Thank you for watching my video. I really appreciate it! I hope all is well!

    It took me about 1 year to find a good deal on a D700 but the wait was worth it. The D700 is a legend for a reason, the image output is stunning. The D3, the D700 and the D300 all have outstanding images because the sensors were designed by Nikon, and built by a subsidiary of Panasonic. The software for these 3 cameras was matched to the sensors. One of the most under rated Nikon lenses out there is the little plastic 28-80mm f3.3 - f5.6 G. Nikon put their best lens designer in charge of developing it. Sure it is a "kit" lens, but it is a lens with outstanding performance. The lens has only 6 elements in it. The same number as the 50mm f1.8. The whole idea behind putting so much effort in the lens was to give the new Nikon user the best optics possible for their first Nikon experience. The best part is you can get one used, in great shape, for around $40

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  11 місяців тому +1

      @dominicwroblewski5832 That's awesome that you were able to finally find a good deal on the D700! That's a long time to wait but I am happy you were able to finally find one. I completely agree with you on the image quality of the D3, D700, and D300/s. Nikon really did their homework when they were deciding on what sensor to use for these cameras. I'll have to check out the 28-80mm f3.3 - f5.6 G lens and see if I can find one in great condition. It sounds like they put a lot of time and research into making that lens. Thank you for the info about the lens. Hope all is well.

    I own a couple of these cameras along with a D3s and they are excellent. I got good deals with shutter counts lower than 7K. I usually use a 24-85 or 28-105 lens on it along with a few primes. Be sure to insert the CF card gently because if you bend the pins, game over.

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  11 місяців тому +1

      @edc5338 I can't wait to use mine more and see what it can do. It's been so hot its hard to get out and use it here in So-Cal. My go to lens is the 28-105mm actually. I bought it for my Nikon D7000 and love how that lens performs. I will have to look into getting a 24-85mm. I have heard many great things about that lens. Thank you for sharing your recommendations I really appreciate it, and thank you for the info I will keep that in mind when I insert the CF card. Thank you for watching, I hope all is well!

    The 85mm 1.4D is a legendary combo although the 85 does have pretty harsh chromatic aberration at the edges (can be fixed in Lightroom with a click). The bokeh is nothing short of breathtaking. I'd also add the versatility of the pop-up flash is amazing, you can use it to wirelessly trigger multiple sets of off-camera strobes with the CLS system built-in. I have the d800 also and it's great but definitely not as comfortable as the d700. The auto iso on the d700 is pretty amazing also. The large eyepiece is my favorite feature. Will never buy a camera with a small eyepiece again. Oh, and the characteristic "THWAAACK!!!" sound of the shutter. Unmistakeable.

    The 24-120mm f/4 VR is an excellent choice, together with the 70-200mm f/4 VR you have a combo that covers many situations. The super wideangle zoom 16-35mm f/4 VR is an amazing addition to the basic combo.

    I am a Sony and Canon shooter myself, but the D700 was so on my radar forever. So I bought one too. Along with the 24mm F2.8, and the 24-120mm and the battery grip and extra batteries and the BL-3 and extra big D series battery too. Can't wait to really just have fun with it. Sony and Canon are my work cameras. This is a joy camera. All my cameras are used. My D700 had 23K clicks.

    I thoroughly love and enjoy my D700! When I bought mine I paid a little under $400 for it and in my mind any day you can buy a $3k camera for under $400 was a good day.
    I bought it and never looked back. The IQ is simply amazing and where it really shines are skin tones. Its skin tones are truly second to none. Yep Nikon hit it out ball park with this one and even after all those years this camera is still relevant.
    My favorite lens for it is my Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD.
    What’s not to like about a prime on a D700 and with the Tammy 45 1.8 you get an extremely sharp and well-built one plus the 45mm focal length has to be the perfect all-day, every day focal length as well. In addition to that that lens does image stabilization and I’ve shot sharp shots as low as 1/6 of a second!

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  9 місяців тому +1

      The Nikon D700 is a fantastic camera! The fact that you got it for under $400 is outstanding. Yes Nikon really outdid themselves with this camera. It still is a fantastic camera even compared to the new tech that's out today. I'll check out the Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD lens. It sounds like a great lens to pair up with the Nikon D700. That is a pretty slow shutter and if you are getting great shots that are sharp at that speed it must be good. Thanks for sharing your experience with your D700 and Tamron lens. I hope all is well and sorry for the late response. Thank you for watching!

    haha! my first camera was a D60, and after shooting Fuji for a few years I got a D700 to use my old AI-S lenses the way they were supposed to! funny that our experiences are so similar !
    little thing about the live view: it's not "different from the other Nikon cameras, it still has the same contrast AF system as say a D7000, the only thing is that you need to specifically select "tripod mode" in the menu. By default, the D700 is in "hand held mode" which uses the camera's AF sensr for faster autofocussing, needing to flip the mirror back down for it. (And unlike the D300, you can also repurpose a function button to toggle live view, accessing it through the drive collar is a bit of a chore. I put it on the AE-L / AF-L button personally)
    Also, for the vertical grip, just like the D300, it will boost the camera up to 8fps only if you use it with an EN-EL4 battery or AA batteries. If you use it with the EN-EL3 tray, it will give you extended battery life but you will still be locked at 5fps (I learned this the hard way)

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  11 місяців тому

      @matthieuzglurg6015 haha! That is funny! I need to get an AI-S lens to try it out. That is really good to know about the live view. Thank you for telling me that, I was wondering why it had two different modes. I have never seen that before on a Nikon camera. I'll have to do the same for the AE-L/ AF-L button. It seems like it would be a good place for it. On the battery grip, I really appreciate that info. I haven't gotten a battery grip but would like to. I was actually wondering about that. On a post that I had read, it mentioned that in order for the D700 to have the 8fps functionality it is required for the grip to have D3 battery and I was confused about that. So thank you for that! I will have to look into getting both the grip and a EN-EL4 battery. Thank you for all the info I really appreciate it. Thank you also for watching! Hope all is well.

    These are really getting affordable now, even for people on a tight budget like myself. A lot I see for sale now though have really been hammered, clearly having been used professionally in their earlier years. I literally just took delivery of one yesterday to supplement my beloved D300, for which id already collected a few old FX Nikor lenses. I think this particular D700 was just about the cheapest Nikon FX camera for sale online here in the UK at the time. I gave £160 inc P&P (200 USD) with 6 months warranty and 80000 actuations but tatty/missing rubbers. Just replaced the rubbers for about £10 and feeling I've ended up with quite a bargain. The sun is currently shining and just getting ready to go out and start shooting! 😊

It does have some barrel distortion at 24mm and some vignette around the edges when the lens is wide open at 2.8 but the photos that I have seen look spectacular and are tack sharp. @valentinsiegel8270 Well I don't own one myself, but I have heard and read that it is an excellent camera and it is said the sensor preforms like the Z9 sensor. It is a 45 megapixel camera and shoots up to 7fps and 9fps if you buy the battery grip. The image quality looks outstanding. I would say yes, I would highly recommend this camera for wildlife photography. Now just remember if you are taking pictures of wildlife that is flying you will have to have a very high buffer rate, so you will have to purchase a very high speed card for a camera like that. The XQD card type is what you will need. It does take a traditional SD card though as well. Hope this info helps.

      @brianminkc Sorry I couldn't find your message. UA-cam makes it impossible to find comments sometimes after you see them come up as a notification. I am so sorry this happened to you. Thank you for letting me know. I hope somehow you are able to get your camera fixed. Take care!

    I tried one of those CF adapter cards with my D300 and it messed up my front control wheel. Once I put a regular CF card in, I had full functionality back. Just my experience. I am hoping to get a D700 soon.

      @louhamilton I'm sorry that happened. Thank you for making me aware of that problem you had. I'm sure a real CF card is way better anyway. They just aren't as cost effective. I hope you are able to find a great copy of the D700 soon. It is a great choice for a full frame camera. Thank you for watching my video.

    Ooooooooo. We are not worthy master 😅.
    I remember not that long ago, whether to decide between the D700 or the D7000 as an upgrade for my old dinky D3000.
    The D7000 would have been my choice simply because it was cheaper, 2 SD card slots (I had plenty of SD cards but no CF cards at the time) and 16 mp's to boot.
    If I did want to get into full frame photography, I would probably get a D3 which you can pick up for about the same price give or take £50. I hope I haven't burst your bubble there mate.
    Talking of firmware, my D300s has 1.01 on it. From what little info Nikon gives on the last update, is it worth it?

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  Рік тому +2

      @badger67 Lol You are too funny Dave! 🤣 The D7000 does have some plus sides to it I agree. One of them is defiantly being that it does have the twin SD card slots. I have so many SD cards they are coming out of my ears, so I know what you mean. Lol no bubbles burst here my friend. Yes the D3 to is a spectacular camera I just wanted a full frame that wasn't so big, but now I am considering on buying the grip so I guess that defeats that whole purpose. I just remember there being a big hype about the Nikon D700 and so many people talking about its image quality. I wanted to finally see what all the hype had been about over the years and finally see why so many are shooting full frame at the cheapest expense that I could find. I still love my crop sensors though. The color rendition, dynamic range, and resolution are beautiful especially on the D300s camera 😉. I feel that each camera is a tool for creating a photograph. Each camera renders a photo differently. I know that when I picked up my D200 for the first time the images that I got out of it were not what I was expecting and I had to really adjust the settings to tune the camera to my liking. Later I realized that the camera's CCD sensor is unique to it specifically. I learned this from other users here on UA-cam that once upon a time that camera model was used for magazine covers in the industry because it had a film like quality to it. He shared some pretty cool settings that I failed to realize the camera was even capable of doing. Some would say hidden features. If you want to check them out they are on the comments of my D200 video. It's a pretty cool formula and feel it would be interesting to try with my D300s. Anyway sorry to ramble on buddy.
      So I looked up the latest firmware for the Nikon D300s. The update is primarily for the the support of the 800mm lens to be compatible with the camera. So unless you are going on an African Safari and want to see Hippos bathing in a river from the comfort of your seat of the safari tour, I don't think you need to worry about that lens being compatible. lol 🤣
      Thanks for checking out my video buddy. I hope you are doing well!

You probably figured out the flash problem by now, but if you didn't there is a button above the flash symbol button that opens the flash. Every camera gets his love on youtube but the amount of videos which endorse the D700 is endless. I have two of them by the way with very low shuttercounts. 15K or something. Nikon should re-issue the D700 if they had the guts but not gonna happen. I wonder if they did what would happen.

      @Audimann Hi, you are so lucky to have 2 copies with that low of a shutter count. I do wonder myself what would happen if Nikon re-issued the Nikon D700. It would have to have the sensor it was built with or it wouldn't matter to most of the photographers who know and love the camera. If only. Thank you for watching my video. I hope all is well!

    I owned two D700 a decade back, While it was fantastic back in the day, the D700 don't meter well, it tends to overexpose, poor AWB, I don't know why this camera is being wildly "raved" by a lot of UA-camrs, technology has moved on and they just let their nostalgic objectivity taje over.. I'd grab the entry level D610 eight times out if ten and the D750 ten times out of ten... EXPEED 1 vs EXPEED 4...btw one of my D700 had 600k clicks...would I shoot with it in 2024? No, considering there are way better options out there like the D750
