Believe it or not, this is one of the least popular songs from Strive. But I also read that this was Daisuke’s favorite song to compose. I guess you could call that a… necessary discrepancy
It's mixed. I've seen most tier lists put it shamefully low, and I've seen a few others give it nothing but praise. One even said they didn't consider it just a song like the rest but an anthem. Another said it goes harder than Hellfire. It's got it's following, and no other song has Daisuke's favor more than Necessary Discrepancy. The Creator himself is our lead man.
Necessary Discrepancy is so loved by the creator/composer himself that he considers it the true theme of Guilty Gear (the official main theme for Guilty Gear Strive is 'Smell of the Game'). He even named the first album for Strive after it
Idk man, I personally think all GG osts keep up with each other. Sure, you can call this weaker than things such as Like a Weed, but it definitely didn't fall that far behind.
I don't get what people find about drift so praise worthy... metal going into classical and back? There's like 3 other tracks in strive alone like that, but drift is the one almost recommended...
Strives album is named after this song, so you can tell Daisuke Ishiwatari was very proud of it. The song doesn’t work too well ingame, as you’ll never hear most of it, but as an experimental rock piece on its own it’s amazing.
Never a bad day when GG’s on the menu. And as always - it only gets better as it gets weirder. I doubt you’re alone in thinking this is one of the best tracks.
I've always said the Strive OST is a love letter to the vast diversity of metal and rock, showcasing a wide array of niches and subgenres (thrash, prog, pop punk, math rock, etc.), and there is something for everyone to love. Not only that, but the character themes are deeply representative of the characters themselves. Ramlethal was a person born for a singular, utilitarian purpose, devoid of nuance and empathy. However as time goes on, she starts to see the complexity and depth of the world, coming to understand the conflicting ideas and entities within it not as contradictory, but as complimentary. She discovers this clash of impulse, sensation, and sentiment constantly redefines the world, allowing people to define for themselves who they are. The interplay of sorrow, joy, anger, virtue, tragedy, chaos, and desire are not the failings of life but the Necessary Discrepancy that makes it unique and precious. Modality has a different meaning for music and logic, but I think it was a brilliant choice to utilize one to highlight a character's exploration of the other.
One of the reasons why this theme changes so much is because it's supposed to represent Ramlethal's growth in the story. She begins as just a weapon created by the Universal Will, ordered to bring war to humans and ends up joining their side after learning about how valuable each life is. The Universal Will is represented by the female vocalist Aisha while Ramlethal herself is represented by the male vocalist Naoki. Ramlethal starts by following the Universal Will but as the song goes on she starts going her own way. I love this theme even if it's not the best one to have during a fight in the game.
This theme is very underrated in my opinion. It's about middle of the road in terms of popularity, and its definitely a "you either love it or hate it" song. No denying the quality of the composition no matter what side of the fence you are on though.
Probably this, The Circle, Mirror of the World and The Town Inside do the best at a thing a LOT of Strive's themes try to do which is replicate the character's own story in both lyrics and music. How the song develops and keeps presenting new points of view and refuting them, reaching a conclusion in the middle then restating it with even more conviction at the end is mind blowing. Yes, I DO see the discrepancy, actually. All this tonal shift keeps setting the stage for these different "arguments" being brought forward. Both the instrument and the vocals sell it so well. I play Potemkin, Ram is one of worst matchups and STILL I can't help but love this theme to bits
The reason I love this song is because this talks about how Ram slowly progress, going from wanting to destroy humanity to protecting it! The lyrics are the key to figuring that out.
I feel like this track was immensely inspired by Emerson Lake and Palmer's TARKUS from 1971 You'll find that a lot of japanese videogame music was inspired by that album and Karn Evil 9 specifically, ELP was very popular in japan and it's safe to assume many of the musicians that worked in those games OSTs grew up with their prog rock sound, another example of a track clearly inspired by tarkus is DANCING MAD from Final Fantasy 6
@@Mako-zb7cc nah man but Necessary Discrepancy is a fucking banger, and it deserves to be recognised by a music producer like Tony because it's the most complex on the album. Many thanks for that xD
I teared up when I first heard the verse after the synth solo on this one, the oart where he sings "that is the voice of life." That whole section has so much soul and emotion packed into just a small snippet of the song, the drummer just slamming away at his kit the entire time like a crazy heartbeat, and the guitarist, almost quietly by comparison, playing part of an old GG theme that relates to Ram underneath it all. Amazing piece of art, this whole song.
Fun fact: This song is actually largely inspired by a song called BITCHES CRYSTAL by ELP, a b-side on their TARKUS album. The inspiration is really clear once you take notice of it.
This is also my fav theme from the soundtrack and I love almost all of them! Some people don't like it because it starts kinda slow and the round usually ends before you get to the best part, but it's amazing to listen to as normal music
OMG i remember how i wrote a comment with this song requested in it. I'm so proud that you finally make a video about this masterpiece. I hope next Guilty Gear OST will be 'Diva'
literally my favorite song, and character. Just the history that it tells you and how its related to ramlethal like its her talking to someone (universal will) and how her life and view of the world changed, its just a master piece
I too think that this is one of the best guilty gear tracks out there, but I think that there are still some weirder guilty gear songs that I'd really like you to listen to, which would be "Drift" and "The Circle"
For lore, Ramlethal is a being created by an entity called Univeral Will. Universal Will was originally tasked to find out how humans can have eternal happiness, but eventually decided that not a single true human has existed. So, it decides to kill all humans and start from scratch, Ramlethal was created to kill all humans. The beginning to me feels like Universal Will trying to brainwash Ramlethal to focus all her being for that. Being represented by the female vocalist, while the male vocalist is meant to be Ramlethal. The first instrumental break feels like Ramlethal's declaration for war against humanity. Eventually after being captured, Ram ate a burger and realized that humans are alright. No, but more seriously, she was created to not express her emotions. But after bonding with a dog, which got killed and replaced by the killer, she began to understand emotions and realized completing an objective isn't all there is to life and that life does have value. Note that after the second chorus the female vocalist is mostly gone. Towards the end it's just Ramlethal trying to understand the world she now lives in, through contradictions being able to exist at the same time. Black and white, one is total absorption of light, other is total reflection of light. What is the difference? an infinite amounts of shades of grey.

I'd say ram's theme, he would write if it was multiple songs in one video.
@@alpha-tomahawk532 Ah bummer. Oh well, Ram's theme is aight too I guess

You know... there is a reason why this song is the title of the whole game's album...
MakoMako? Hope that aint THE Mako
If you think you're gonna get inundated with GG songs, wait till the FFXIV crowd catches on
Why he looks like minecraft steve ?
You should do "Hunting for your dream" from Hunter x Hunter
In my opinion the old soundtrack of guilty gear is better.
Try react to
No Mercy,
Still in the Dark,
Havent You got Eyes in Your Head,
Lady Fascination,
Keep the Flag Flying...
those are my personal favorite
Jamie’s theme from street fighter 6 is a banger
One of my favorite Strive tracks here. Very prog rocky with the synth stuff.
I would love to see either Let Me Carve Your Way or Mirror of the World on your channel; those two songs are absolutely wild in a way I find super compelling
Length of vid is literally leet
reaction golden hours fujikaze pls
I could be reaching but I like at 4:56 the lyrics title drop the song. And he pauses deeming it necessary to point out the stylistic descrepency in feel of the first part of the song vs now. That's kinda neat
Day 71 of wanting a reaction to "ALGORITHM BOOSTING COMMENT"
*Mah-ko*
