Yes cat 2 storms are powerful but this is no Laura or Rita. This storm is just adding onto the damage Laura already caused and even Laura didn’t do as much damage as expected. Unfortunate that it had to make landfall in the same place as Laura but that’s the price with near in the gulf

Good advice for earthquake country too, because lowlands can be swampy, and then you get liquefaction, which just jiggles your house to death. Solid bedrock is always better. And of course, with earthquakes you sometimes get tsunamis, so....yep, high ground.

How about you all stop putting CO2 in the atmosphere instead of praying. If the water temperatures are that high, hurricanes will form. It's basic physics. God can't do anything about that fact, as prayer doesn't help stop gravity if you deliberately drive your car over a cliff. So if you want to pray to alleviate humans from natural desasters like hurricanes and wildfires, pray for people to stop their consumerism and ressource wasting lifestyle.

God is the Creator of all that is “seen and unseen” Colossians 2, and allows storms across the globe ( called “weather “). But we are the ones who live on a planet that’s been corrupted by sin. That said, God tells in His word that He takes no pleasure in the blood of anyone, but that all might seek Him , though He is not far from us. He gave us free will to live where we chose to. I have worked in LA off and on since KATRINA and RITA. These storms will always be here. We fortunately can be prepared to our best, although it is a sad situation for many to whom my heart goes out. I worked LAURA and have already had a meeting with my company to head back to LA after things settle after DELTA.

I watch a lot of storm videos & yours is the clearest example of storm surge I've ever seen. You stayed put & thus gave the winds & surge context for your viewers. I think it could be used as an educational tool for kids & other storm virgins to illustrate how intense the winds can be even in a cat2 as well as how storm surge "works" & how fast it happens. Great job! Congrats & blessings

Dry air is said to have driven the stronger winds in the upper part of the atmosphere down to surface level, even though said dry air and wind shear eroded the south half of Delta. Even hours after the storm had passed, the winds were still pretty strong, which is unusual. Yeah winds tend to be a little stiff after a hurricane passes, but these winds were more stiff than average hours after. The rain ended long before the winds finally died down.
