Agreed. I used to play many years ago and stopped when I didn't have a PC. Got back into it again recently as well and totally forgot how to do all this. This channel is amazing.
I've just returned to the game, and so much is different since the last time I played. This video was really helpful clearing some things up, especially the colour crystals and the dyes.
I would highly recommend three gathering skills for any first time player. Take the two gathering skills for whatever crafting role you are leaning to and then take a third. Gather the most mats whole running around your story. Spam companions on gathering missions till you max the level. By the time you max everything out and finish your character story and actually have the experience to make informed decisions on what's useful to craft + most of your companions will already be much higher levels, that significantly speed up their craft times and increasing the odds of Crit-Rolling while crafting for double-crafting productivity or for getting a free Augment Slot
When a character hits Lvl 7, they can use the shuttle to go to Fleet. So once i've hit Lv 7 & have an XP Boost running, i'll hop on the shuttle & go! At fleet i'll go to the console on our Left as we exit the turbolift to get the Crafting Intro mission, then visit each Crafting & Gathering Skill Trainer. They're worth the XP! After returning to any of the Trainers whose skill you learned (completing the Mission & More XP!) i go to the Holo of the Stronghold Promo Guy, Click the Lore Object next to him, then go to the Inner Ring to a Lore Object about Carrick/Vaiken, to the Left of the stairs that descend into the Cantina. If i've taken the Heroic Missions for the Starter Planet (conveniently located next to the SP's Shuttle) i use one for a quick return & More XP!
Thank you very much for this video because I’m almost always struggling with things like this and usually ignore it cause I’m no good at all with it but I appreciate this video a lot.
Made some decent credits selling bonded attachments, various crystals, and artifact fragments. I usually try to sell it cheaper, per unit, than the cheapest one currently on market. Even doing that I’ve scored hundreds of thousands, or even millions of credits. I even managed to snag some sweet schematics on the GTN.
I've learned that you'll start getting WAY more credit opportunity once you get around Hilt Level 17 and upward. On Star Forge those hilts go around 40k+
I wish all guides were so laid out in every detail and slow enough to really grasp it. Thank you! Trying to go through the story with my founder account. Will saber crystals get better than my black-yellow crystal or can I make it better? Well, this is a 2 year old video so not expecting a response but regardless, thank you for your video
Thank you for the help :) I think the fact that there are lightsabers that are locked stat wise is my least favourite thing about this game I just want to make my lightsaber look the way I want it to whilst still being able to practically use it

I craft lightsaber hilts relics and focuses and deconstructed them for the upgraded version then I provide a package for each of my new characters and my friends new characters so they start off from about level 10 to 30 with those item slots covered as the upgraded craftible versions often beat the stuff you find in flashpoints and you don't have rely on randomly generated loot pools for those gear slots to be filled I also found I could craft hilts that bind to legacy upon being equipped and can be at item rating 300 and higher another thing to take note of is when crafting your ranking for your companion also helps determine how long crafting takes and whether you crit making the item you crafted either be two items crafted for the resource cost of 1 or if the item has an augmentation slot a trick I used is making sure I have 3 rank 50 companions because at this rank you complete things with about 73% of the crafting time cut out of it and a high rate of crit and all crafting skills can make things like the dark project mk-1 item I made 50 of these on my characters with crafting skills using only rank 50 companions and ended up with about 70 of them from crits that gave me two for ones
Maybe i missed it, but you can also find crew skill trainer on a planets which you'll visit by doing class story. Not all planets, but most of, especially at first chapter
the thing is at 600 and above cause the onslaught is high tier stuff that needs skills that aren't done with the Artifice skill and you need slicing and 1 other skill that but you have 2 other characters and store the items, cause you can't have it on the main toon. Also if you want to buy the items instead of craft hem at the 600+ level you have to go to the Hutt Bazaar.
Preferred players can unlock the third crew skill account-wide for i think just 960cc Maybe it was 1,200...either way. In game open the cartel market tab, then select player UNLOCKs, click page 03

Did you ever post your referral link for an additional crew skill slot, I dont think I found it in the comments yet or if it's still a thing. Thanks either way for the video!
if u drop a crafting skill, say at 200 and go to a different crafting skill. can you then go pick up the frist crafting skill u had and start at 200 again? or do you have to start all over?
Can you craft Light-sabers that are modifiable in the game at all ? Or at least, how can you get the ones that you can mod ? The only one I've seen was the one you craft at the end of the first planet's story line .
It's a bit strange. There is a VERY FEW you can craft that are moddable. But now we just use the outfitter!! swtorista.com/articles/swtor-outfitter-guide/
I honestly can't figure out how to reverse engineer this game hasn't updates its tutorials in however long so the screenshots they use in it show the old ui but the current ui there is no reverse engineer tab in my inventory to click on, so don't know how to make use of the mechanic
Open your inventory, in the upper-left find the icon labelled Deconstruction, click on it. In the new window they are two panels, left and right. IFF you can decontruct an item, and possibly reverse engineer a pattern from it, the LEFT box will be lit. You can fill it up, then press DECONSTUCT. Careful. no Mulligans ...
I have a question, real off topic from artifice but I need help. I just started playing swtor and I'm a sith warrior (juggernaut) and I dont know if Im suppose to give him more power or more diffense? I'm a FTP player. Any help will be awesome, may the force be with you, always.
Yes, but it's just harder. You can take Artifice but not the buddy gathering skills, so you will need to buy the materials to craft or gather on different characters,
One more thing.. F2P and Preferred can only craft 1 item per companion at a time, Unlike Subscriber that can craft 5 Per Companion.. I usually Craft Bonded attachments to next level.. to me it's easiest
Artifice is basically useless right now. Cybertech at least can make stuff for gold augment, although it's unlikely that most players can make it. Artifice has literally none.

I must admit I feel a little lost watching how much you have to go through to craft stuff you want with these skills I wonder if the devs have any future plans to go back and simplify crafting a little more like collect 3 specific crystals from 3 different planets put them into your crafting window and choose to craft a green, blue or purple quality and change you a set amount of credits and the click a craft button, to me this would be a lot more simple and enjoyable to do crafting
It's a lot simpler than it seems. All the made-up names cause tons of confusion. The formula is just: *Crafted Item at Level **_X_** = BondedAttachments of that Item level + one of each gathering type mission for that item level* Spam gathering missions while leveling up, then when you maxed out the gathering skills start spamming the bonded attachments at each crafting level to speed through craft skill leveling and give you a big supply of bonded attachments already ready for you at every item level for when you do finally find something specific you need to craft
You will pretty much be good to go then. Follow the formula, think in terms of crafting levels 01 - 11 and just quick spamming your companions out on all the missions at the given level rather than trying to learn all the made-up names and trying to force yourself to not only remember the made-up names, but also try to remember what crafting level every made up item is at. If you have to think, you're wasting your time. It's on the level of productivity of a McDonalds employee. If they stop to think about every step they will crash their productivty and be fired, but if they instead mindlessly follow the formula they will be way more productive...Billions and Billions served kind of productivity
