Your lesson inspired me to create a folder called learning photoshop. You provided a lot of good information and I'll need to go slowly thru each step to make sure my brain understands and can remember how its done . Thanks for sharing

sweet tutorial, i trained to recreate this aswell for a refresher and my burn tool doesnt seem to be working, any advice on what you think would be wrong, i have the settings for the tool the same as yours but it wont burn the edge of the circle when i try to
yo man plzzzzz help i tried to recreate this again as a refresher but when i fill the circle marque with a colour when i go to burn the edge with the burn tool, nothing happens, ive tried different layers. i did everything you did in your video up until your first swipe with the burn tool cuz i cant do that, any idea on whats wrong? help is MUCH appreciated!
I'm using cs6 and the ellipse tool is totally different. I have three different options now and when I make a blue or red circle the burn tool doesn't work. It only works when I color the circle grey.
All my settings are the same, yes I'm not a cheeky scrub I have it in RGB mode Burn tool does nothing. wtf. This happens a lot, took me an hour to get my paint tool to paint. Never had any problems with ms paint tho. The irony is killing me.
Want to be me to deploy Apache,MySql,PHP and build my website? Sure not a problem. Want to add shading to this image for me? Sure, after I watch a UA-cam video tutorial LOL so true

@pbexpert with the burn tool selected, there is a dropdown menu labeled "Range". Try changing between Shadows and Midtones

When I add a new layer it no longer paints on just the circle :( Why?

Use RGB Colour. Click New. Then if it wont say RGB Colour then you can click and change it to RGB Colour.then try

For everybody that the Burn Tool doesn't do anything, try unchecking the option "protect tones" on the properties bar.

The sphere looks great but I feel like its edge in the light area is still a bit too sharp... Like it's lacking some tiny shadow effect... :S

My burn tool isnt doing anything .-.
Highlight-type tools (like Burn) can only work on already-colored Layers, using them on new layers for example won't shade anything.
