Your husband can definitely do this. If it’s made of wood you can fix it. I have many Mobile Home Floor videos that I hope will help your husband. The reason why I make videos is for people like your husband. I’ve been working on mobile homes for years and years and years I’ve never found one that I couldn’t fix. Excellent Job. My neighbors want for me to help them replace a small piece of flooring were the water tank sits inside Their mobile home. Thanks for this awesome Video.
Nice job what A pain. I found 3/4 strand board glued and stapled to the joists in my 2000. Used an edge cutter and a lot of staple pulling. Found old animal droppings and replaced the insulation with r 30. Used 3/4 ply and deck screws to replace the flooring. Its a job. Had to use tyvec tape to fix holes in the under belly.
If you look at a few of my other videos you’ll see we found the same problem many times and it is a pain in the butt removing the glue and the staples. A little bit of elbow grease and it’s possible I use a saw Zaw
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Sweet. I think they are calling them wall saws but I haven't been to a store to see one in real life. It is excellent it gets so close to walls with a controlled cut.
There were parts of the job unfortunately that I did not get to record. I was wishing I could get it all but like you said I just couldn’t make it every day still recovering I’ll get there soon
BigRed1200100 We are starting another Mobile Home Floor this weekend be looking for my next video I’ll try to show more details. It’s a small mobile home repair kitchen hallway laundry area and heating and air closet that also has the hot water heater in it. We have to remove all that to fix the floor and then have it reinstalled by our air conditioning guy
Everybody keep your eyes open I will be doing another Mobile Home Floor this week I hope you enjoy the videos I will try to include many details in the next video
How much is it roughly and is single wide one bedroom to replace subfloor and put new flooring on top of that? How much would that be estimate parts and labor everything
I love in NC. .how much would it be to replace my floor underneath my laminate like that? for my kitchen and living room? right now it's particle board. I have a 14 by 80 Horton.
We’re heading to Rhode Island and New York to do a Rubber Roof if that something that interest you be watching June 6 heading to Rhode Island from North Carolina. And then from Rhode Island to New York.
Love your videos quick question, After reframing the rim joist and if it’s unlevel can I jack up the rim joist and block it to raise the joist? Single wide mobile home.
Drew's Roofing & Home Repair thank you sir, your videos have helped me out a lot. You and your crew are so detailed that a simple man with tools willing to work can knock it out.
I just bought a 1464 square foot 42-year-old manufactured home in Currituck County Virginia. The floors are all 3/4 inch particle board and I'm gonna replace it all along with the insulation. I don't have the budget for AdvanTech. Any thoughts on DryGuard? I'm going to also install a crawlspace fan. Thank you for your videos.
According to code for me on the buttons were the two plywood pieces meet there Hass to be one on each end and every 6 inches staggered in the middle you need one on each side and three in the middle I use inch and five eights screws
If you really wanna know next week on Monday I’m starting a mobile home roof excuse me Mobile Home Floor so you’ll be seeing some brand new videos coming out soon
Hi. Thanks 4 recording how to do it. Does it matter which way the Insulation is facing.. Mine was done from the bottom, paper side faces the ground? Thanks again..
The vapor barrier should be towards the inside of the house meaning the vapor barrier should be right under the flooring and the vapor barrier would be right underneath the sheet rock on the walls and the vapor barrier would be right underneath the sheet rock on the ceilings
I have to re-floor my kitchen. Cabinets and all. Thanks for the tips.Wesh you were in my neighborhood. I would pay you to do my front porch roof and kitchen floor.

If I can help you in anyway please let me know I have plenty of floor videos and roof videos for that matter
Can I ask what saw it is you’re using along side the wall ? I didn’t catch it in the video ! I’ll be starting my own reno on a trailer soon so this video helped a lot ✨
Hey. I was just curious, in the start of the video the room you were in you said they had the flooring running length ways. It looks to me that it’s going the width of the room. By the end of the video it looks like all the flooring is running the full length of the mobile home. Just wanted to see if you could clarify this? Should the flooring run length of the mobile home and is there a reason to why? I’m needing to have my whole kitchen replaced and if I remember correctly the subfloor is currently running the width of the mobile home. Thank you for taking the time to post these videos!!
Sorry about the music this was an old video but I wanted you to see the difference in the way the floors are laid lengthwise and sometimes sideways ua-cam.com/video/-XlSZtWnuLE/v-deo.html

I'm in the middle of a floor replacement in my bathroom. This video is very helpful for me since I'm not a seasoned carpenter. One question though, what's the saw he using to make the cut against the walls? I need this to get started, but Idk what it's called lol.
Go to Harbor freight and show them a picture of the saw that you’re talking about and they will show you exactly where it is it cost $79. Thanks for watching and if this video helps you please hit the thumbs up so UA-cam will share it with somebody else. When ripping out near the rimjoist. Do you leave the floor cut off at the edge of the wall? Or do you rip the floor out between the wall and rimjoist? I get that we want to add a joist for the edge of the plywood but between this edge and the rimjoist should there be a 2nd piece of wood? I.e. At the end of the project do I fill the whole underneath the wall with wood and then it sticks out and the plywood gets nailed to it? Or do I just leave the flooring under the wall then give one new piece of wood that the new floor will sit on? I'm really unclear as to how the area under the wall should look like after the repair is finished.
It’s not easy in order to replace the piece under the wall which would be the bottom plate is to remove the paneling on the inside. I hope this video helps you. Are used to just leave that underneath the wall and install my blocking and not worry about what was under the wall I still do that if I can’t remove the paneling. But if I have to remove the paneling I might as well replace the bottom plate and the plywood. Subfloor if you go back to that video and look at the date of it and start watching the videos from there out I show exactly how to do what you’re asking. ua-cam.com/video/a-tDntNhhJo/v-deo.html
Can a mobil home foundation support 2 layers of 5/8 plywood? Or 1 1/8 inch tongue and groove subfloor?? I'm basically wanting to get rid of any flexing on the floor.
I put out a video today and in the video I show the box I think it is this video. Actually if you watch the whole video, you will see exactly what we use. I actually show it in the video twice.
Been there done that I drove tongue an groove plywood in from the outside under the walls not an easy task but I done it everybody told me I couldn't do it that way but I did
Yes actually it’s not that hard let me show you a video ua-cam.com/video/5F_iyn4oUsk/v-deo.html In order to get to it you were gonna have to take off the paneling on the inside
So i am purchasing a mobile home today and there are 2 small soft spots in the small bedroom and one about 1'x1' in the master. Any advice on fixing it without having to redo the entire room atleast until spring summer?
How do you keep the walls supported after removing the rotted flooring? Also, I know you say to replace the whole floor, however the damage in my mobile home is a medium section. under the bathtub and into the closet of adjoining room, where the hot water heater leaked. I had planned to replace 1 or 2 feet beyond where the rot is and add support joists to keep the weight of bathtub, washer, dryer and hot water heater from causing sagging in the future. Oh, I will be using plywood to replace the flooring. Not trying to cut corners, honest, but I have come to the end of my limited budget. I should have said this first, I'm glad I came across your vid's. I am no longer have paralyzing fears that I won't be able to fix things in my mobile home. Wish I had the Money to bring you up to NH to do the repairs, with or without my fears of not being able to do the work correctly on my own.
It’s a pain in the ass trying to remove the rotted stuff underneath the tub so I come out to the edge and frame up for it. I hope some of these videos will help. ua-cam.com/play/PL8xp84iSvTA5ijttVoacTgeJWamtbvE9G.html
Your videos are great! Im getting ready to redo my subfloors and replace my bathtubs. I've never done this before so these videos are perfect homework. Any advice? What depth do you set the skill saw at? What do you use for blocking? What are the best floors to use in bathrooms? This trailer came with carpet, which is nasty in a bathroom. I've got my supply list I'm compling. What am I missing? 54 inch mobile home tub with tub surround and right hand drain. Utopia 8 inch center set faucet plumbers putty screw fittings ptrap under drain. 23/32nd plywood r19 insulation (I'm in Maine, so I think I'll have to go thicker!) Wall saw Skill saw Vent tape
You should use Vantex flooring, not three-quarter inch plywood. It is a little bit more money but it will never go away. They have different brands of it. I’m not sure what they carry in Maine advent tech Vantex there’s different names. I’m not sure what years is like I said, but if you use it, you will never have to replace your floor again ever plywood. It could happen. If it gets wet down the road you’ll have to replace itVantex, you will not. Sounds like you have everything you need if you’re in Maine maybe you would consider our 30 in the attic but I think I 19 is fine for the floor. Thank you for watching and if there’s anything else I can help you with please let me know it sounds like you got it figured out. When you take up the floor if it’s put down with Staples and glue I have a video for that.
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Advantech will swell if it gets wet. In preparation for installing linoleum, I used thinset to fill all the gaps between the tongue and groove, and it sponged out. If getting wet one time causes it to swell, i'm not so sure that I believe it will outperform plywood. In either case, the key is to make sure nothing ever leaks!
What does the wall saw do? It looks like your sawing the plywood? If you cut the plywood back where your other cuts going to be couldn't you just pull it straight up without having to cut it along the wall?
If I replace all the insulation I think next time I will just cut pink panther foam board and glue it to the floor between the joists, then animals can't get between. Do you think that would work?
iv done these with 23/32 plywood cant hardly get the Advantech around here so ar not had any problems the key is to find the leak and fix it or it rot new floor same as it did the old
I have to replace both the floor joists and rim joists all around my mobile home. Under the bathroom sink and the water heater is just gone about 18 inches in from the side.
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I'm gonna go and search for them. Way too tired tonight. These 105 degree days are killing me. I was a carpenter back in the 80s and 90s. Did restoration work on old houses. I'm going to look so I know where to start first
Serious question… What was the cost of this job and … was the cost worth the result? I was thinking of simply cladding the existing floor with 3/4 ply though the advantech might be a viable option. My biggest problem is the underside is/was covered with a “tarred” cardboard like material.
Any suggestions for installing insulation when there is no crawl space and no bottom panel to keep insulation from falling out the bottom? Getting ready to do this same job and most the insulation is falling out and I wanna replace it but not sure how to get it to stay in place
I bought it at Harbor freight. I think they call it a toe jam song or a jam song we use it for cutting our OSB next to the wall. If you take a picture of it and bring that picture to Harbor freight they will lead you right to it. And I believe it’s under $100 it’s a nice little saw buy a couple extra blades. Thank you for watching and I hope you hit the bell notification for the next time I download a video. I have done lots of videos on this subject flooring in a mobile home. If you have any questions feel free to ask I’ll help anyway I can
I lived in and rebuilt a old manufactured home. The area I live was and still is Mobil homes. Slowly they're disappearing. The old homes can't be moved. They have to be demolished where they're located. home movers won't touch them. Lot built homes are replacing the old manufacture homes. The material/labor cost just don't work putting into a old manufactured home. Just the kitchen cabinets will cost as much as that old home. Maybe if you have access to used reclaimed lumber and are retired with no day job, I could see doing this. I was fascinated that anyone would do this.
It’s really all according to the mobile home that you’re working on. It’s also all according to the skill level that you have. So it’s really hard to say cost wise because of the cost of material nowadays you’re probably looking at $4000 and just material
You can buy that saw at Home Depot for under $50. Excuse me Harbor freight for under $50. Some people are calling it a tow kick saw. But I Colladay flush cut saw. Go to Harbor freight near you show them a picture of it they’ll put one in your hand I love it works real well. We used to use a saws all until we found that tool. Actually a customer started doing his own floor and he bought that saw at Harbor freight. When he realized how hard it was he hired me. He gave me the song and said I never want to have to useless again. So we did his job using his saw and it worked out so great we bought another one. In our earlier videos we used to use a saws all which could be kind of dangerous because of pipes and wires they put underneath floors in mobile 🏠 I want to share with you my playlist of some of my Mobile Home Floor jobs we have done. ua-cam.com/play/PL8xp84iSvTA6oXgxQr0iXkWR2bOhrllSm.html
If you’re talking about for the floor I would only use plywood or even something better than that advantex. I probably wouldn’t use your basic OSB on the floor
how to proceed if: a large section of particle board flooring is disintegrated under the exterior wall plate? if i pull it out to replace, the wall section will sink down to the plate, right? thanks
Sometimes you can sometimes you can’t it’s all according to the job for the most part you can’t and you end up leaving it there and if you fix the leak it won’t be a problem anymore after you reframe
How much does something like this cost? Like how much would all of the material cost, and if you was to hire a crew to do the repair? I was curious about repairing a piece myself. But it's a rental. My landlord isn't very interested in fixing anything in the trailer that's going to be fairly expensive. So I'm going to have to move or fix it. There is mold from leaking over a period of years. It ran from the corner of the wall to the bottom of the middle of the wall. So the wall, floor and roof was all ruined. Thank you for the video
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Idk why I'm but I just recieved the notification that you replied! Thanks for the information. 1.4k per room really isn't too bad of a price for labor and materials. I may attempt the repair myself. I've been working on a bathroom that had a similar issue but the leak was on in a wall. After a ton of trial, error and hours spent on UA-cam. I've become fairly confident in my drywalling abilities. It would be interesting to tackle a floor. I'm not too confident about getting in and around the housing frames and important structural stuff quiet yet
It’s really not that bad to be honest with you it’s not bad at all as a matter fact it’s easier than you think. When you’re taking it apart you see how they do it you can figure out how to put it back together if you do the floor you won’t have to mess with anything structural. I have done the whole exterior walls both side of the house and it wasn’t that bad
If you working on the top and you can see where they’re getting in you can fix that with a tarp that you buy at Lowe’s. All you have to do is the tarp whatever size you need to seal up the hole. You can actually use a caulking to put on the tarp and then stick it to the other underbelly it’s already under your trailer. That will fix the hole or you can just call me 910-294-1761 and ask me in person
When you do that you were going to have to remove some of your paneling on the wall unfortunately. Questions and answers at 6 PM tonight. ua-cam.com/users/shortsYRdpmJKzOiw?feature=share
After watching this I feel confident I can do this myself. It will take me a lot longer, but great info.

Woow thank you very much for share your job, and explaining how to do it 🙏🙏

I like that new angle grinder saw as it controls the depth of the cut.
What is the exact name for that saw? I think I need one.
I love that new saw it’s amazing they actually have another one that I’ll be buying and showing on one of my next videos
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Sweet. I think they are calling them wall saws but I haven't been to a store to see one in real life. It is excellent it gets so close to walls with a controlled cut.
Nice little treasure you found in the floor!! 🧐😂
Lol. I know right
Great video, don’t apologize for missing a few days, you got treatment for cancer going on. As always your crew does great work. BigRed
The floors in my trailer are sinking in. No vents in the place, so I guess somehow condensation is trapping under it from the ground.
It sounds like to me the underbelly of your trailer is not enclosed. And that is very important
I love in NC.
.how much would it be to replace my floor underneath my laminate like that? for my kitchen and living room? right now it's particle board. I have a 14 by 80 Horton.
I prefer good grade plywood waterproof

Love your videos quick question, After reframing the rim joist and if it’s unlevel can I jack up the rim joist and block it to raise the joist? Single wide mobile home.
I think you can

I just bought a 1464 square foot 42-year-old manufactured home in Currituck County Virginia. The floors are all 3/4 inch particle board and I'm gonna replace it all along with the insulation. Very helpful, thank you. One question: What type/size screws do you recommend? And how far apart should they be?

I'm currently working on a reflooring project in a mobile home. Do you prefer using the OSB Subfloor shown in this video or would you go for plyboard?
Advantec is my fav. But plywood is my second
Can you do this same technique on the floor around the toilet and tub? Serious moisture problem there.
Yes you can do it around toilet
How are the floor joists in a MH actually attached to the metal frame underneath it? Bolts, straps, or ?
Yes they have a clip that is bolted around the frame it’s a metal clip
Can I ask what saw it is you’re using along side the wall ? I didn’t catch it in the video ! I’ll be starting my own reno on a trailer soon so this video helped a lot ✨
This might help you. It’s called a toe kick saw I bought it at Harbor freight 40 bucks

Are you able to find that tool at Harbor freight. Take a picture of it off of my video bring it to Harbor freight they’ll sell you one for about $35.

Jam saw not wall saw. They sell it at Harbor freight
My dad house needs this done…He usually fix things himself but his health not so good and he up in the age this is too stressful for him… I wish I knew how to do it not worrying about hitting a wire or pipe because he deserves the world

We talked on the phone for a couple hours and by the time we were done talking I had decided that he needs help. And I felt like I could help him. So I told him that I would take myself and my friend left handed Paul and come to Florida the second week of November for two weeks and get as much done as we can on his place this is the UA-cam channel he sent me and if you notice in the comments I told him we would be there November Second week to help him. I wish we could help your father to.

Drew what size plywood did you use for this project? You may have mentioned it in a previous video.
7/16
Can a mobil home foundation support 2 layers of 5/8 plywood? Or 1 1/8 inch tongue and groove subfloor?? I'm basically wanting to get rid of any flexing on the floor.
Yes absolutely
Hey y’all what size and type of fasteners are you using for those supports along the exterior walls?
I put out a video today and in the video I show the box I think it is this video. Actually if you watch the whole video, you will see exactly what we use. I actually show it in the video twice.
Inch and five eights exterior Phillips head screws. You can buy them in a 5 pound box at Lowe’s for $35.
Been there done that I drove tongue an groove plywood in from the outside under the walls not an easy task but I done it everybody told me I couldn't do it that way but I did
I’m in pressed it is no easy task
Took a while was no easy task for sure by no means but I got it done a full floor no patches anywhere
You did it the right way and the patches as you know is just not the way to go
The wall frames are nailed into the floor osb right? How did you remove the old floor from under the wall?
Yes actually it’s not that hard let me show you a video
ua-cam.com/video/5F_iyn4oUsk/v-deo.html
In order to get to it you were gonna have to take off the paneling on the inside
So i am purchasing a mobile home today and there are 2 small soft spots in the small bedroom and one about 1'x1' in the master. Any advice on fixing it without having to redo the entire room atleast until spring summer?
Cut out the square replace just the square.
I notice you are not putting plywood down - is that particle product subject to expansion when it gets wet? thanks
No And if it does it’s only at the seams where the tongue and groove is
Hi I have a question ? What size and of plywood are you using on the floor? Any special plywood?
21/32 i like vanteck

54 inch mobile home tub
with tub surround and right hand drain.
Utopia 8 inch center set faucet
plumbers putty
screw fittings
ptrap under drain.
23/32nd plywood
r19 insulation (I'm in Maine, so I think I'll have to go thicker!)
Wall saw
Skill saw
Vent tape
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Thank you!
If you watch a few of my videos it will give you a better idea

Hello my friend and thank you for stopping by I hope you enjoy
About how much do u think it would be for a very small bedroom and the bathroom next to it?? My grandma needs it done from were the toilet leaked!!
good ?? I really need to see it. I would guess 1200 labor and materials
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Awesome!! Where are yall based at??
If I replace all the insulation I think next time I will just cut pink panther foam board and glue it to the floor between the joists, then animals can't get between. Do you think that would work?
Yes I like that
iv done these with 23/32 plywood cant hardly get the Advantech around here so ar not had any problems the key is to find the leak and fix it or it rot new floor same as it did the old
Agreed
What will prevent creatures to nest in a new insulation under the floor? I don't see any barrier to stop them from getting there.
The under belly is there nothing will stop rodents from getting in except for underpinning and rat poison
Wish you could come out to Arizona and fix my Mom’s mobile home. The roof and the floors. My Mom fell through the floor and hurt herself really bad.

She is okay but was injured pretty bad.
So sorry to hear that
I have to replace both the floor joists and rim joists all around my mobile home. Under the bathroom sink and the water heater is just gone about 18 inches in from the side.
I have lots of videos on how to do that
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I'm gonna go and search for them. Way too tired tonight. These 105 degree days are killing me. I was a carpenter back in the 80s and 90s. Did restoration work on old houses. I'm going to look so I know where to start first
Serious question…
What was the cost of this job and … was the cost worth the result?
I was thinking of simply cladding the existing floor with 3/4 ply though the advantech might be a viable option.
My biggest problem is the underside is/was covered with a “tarred” cardboard like material.
For the total job, I believe we charge them around four grand
Any suggestions for installing insulation when there is no crawl space and no bottom panel to keep insulation from falling out the bottom? Getting ready to do this same job and most the insulation is falling out and I wanna replace it but not sure how to get it to stay in place
Good question
How about installing wire under the joist and lay insulation on that
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I had thought maybe some kind of plastic sheeting but chicken wire maybe easier..thanks for the idea
What tool in the beginning of the video are you using to cut close to the wall like that??
I like working on Mobile Home
Where did you get the wall saw? I can't find one anywhere... Or is it an attachment for something else? What brand is it?
I’m not sure of the name of the brand but I bought it at Harbor freight it’s called a flush wall cuts off
Great video! I need this done with my trailer. Approximately how much does this cost? And how much time does it take?
It’s really all according to the mobile home that you’re working on. It’s also all according to the skill level that you have. So it’s really hard to say cost wise because of the cost of material nowadays you’re probably looking at $4000 and just material
What kind of saw are they useing buy the walls
You can buy that saw at Home Depot for under $50. Excuse me Harbor freight for under $50. Some people are calling it a tow kick saw. But I Colladay flush cut saw. Go to Harbor freight near you show them a picture of it they’ll put one in your hand I love it works real well. We used to use a saws all until we found that tool. Actually a customer started doing his own floor and he bought that saw at Harbor freight. When he realized how hard it was he hired me. He gave me the song and said I never want to have to useless again. So we did his job using his saw and it worked out so great we bought another one. I’m trying to do one room at a time, how much would it be ?
To do yourself. 400 for a contractor. 8 or 9 hundred
If I have the little space on the outside wall between it and the floor should I fill it with spray foam?
Yes but be careful with that stuff. It expands a lots
Which is better. Plywood or OSB?
If you’re talking about for the floor I would only use plywood or even something better than that advantex. I probably wouldn’t use your basic OSB on the floor
how to proceed if: a large section of particle board flooring is disintegrated under the exterior wall plate? if i pull it out to replace, the wall section will sink down to the plate, right? thanks
To be honest it’s according to how big a section you were taken out if you have to remember you can always use bracing from the floor to the ceiling
What about rotted subfloor under the outside walls? How do you guys deal with that.
Sometimes you can sometimes you can’t it’s all according to the job for the most part you can’t and you end up leaving it there and if you fix the leak it won’t be a problem anymore after you reframe
What would you charge to refloor a home that was built in 1954, remodeled sever times throughout the years, 26 x 60?
It’s really hard to tell to be honest without actually physically seeing what’s there now.

Can you put radiant heated floors in a mobile home floor?
Imsure you can
How much does something like this cost? Like how much would all of the material cost, and if you was to hire a crew to do the repair? I was curious about repairing a piece myself. But it's a rental. My landlord isn't very interested in fixing anything in the trailer that's going to be fairly expensive. So I'm going to have to move or fix it. There is mold from leaking over a period of years. It ran from the corner of the wall to the bottom of the middle of the wall. So the wall, floor and roof was all ruined. Thank you for the video
It will generally cost you about $1400 per room labor and material
Did the wall saw cut all the way through or just short?
Why is the insulation face up on this one?
In the last 1 it was unfaced insulation So no paper either side
all the was it can cut up to an inch and a half
what should i use in bathroom for the walls
black mold was the issue

How do you fixs the underneath part after haveing a animal in their.
