My brother and myself about the same age as your boys found some of that insulation, yellow and pink. We thought it would be good material to make wigs out of. Very Bad idea, about 5 to 10 minutes in, that stuff ate us up. We ran jumped in the creek trying to wash that stuff off. Every time I see insulation like that, I'm reminded of that incident. LoL

I’m sure you have heard this from others, but you guys helped me to go ahead with some floor issues in my 1979 double widemobile home. There is water damage to several rooms from various pipes breaking over the years, with several “soft spots”. I was looking around on you tube to see what I could do to fix things. I stumbled onto your site and boy did I feel better. Having no (as in zip, zero, none) experience or knowledge about how mobile homes are built. I have now started demo on the floor of one of the bedrooms. I almost feel like I know you two because I have watched your videos over and over, trying to burn your tips into my brain. I’m about to start blocking between the joists. Amazing enough the joists seem to be in good shape. I’m retired so hopefully I will be able to finish the projects in my lifetime. 😉 Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I feel much more hopeful about continuing to live here without falling through the floor. I can’t thank you enough for being willing to video all your remodeling. I wouldn’t have started this if I hadn’t seen your channel.

That is so awesome to hear! We are so happy that we were able to be an inspiration or encouragement for you to take on such a project to improve your home and better your living! This is exactly why we try to make our videos educational and take the time to share! Best of luck on your home projects and be sure to see our playlists and channel for more videos. We have a lot on working on all sorts of things in our home! This year we even moved it to another state and renovated it some more. :) We're happy to say after 7 years of owning it and working on it from paycheck to paycheck, that the major interior renovations are done. Now for the outside (come Spring 2023). :)

This was very encouraging! My mobile home is 1984 with some of the same problems. You’ve gave me the balls to start on the smallest problem lol 😂. I’m 46 and can’t afford a new mobile home or stick built home. My home is paid for so I might as well get started while I can still move lol 😂. Good luck on your project! I hope you report back how it turned out.

@@tamarar.4642 I’m now working on my 4th room. Sam said in one of their videos, that you have to accept that trailers are not square anywhere so don’t beat yourself up trying to make it perfect. I still have 2 rooms and a hallway to finish. Good luck on yours.

I agree guys, once you get to the point where your work is gettin sloppy coz you just want to get it finished, it’s time to stop for the day, get cleaned up, cook a nice meal and relax. Take your time with this project. It’s your home and you don’t want to just throw things together. With that being said, I think you guys have made great progress and it’s gonna be beautiful when you are finished with it. Thanks again for another great video. God loves you both and your children. Been living in mobile homes for the at least the last 35 years been there done that, everything from floor patches to new floors but learned something a couple years ago that has made these repairs so much easier if you are doing a whole room like you all are. Just overlay the whole floor with either 5/8 or 3/4 plywood so much better than tearing out that particle board junk with a million staples, you end up with 10 times less mess a smoother floor to put your covering of choice on. I have done both now and wonder why I didn't think of the overlay to start with. Granted if you are just patching a bad spot that doesn't work but for a whole room it so much better it ends up stronger and flatter and you can just put a trim piece on at door entry to make the transition. Anyway keep up the great work I enjoy your video's reminds me of when we were younger repairing our first mobile home it is an adventure LOL...

First of all great job guys, watching your videos has become a relief for me as i am very ignorant and have no experience in working with trailer homes. I was feeling very overwhelmed when i came to my mother in law's trailer to help her install flooring, upon inspecting the floors we found out the siding or aluminum sheets outside had some water condensation over the years and due to a tree being next to that side of the trailer water got into the floor and thus rotten some of it, being this was my first ever remodeling/patching job i got very stressed over it as i did not know how to go about it. I would like to thank you for showing me that any average joe like myself can actually get it started and finish it, i have realized that the oscillating tool is a must for any remodeling job. Thank you both for being such a great couple and for all the helpful knowledge you share, may Jah keep blessing your family and work. Thank you very much.

I'm gonna have to do some patch work on our doublewide floor. In a perfect world that particle board sheathing should last forever but it doesn't. After moisture or any water leaks its done for. Your doing it right, its worth the extra effort. I need to get me an oscillating cutter like you have. Those things will cut just about anything.

Pride is everything I also take pride in my mobile home work and the mobile is not mine

Don't judge others so harsh. Some things are beyond our funds. I had a whole new roof installed and before that I had bad leak that I was catching water from a bucket as I was removing it my foot when through the floor. I placed a board over the spot and it will stay there until I have the money to fix it. I am willing to live with just subfloor until I have the money to replace the flooring.
It is hard to find renovators that will work on a mobile. I do take pride in my home.

Breathe. Progress feels good❗Now you can move on. Blocking is a back breaker, but oh so satisfying a job. 👌 I'll over before you know it, and you'll be SO glad you did it‼️👍😎

Being that it was a mobile home it didn't surprise me that there wasn't any blocking already in place. Given it's age I am glad you didn't have any joist failures already. Should go pretty quickly but still a nasty job. Good luck with it all, take care and thx for sharing. As always two thumbs up!

Don't need any blocking when the floor decking spans the whole width of the mobile home.

When you see the siding and realise that that is all there is between you and outside , it has to be a bit of shocker ?Once you have lovely new walls set up and you cant see the siding it makes it feel like a real solid home surely ?

I know they will get to the siding once the interior is done. I bet they OSB those out side walls and side over that. Then they will truly have a new home. Such a smart couple to get rid of debt.
