I really miss Paul. I watched him every week and wondered where he went. I think HGTV made a really bad decision cancelling his show. How many flipping/realtor shows can we watch!! Gardening is so popular and no one does a more entertaining, informative show that Paul James!!
I did too...and Totally Agree!!!
SO SOTRUE
patti sonnentag: I always thought that too, HGTV has changed so much, the old shows were fun including Paul's.
patti sonnentag maybe they will bring it back soon since gardening has become so popular during this pandemic.
I don't even watch HGTV any more. They left out the Garden part. Should be HTV.
Joe, you literally made my day, heck my whole week - having Paul James on your program. He was a Saturday morning fixture in our home for MANY years ! I truly loved this sweet teddy bear of a man - who wouldn't ? The wealth of knowledge he shared with the world is priceless ! I rarely watch a video that brings tears to my eyes, but this one did ~ THANK YOU !!!
Very well said and very true.
Thank you, Ellen. Paul was a fixture in my house too. He's a very smart guy and is constantly reading! So fun to have him all to myself for a few days. Glad he let us share our time together with the world. Thanks for writing.
I felt myself tearing up too
He was a fixture in our house too. My wife was the gardener but Paul James drew me in. Seeing him here was like seeing an old friend from years ago. Thank you. I hope Paul sees these comments so he knows how much he meant to people.
@@iveslewis108 , ME TOO !!!
It was SO GREAT to see Paul on television in the garden again! I was a dedicated follower of Paul The Gardener Guy! Really miss watching him! Thank you.
Thank you so much for having Paul James on I have missed him immensely, just absolutely loved watching him!!!!
YES!!!! I loved watching Paul- my husband and I was just talking about him! Good timing! Hey HGTV ....More Paul...more Paul... more Paul!
THIS HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS IN FACT I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT PAUL JAMES THE OTHER DAY AND HOW MUCH I MISSED HIS SHOW I DON'T WATCH HGTV MUCH ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF GARDENING SHOWS, THANK YOU FOR BRINGIN A SMILE TO MY FACE AND MY HEART . Much Love and happy gardening from Marci in Micanopy Florida
Thanks, Marci. So glad you enjoyed this one. I did too!
Hi Joe I just found your channel and subscribed instantly. It was so good to see Paul James again in my opinion he is a national treasure.
i'm right there with you. i stopped watching hgtv, because there are no gardening shows. my two favorite gardening shows were 1) the victory garden, and 2) gardening by the yard with paul james.
@@draco4540 oh goodness I loved Victory Garden too !
Exactly! Love Paul James... I thought it was HGTV, but sadly all it is now is HTV...
What a great episode! It was so nice to see Paul James again. I spent many hours watching and learning from both the old Victory Garden shows and then The Gardener Guy. It was great to see someone with a true passion for gardening sharing and laughing with us! Thanks Joe!
Thanks, Beth. You're welcome. It was fun and so glad to share this show with the world. He's one of a kind!
Late to the party here, but I will say the same thing. Old school Victory Garden was a weekend staple growing up and Gardening by the Yard was watched as an adult. Growing a Greener World carries the torch quite nicely. We definitely need more gardening shows and less of the home "reality" shows.
I remember watching him with my father on HGTV. It was on Saturday mornings and after it was over my dad and I would head out to our garden. I learned organic gardening from my father and Paul James. I was so happy to see him again. He always made mt dad and I laugh. It was great to laugh at his sense of humor again. 😄
Great story, Melinda. Thanks for sharing it here.
A priceless episode! Your excitement in spending time with Paul James was palpable and I think I smiled all the way through:) After that last comment of Paul's, I wish I could have heard all the off camera conversations! So happy for you & so grateful to both of you for being SHINING examples of the wonderful world of everything gardening! Thank you so very much!
I wish we could have had the mics recording all the time too. But if you want to hear more, be sure to listen to the podcast episodes I did with Paul, including one on the last day of this filming. The links are here: www.growingagreenerworld.com/episode-1006-catching-up-with-tv-garden-legend-paul-james/
Gardening by the Yard was where I began thinking I could garden! I could do that! So, Paul James was the one who got me started gardening. And Growing a Greener World helped me wanting to try different things. Thank you, Joe, for bringing Paul into Growing a Greener World. Awesome! 🙂
Great job, bro! Loved seeing you share your passion once again!
I loved Paul James shows. I wish his shows would be on UA-cam! He was sooo funny!
This made my day! Love love love Paul James. Thank you, Joe
You're welcome, Shelly!
Gosh I’ve missed Paul James. Thx for bringing him back. His shows really influenced me in my early gardening career. I didn’t have the familial history of some but some of my earliest memories are of flower beds so it truly has been a lifelong interest.
When HGTV stopped showing your show, Paul... that was pretty much the end of my watching HGTV. Your show taught both me and my husband so much about gardening... and emboldened us to take our two acre plot and turn it into our two acre dream. But thankfully I can still see you on UA-cam.
A year later, but I thank you for talking with Paul James. I learned so very much about gardening by watching "The Garden Guy." Over the years HGTV has canceled so many good and great gardening programs. Thankfully knowledge learned can be eternal. We are fortunate for programs like "The Garden Guy" and "Growing a Greener World," and for the people who love sharing gardening information that is tried and true. Thank You!!!
“We garden to live a memory” WOW. I really loved this episode. Paul James is a national treasure!!
@ Kelli Martin u made me laugh, we both used the same phrase calling Paul James a national treasure
Yes he is
Oh gosh I remember watching Paul’s show, loved it...he’s so funny and knows his stuff! When he spoke about you, I could see you both getting choked up, I just lost it! You guys are the best and thanks Paul you still tickle me🤣😆❤️
Thank you, Sally. Yes, that was a very nice surprise to hear what Paul had to say. Quite an honor to hear that from him.
Really enjoyed the show today I loved gardening by the yard and Paul James 👍🐓🌻🦇
One of my favorite episodes! What fun you both had.
What a truly wonderful show of two of my favorite gardeners in the entire world kudos to both you I have all the same traits that you both have and I've been organic gardening for 35 years and will continue to do so All the best my friends 🙏😬🙏
So glad you enjoyed this episode. That was one of my favorite filming trips. Craig is a dear friend and we had so much fun shooting that one. Thanks for the kind words and keep up the good work with your organic gardening. 👍
Greetings Joe from Surry county, NC. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. My wife and I never missed an episode of Paul's. It brought back many memories. Thank you for inviting Paul to your beautiful garden and taking the time to produce the video. Y'all stay well and God bless.
I agree that it’s confusing why there aren’t more gardening shows!
I love Paul James, and he’s right we need more Gardening shows!
I always enjoyed watching "Gardening by the Yard". I'm glad to see Paul is doing well. Thank you.
So great to see Paul James again. I watched him for many years and loved his humor and info he shared. I love this channel and the tips I am learning. Keep them coming,
My first time meeting this lovely man... I wanna watch his shows! Thank you for the making of this video
Nice to see Paul!! What a treat. Thanks, Joe for a great episode.
I love Paul James! I watched him from the beginning!!! I learned so much from him!
PAUL JAMES!! This brought me several emotions! The JOY of seeing him again! The FRUSTRATION that THEY took him off! Then, SADNESS, when will we ever get to see him again?!
Thank you!
Could you talk to him about maybe doing a UA-cam channel??? GOD bless you and Him!
Gardener Guy was my favorite show. I learned so much from him.
What a great episode, as others have said, miss that guy, thanks for bringing him back to all of us!!
I'm really getting into gardening. I've been doing most of my adult life. But want organic and healthy ways to protect and soul prep. I really enjoyed this segment. Thank you both.
Glad to hear it, Troy. As an organic gardener, myself, I have a lot of information that may be helpful to you on my main website at joegardener.com and my UA-cam channel, ua-cam.com/users/joegardenerTV. Thanks!
Thank you for bringing Paul James to your show it was so nice to see him and hear what he has been up to now a days it was a walk down memory lane I was a big fan he was always informative and funny in his deliberation of his shows. We need more gardening shows that is all I seem to watch anyway.
Man this another awesome episode I used to watch every episode of the garden guy it was great to see Paul James again I'm in my late fifties and I worked in my yard no matter where I lived I love growing vegetables and I owe a lot of that from watching the garden guy thanks and keep gardening
Paul is one of a kind!! 💚🙌
Yes! We garden to live a memory. That’s so true. ❤️
This is such great information wish I could turn back the clock and begin again with the things I have learned....
Loved the episode. I watched every episode when Paul was on tv and I agree with Patti yhat hgtv made a big mistake. The show I watch are online like yours Joe and a few others. In Great Britain they have a number gardening shows that are extremely popular. Don't get what's happened here, but keep up the good work
Thanks, Marie. Such a contrast between the British audience and their love and support for gardening and the shows, vs. here. So confounding!
Ooh that was amazing
Thank you Joe
I agree!! He was the best. Is there a way to access his old episodes?? I only discovered him the last few seasons. I learned so much and always laughed. By the way, us "older" tv watchers are the ones with more disposable income. Why target millennials. They are up to their eyeballs in debt. So much for smart marketing on the part of TV executives. Great advise about just enjoying observing the garden.
Woke up in the middle of the night and was thinking about my garden, when should I get the garlic in the ground. That thought took me to Paul James the Gardener Guy, and whalah, hey I bet I can find him on you tube. And here we are. I recorded every episode (I think) to DVD. Gonna pull them out and re watch. Thank you for bringing an old friend back into my living room.
Miss Paul James and his show as well as others that were on HGTV. HGTV has become HTV and that is sad and why I don’t watch any longer. When they bring back the garden shows then I will watch HGTV once again!!
I loved this episode!!!!!!!!!
Miss Gardening By the Yard and Paul James so much. Really don’t watch HGTV anymore because lack of Gardening shows.
Very beautiful sirs.. best regards here from the Philippines..
Thanks for the advice Paul!
great show Joe,
Thanks, Nancy!
To this day, I still quote Paul James when talking about gardening. As for the channel that no longer features gardening......I no longer watch it. They made a poor choice by only showing home shows.
Oh man does this bring back good memories! I love this guy and his show was the best!! I too will NEVER understand why a channel calls itself HGTV but has zero shows on gardening. It should be honest and be renamed The Home Buying/Flipping/Restoring channel. Thank the Lord I can watch this channel at least.
Great channel!
WOW great video, thankful!!
This was such a happy vibe
Paul please make a new show or videos on here l loved your show and miss you!!!!!!!!!
Great episode!!!
Love this!!
miss watching Paul. I hate that HGTV is gone to just home stuff. I live in Tulsa and see Paul at Southwood nursery often. Nice guy in person.
Exactly what he said… at least you have Fruit and I think one of the important things we need to start realizing is that when you get a plant in the ground maybe we should plant quite a few more because it's almost inevitable that some portion of The number of plants will inevitably die for one reason or another
Hey guys great video and nice garden. You guys was wondering what happened to the tomatoes stems. What I have noticed. I truly believe this. A Brown long leg spider. Yes I said that. I seen that. I think the spider injected a chemical. Which makes the stim turn brown on the same branch. Cant save the branch. Its pretty much done. And it travels. That I know. Could be your problem. Best of luck guy's.
Interesting 🤔 tomato in container
I’m going to give it a try :)
I remember...I miss your!
Miss his show and sense of humor.
There aren't more gardening shows because they shouldn't be regulated by commercial advertisers.
This was the best episode.
Paul reinvent yourself on you tube
Interview people/gardeners
And jeep teaching us.
I have become a very good gardener
You were one of the first I learned from.
p.j the garden god
When HGTV got rid of Paul James we got rid of HGTV.
Soooo Loved this episode Thank you watched Paul for years.. Grateful you are on UA-cam watched you as well!!💌🌹HGTV has lost me as a viewer since there is nothing about the G in there name..I am a gardener not a house flipper😳 I am on a plethera of British Gardening UA-camrs so grateful for you in our U.S.A.💌
Thank you, Anna! I'm happy to share what I know on UA-cam too. It's a great resource, that's for sure. But I'm with you about the G in HGTV. Not so much of that anymore. Thanks for your message.
HGTV needs to take the G out of their name. I don’t watch their channel anymore due to the lack of gardening shows. Gardening by the yard was my favorite gardening show. I glad there are gardening shows like Growing a greener world still around.
I totally agree I loved that channel back in the day but stopped gardening shows I don't watch that channel anymore
I also loved Paul James The Gardener Guy show, and miss it very much.
So how about it Paul do it on You Tube your own videos, and I know I will follow you as I love what you teach us about gardening, so get your phone or camera out and do some episodes..........!
Thank you Joe for featuring Paul James on your show, like someone else said it wasn't long enough, but a fabulous show indeed.
Look forward to seeing you really soon on here Paul.....!
Yes. Thank you ☺️
Wow! It is fabulous to see Paul James talking about gardening. I think I saw every "Gardening by the Yard" episode. The lack of educational garden shows on TV is one of reason I do not have cable TV any more, so long as I can watch You Tube gardening like"Growing a Greener World" I will continue to go without the fluff when it comes to not having quality content.
Good feedback, Terri. So unfortunate but interesting to know that UA-cam is filling the void and rapidly becoming a replacement for broadcast television for finding the shows we want to watch. Thanks for your comment.
What a fabulous video. So happy to see James. I totally agree I don't know why they cancelled the show. I cancelled HGTV right after that and have never returned. Thanks for some great ideas and I will look into BS too. Thanks Joe! ps love the last little bit Paul said lol.
Thanks, Denise. It was a fun few days and loved his last bit of wisdom too!
Nice to see the gardener guy How exciting for you to have him on your show...Love the bloopers
Hi Joe I just found your channel and subscribed instantly. It was so good to see Paul James again in my opinion he is a national treasure.
Hi, Jeffrey. Thanks so much! Joe
OMG, just loved seeing Paul again. Loved this episode. Joe, you are helping to carry the torch forward! From another old grey haired mustached gardener guy. :)
Thanks, Veneto!
Have missed Paul James. Good to see him again! Thanks
Paul my wife and I have missed you and your show tremendously never missed an episode or the rose parade. HGTV really took a dump when they moved from the real world to the world of drama.
Great show Joe and Paul. I loved Paul's show on HGTV but sadly HGTV is now focused only on the young who hire all their work done. I watch very little on HGTV now but I don't think there are any garden shows. Joe, I love your programs. Linda
Thanks very much, Linda! Joe
I only heard of Paul J. today, and I really like him... I am sure his gardening show was amazing!
Another great episode Joe! From the old Garden Smart episodes to Paul James The Gardening Guy! All you need now is Rebecca from Rebecca's Garden. Let's get those hands dirty!
Loved seeing Paul James again. I loved his shows!! Thank you for having him on your show.
Thistlesmom - Little Sister , thanks for sending me this video. Just got home a while ago & hadn't had time to check my email videos. This literally brought tears to my eyes ! Paul James' gardening show was a long time Saturday morning tradition for Roger & I for many years. Roger walked in the room right after I started watching this & I said, "Look whose on here !" His face lit up & sat there just grinning as he watched it !
@@ellenfisher6341 I think Paul James needs to start a UA-cam channel.
@@thistlesmom2706 , wouldn't that be wonderful ?!
@@ellenfisher6341 I would love it. I'm sure a lot of people would.
Love this!
Like a torch being passed. Thank you for this episode. Grew up watching him and so happy to see my “then” and “now” coming together. You are both awesome ambassadors of the art of gardening.
Great episode! Great to see Paul James my favorite!
I loved the part where he said “People garden to bring back a memory”. It’s true! And I hope that my kids will garden when they are older.
Natasha...my daughter would never go outside to help me..a total bookworm and bug hater. Somewhere between college and med school...she found gardening. Now that she is a doctor, she finds refuge in her small garden. Her peppers look amazing!! So there is hope!!
WOW.What a GREAT EPISODE this was.It would be GREAT to pick Yours and Pauls brains for gardening info. You need to do more episodes with Paul and podcast. Were we can ask questions.I put this episode tied with The Bronx Machine. The two BEST episodes.
That's saying a LOT, Charlie. Thanks for the huge vote on this one.
Paul was right way less gardening shows. It is kind of weird everyone should grow organic vegetables and then they take the shows off the air.
Very frustrating to lose such great gardening content on TV Charlie!
I loved (I mean really loved) watching Paul's shows! I was very disappointed when they stopped back then. He was always so funny & entertaining, all while teaching so much about gardening. I learned so much from him! Thank you so much for having him on this show, I'm sure you made many people's day (including mine!)!
My pleasure. It was a wonderful experience and I honored that Paul gave me that first opportunity to bring him back in front of the camera. It's been too long for sure!
I watched him every week I really miss him I liked learning from him.
paul james is amazing. words of wisdom.
I sure miss Paul. It’s crazy that the Home and Gardening TV channel has very little to no gardening these days. They need to rename it to the house channel.
I love Paul and personally hate the way HGTV has gone. I miss the gardening shows, but thank goodness for UA-cam, it has been a savior!
I loved your blush, Joe, when Paul complimented your garden. I didn't know that you could do that.
Ha! Yes, that one caught me. Quite a complement and caught me off guard. I'll take it though. Thanks, Reglindis.
Really great seeing Paul again!🌼
"Money poor" not "dirt poor"
I have a "wild meadow", not a "lawn". When I mow it I can use the clippings for mulch or compost.
I cut down the iris leaves and ground them up to add "greens" to my formula for compost. I don't have grass clippings, so this is my way of getting nitrogen mixed in. ( and I can't trust bags of grass clippings from others because I don't want to chance putting chemicals into my place. so I cut up and grind green things and go with that strategy.
Thank you for having Paul James in this episode!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE as noted in the posts below, let Paul Know so many people love him and have tremendous gratitude for his energy and passion shared with all of us. another year or two, my retirement begins and it is focused on a small market garden, my love of fly fishing, and Tai Chi - He was the final "straw" that allowed me to pursue becoming a Master Gardener and merge my love of hands on connection with Nature (including tree to furniture woodworking) with every day of my life. ❤
I so miss Paul....thanks for doing a segment on him!!! Him and Elliot were my super heroes when I was learning to garden. Back when H"G" Tv actually had "G" shows. I Love your work on Growing a Greener World and keeping the tradition alive.
It is a treat to see Paul James, I watched him for years! Not only did I learn so much from his show about gardening, but he also cracked me up, lol! I love your show Joe, you do an amazing job! Thank you for guiding so many of us in our gardening journeys, you are a treasure! Now, can we get the two of you to do more shows together? Such great chemistry between you two!
I used to get up early on the weekend to see his show on HGTV. It was so great. Good honest and wholesome TV. He was like the Bob Ross in a garden.
Omg he got me into gardening. Love his attitude on the show!
Love and miss Paul James!
I have so missed Paul! His was my favorite show❤️ Thank you so much for this great segment!!!
