Sweet, I was already on track to get a Jam for Xmas, was wondering when they would announce Bitwig integration seeing as their product demo pages have Bitwig as the DAW.
@@klausherbert3040 three years later, but I have a VX49 and its intergated even better than in ableton thanks to a custom mapping with Jürgen Mossgrabers Flexi scipt. Yes, nieche hardware does not work ootb, but its super easy to make it behave just like you want, something I cannot say about ableton.
Thanks for the Good Works, Buddy! I have a specific question re this setup of yours that I can't solve (yet!). I'm using a single instance of M2 nested in my BWS (3.2) project as Track 8. I want to have 6 or so "regular" BW tracks (running Omnisphere, Massive, some audio in for captures, etc), and IDEALLY be able to duplicate each of those 6 tracks individually WITHIN the M2 VST as you did in this video (and use 2 more regular machine kits in two more M2 tracks for beatz): this way I could organically build up my jamz/clips (I'm an everything live guy, make it, love it, let it go: smoke rings in the wind, y'know?) in BW and when I have stuff I like I can move over to The Jam and fuck with it ALL from there, but I really want to be able to use the features of control separately for each of those incoming BW sources. Not always gonna want to stutter or effects-melt ALL of my incoming BW tracks, yeah? Also want to be able to mix them and mute/solo etc from WITHIN Jam. That is: once I've built my licks, be able to look away from computer for good and just mess with it all. Prolly move it over near my HydraSynth and riff over the top of everything there.
Can I send you a Hairbrush! Brilliant tutorials. And the Bitwig tutorials as well. And you're seriously cool. And you have Nine Inch Nails in your credits. And I have none of that. But I do have a hairbrush! Humour is stealing my guitar buzz today. My humour can be painful. Top man. Thank you mate.
Great video mate What parameters does the Lock function save? Is it internal M-Jam settings that will output control over a DAW like Bitwig or only internal Maschine software parameters? If internal does it can we lock VST settings? Cheers
Just to clarify. When you was using maschine, the bitwig clip was blank and remained blank. So if I wanted to change my drum patterns using the clips it wouldn't because I'll be using the plugins midi and not writing to bitwigs clips. This would probably cause maschine to keep playing the same pattern and bitwig clip not updating by what maschine is doing. So how is that useful?
I've upgraded both Bitwig and the Controller Editor to the latest versions. Though the Bitwig site says that there's a Bitwig template for Maschine Jam, and I see for Jam in the Controller Editor are "Maschine Jam" 1-4, but nothing about Bitwig. And so far, I can't find installation instructions on putting it all together. What am I missing?
Wow, I really had to dig. But, once I updated the Controller Editor, via Service Center, there is a separate document that I had to search for via Spotlight on my Mac called "Maschine Jam Bitwig Studio Template Manual," which I stumbled on after doing a simple "Maschine Jam" search, and then scrolling until I found it. It will direct you on setting up the template, and go over the features and commands. I only have Bitwig 8-Track, but it seems to work there just fine.
How to change the vertical/horizontal view of Scenes and Instrument tracks? Per default the scenes appear as rows when expanded in the arranger view , and I didn't get a hint to change that view, so far.
Press Shift+Song to switch between vertical/horizontal modes. Though in horizontal (my preferred view) it doesn't seem to actually trigger the clips properly :(
I'm slightly disappointed that I can't use the Jam to browse Bitwig's preset library using the rotary encoder, but maybe there's a way to hack that to make it work (I have hacked other Bitwig controller scripts). However, I'm very impressed by the workflow otherwise, this is great.
Dear people, i really neet to know hoy to configure a "clip button" in order to "press a button in my keybord and delete a clip", because i can't be all the time moving the cursor and deletinn one by one. HOw can i don this?? please, help me if u can. Thanks a lot
It's in the Maschine 2.5 software. I'm using Maschine MK2 and discovered i can use the "strips/performance" fonction with the trackpad or mouse ... But you can only use 1 effect at the time..
So there's no reason to use bitwig then if I'm understanding this right?Didn't see any midi being inputted on the bitwig clip launcher when using maschine jam? What happens if I decide to use another clip. Does maschine loop the same drum pattern or does it update with the clip launcher?
Hello, this is Thavius Beck... if you watch the beginning of the video, the main parts of the drum beat were done with Bitwig, and also when using the arpeggiator in Maschine I was sending MIDI back to the polysynth in Bitwig. Also, I was changing Lock states using MIDI notes in MIDI clips from Bitwig, so both play significant roles in the demo. As far as using another clip, I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but changing clips in Bitwig won't necessarily alter what's happening in Maschine unless you set it up that way... hopefully that clarifies things a bit...
Yeah I was just saying that Bitwig is not recording midi data from Maschine to it's clips. Bitwig when hosting is just for effects. So if I wanted to use Maschine as an instrument for bitwig and wanted my input written to each clip I can't. So and you mentioned, "changing clips in Bitwig won't necessarily alter what's happening in Maschine unless you set it up that way..." That would make a very interesting video because that is what would make it really worth while! Thanks for the response...
Don't bye Jam if you have another Komplete hardware like Keyboard S49 if you work in Bigwig...Really not convenient, just waisting money....If you have two hardwares of Komplete, then its a big bullshit honestly
Short answer. It's a disaster. Half assed script (never, ever updated) and one big I don't give a fuck both form Bitwig and especially Native Instruments. Script is like: Here, have some blinking buttons and fuck off.
I think these universal controllers make things just too complicated. You got a pile of colored buttons which do something else in every second. How is this self explaining or intuitive? It is blind menu diving. I think you are better off to click with your mouse, at least you see what you are doing.
TB is a brilliant teacher. But I can5 stand Kontakt/Maschine. VST. They’re just really bad DAWs. Or complicated sequencers. Made doubly complicated by the set up. There are just far too many buttons that do the same things. And unless you have a powerful computer all NI products do is hog the CPU. NI should be great for everyone. But it’s only great for half of us. Which makes NI shit. Doesn’t it?
Thavius is all over bitwig! I only switched last summer, so so glad I did. Great community of super nerds.
watch this over and over very intriguing thavius vid of the month
This was INCREDIBLY HELPFUL!!!
Finally connecting this two worlds... was waiting for that :-)
Sweet, I was already on track to get a Jam for Xmas, was wondering when they would announce Bitwig integration seeing as their product demo pages have Bitwig as the DAW.
You did it. Thanks for the demo!
The only qualm I have with Bitwig is hardware support, and that's continually being improved. I'll have to pick up a copy when some money comes in.
Still waiting since ages to support my M-Audio Code 49 :-/

New bitwig/Maschine Jam user. Do I always have to have Controler Editor (the little NI software where you chose the bitwig template for the JAM) open?
I already have a Push2 with controller script. Will Maschine Jam add enough value to justify adding it to my setup or is there a lot of overlap?
It would be awesome if Maschine 3.0 is just a bitwig license lol
really cool demo!
is there a possibility to browse presets and add new instruments track directly from maschine jam in bitwig ?
Where do we get the script? Also can we modify the script to work with other Machine controllers?
awesome stuff, thanks for the demo

Great combo!
Hello, is there a similar template for regular Maschine 2? Thanks.
Yeah, I'd love to have that too!
This is really useful...thank you!
can i do everything on my maschne mk2 on the jam? anything its missing?

This was very helpful thanks so much man!
I would like to see an actual controller for bitwig just like push2

Yo, Thavius. Soultan from Blowed. Question: can Maschine Studio do all that stuff you did with performance mode???
It's in the Maschine 2.5 software. I'm using Maschine MK2 and discovered i can use the "strips/performance" fonction with the trackpad or mouse ... But you can only use 1 effect at the time..

Has anyone done an updated one for maschine mk2 yet?
dope vid

Maschine is both standalone and VST/AU plugin.
thx beck!
great video
very good job thanks !
Can this do note nudge in bitwig? Anyone?
