That is "their" cabinet! I put it in the middle of the kitchen as an island but they were on it right away. They sit on the cabinet and never get up on any counters or the table, so that was their good idea. And whenever I'm in the kitchen they are up there and watching me.
The main reason black cats don't get adopted as easily is because they don't photograph as well as other fur patterns, sadly. Which is honestly just as stupid and petty in my opinino.
@@coppermeowmix I agree and always told people in all the rescues I work with to put a bandanna on the ones that were okay with it, or something colorful at least. Living with so many black cats I can tell you it's a challenge and takes a lot of practice. But even in the fur it's difficult to get them attention. I love black cats so much. I once had a black cat named Midnight, fluffiest and sweetest thing ever. I miss her everyday, it's never the same without my outdoor cat laying on my chest
@@BernadetteKazmarskiAnd the worst part is I still remember the day too. My mum had just picked me up from school and it was a rough day too, fight with friends, we were almost out from the school when Mum pulled over. We had taken Midnight in for an injury by her ear. When Mum got that call, she let it play on for a bit (without me knowing because earphones) and then she pulled over, bursting into tears. I questioned what was wrong and that's when she let me know the news that Midnight was gonna have to be put down. I had less than a day left of her when she was put down, she was so confused by me and my older brother were crying (we were the only ones there because my family felt it was right, since she loved me and him truly) and when she passed, I remember feeling how cold she was and moving her tail. It was really really heartbreaking for me and that was carried over to the current elder cat, Salty. She's 16 (the second oldest cat we've had, first was Marissa who lived to 20 before passing in her sleep!) and I'm so scared she'll pass when I'm away from her, I want to be there for her like I could've been for Midnight. @@king_of_nothing1808Hey, don't worry. I still tear up over cats I lost decades ago when I unexpected see a photo or I'm telling someone a story about them. Love is forever. And it's one of the good things about social media that we can share things like this with like-minded people who have had experiences like yours and understand how you feel. That's the only way to heal. Actually, I lost four of the cats in that video, unexpectedly, between June 2023 and just a month ago at the beginning of March. Their mom is still with me at 20, they were 16, and all had genetic markers for cancer, it was like they'd reached their expiration date. This video is a little touchy for me because it's so real, and I miss this so painfully. Just about the time I lost the last one on March 1 this video started going viral. It's a little difficult to answer all the comments, but on the other hand it's very healing. My beloved Four Cats of the Apocalypse won't be forgotten. All these people watching their video and commenting, it's actually helping me along. So don't worry about dumping, losing an animal companion can be way harder than a human because we have closer bonds with them sometimes. That's hard to give up.
I'm so sorry to hear that! I actually lost four of the cats in this video in the past year, they were siblings, and the little one second from the right is their mother--she's still with me. When people visited here they would lead them to this cabinet in the kitchen and the visitor would have to pet them all at the same time, with only two hands, or they'd get tails in their faces and headbutts. And you really could hug them all at once, but they would squirm.
Actually, they do what they do and I follow them around. They have me trained pretty well! But this spot in the kitchen is always good for a photo opp.
When I was growing up in the 60s everyone said that cats were aloof, they were loners, they were unfriendly, they bit and scratched you, but that was only because they were taken away from the mothers way too young either in a home or in the shelter, and they never got their full socialization and training to be a cat. Now that we know so much more about their development and socialization, and there is so much more respect for cat than there used to be, I'm so glad people see in cats what I saw all those years ago.
The cabinet they are on is their observation post in the kitchen, and any time I'm in there, there's a chance of FOOD. They did this just about every day, but it never got old for me.

@BernadetteKazmarski I had cats my whole life, the one with the priest collar I found on the street while he still needed his mother to clean and feed him... his face was so dirty, thats how i knew he had been separated from her a while, he was so hungry, with one eye forced shut from lack of cleaning, he rushed Towards me and my bicycle. I put him in my shirt pocket, peddled home, went out got a bottle N kitten formula so he can eat, because he just stared at the can food. @@queencatlady I don't know if you remember that before them I lost a kitten named Lucy to FIP--back in the years before any treatment. Mimi "belonged' to a neighbor a few doors away across the street with a bunch of unaltered cats. I got on their good side and convinced them to give me all the kittens and I worked on my own, with other rescuers and the shelters to find them all homes before they were dumped somewhere. Not all were adopted--that was Lucy. Mimi was indoor-outdoor and hunted in my garden all the time. The day I had Lucy put to sleep me and the four of my household who were left--I also lost my four oldest cats in the year before Lucy--were looking out the basement door and there came little Mimi waddling out of my garden looking like she'd swallowed a small watermelon, pregnant with another litter. Lucy told me to rescue here so I told the neighbor Mimi might have this medical condition her kitten had died from and they gave her to me--a total lie, FIP doesn't work like that. The kittens were three days old. They were all a joy from the beginning, healed my heart from losing five cats in 18 months, and inspired me to new and different artwork. They were healthy as rocks until 2022. Each of them seems to have had a genetic marker for cancer, each had one or another cancer, Mewsette in June, Jelly Bean in July, Giuseppe in December, Mr. Sunshine just last month on March 1. Mimi understood what was happening, she and Mewsette were really close so she turned to the others after her loss, and one by one until Mr. Sunshine. They were really close those last two months. She saw him, she knew when he died, but two days after we lost him she went looking for him, around the house and even around the yard, with a pitiful little meow. I spent a lot of time with her after that and she didn't look for him again, but she was very quiet for a while. They were very physical with each other, slept in a heap, bathed each other, hung out together, and I have seven others from TNR and rescue of whom the oldest is 12, but no one to cuddle with. So she spends more time on my lap now. She seems to be in good spirits by now.
@@queencatlady I remember Ms. Phoebe, though I don't think I'm picturing the right cat because I'm seeing a dilute calico or tortie. I remember when Lola came along, and Dawn lost her so young. This litter was named for characters in the opera "La Boheme," hence their mother is Mimi, but their names all drifted as kittens--my doing--and even though that opera was written by Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe suited him far better. That is "their" cabinet! I put it in the middle of the kitchen as an island but they were on it right away. They sit on the cabinet and never get up on any counters or the table, so that was their good idea. And whenever I'm in the kitchen they are up there and watching me.
Bless all black cats and the people who are actually evolved enough to embrace all creatures and don't pay attention to stupid superstitions.
Absolutely. I hope to set a good example and encourage others.
The human eye is attracted to color and pattern, so the calicos and gingers and tabbies, Siamese and other pointed breeds, get seen first.

I love black cats so much. I once had a black cat named Midnight, fluffiest and sweetest thing ever. We had to put her down at 9 or 10 years old because she had a mass in her stomach the size of a softball or baseball and she was too weak and sick to go through surgery. I miss her everyday, it's never the same without my outdoor cat laying on my chest
I'm so sorry you lost her that young, and what a painful illness for her. You have wonderful memories, but they are really not enough.
Midnight passed away almost 4 years ago now, not a day goes by where I don't miss my baby

They're adorable! Black cats, like all other cats, are sweet and beautiful. ❤
As a person who increasingly loves black cats, I see heaven before me here.

I got 2 black cats with the white spot on neck... like a priest collar. Third one is solid blk
🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
Oh, the second one in from the left here I called Father Rodolfo when he was little--his white spot is actually a little rectangle on his neck just like a clerical collar but he's leaning forward so you can't see all of it. He was the only one of this litter who had a white spot, I think his brothers always called him a mutant.
Once I wiped his face with a warm wet cloth, his eye popped open.
That was 8 years ago, that cat hardly never leaves my side when I'm in a the house. These cats possess an intelligence and sense of gratitude like I never seen with any other cat.

Getting them all to stay put like that in a pose is crazy. Reminds me of taking screenshots in Fallout 4 with 7 companions all in the same shot. You can direct people, but directing animals and AI is a whole different ball game.
They are in the kitchen, and the cabinet they are sitting on was to be a little kitchen island for me, but they took over the island within hours of me placing it there. Their idea turned out to be the better one--they will sit there all day, even nap there or sleep overnight, but they never get on the counters or stove or anything else. That's why they are all gathered there--they do it all the time.

@@BernadetteKazmarski I wasn’t a blogger but Ms. Phoebe had a page. She passed 10 years ago now and I’ve had a few kitties since but she was my soul cat, special needs. I met so many great people through her. I cannot believe Lola is gone. I remember when Dawn brought her home. 😿🌈
I didn’t know you lost all four this past year. That is heart breaking. How has Mimi taken it? A mama outlives her babies, that must be hard. Did they get sick with something that they all got or was it just a random thing they all went in one year? I empathize with how you feel, I lost two in one year in 2017 and I never thought I’d get through it.
I adopted a special needs Siamese/Ragdoll mix a few months after and she has been a joy. How many do you have other than Mimi? It’s a special and once in a lifetime thing to have a black mamma cat have all black babies and then keep them together- what a gift to cherish. 💜💙💜💙
