For nearly $150 they could have included a pair of $2 trauma shears.
*It's great not only to access a wound but also to create more bandages in the field, cutting blankets, clothes, tablecloth etc.*
This is obviously a paid video. The Micro Trauma Kit Now! (previous video) has been around for more than a year. The Tauma Kit Now many more years. This is just a round of marketing that BlueForce Gear is doing, paying YouToubers to "review" their kits.
I see what you are saying but then what? Should they add another compressed gauze? Should they add a SWAT-T? What I am saying is you can add what you want but every time we tell companies to do this and that you could be baby stepping your way to this kit being too expensive and too large. I do think adding the shears to your personal kit is a good idea and since they don’t include it, you can choose X-shears, 2$ shears, etc. Nice idea to think about trauma shears.👍🏻
i mean if you are angry about no shears, get some yourself. There is space, especially if you get their shear hammock. As you said its $2 so its not that expensive lol
We just got issued new IFAKs and as a solo line medic I couldn't be happier with the ones we are taking for our deployment.
If it still fits the kit, in addition to the Needle Dec. Needle I‘d also add some kind of rescue/„space“ blanket to the advanced kit so I avoid hypothermia from the beginning and keep my patient‘s blood clotting as I want it too.
Every time you show a B.F.G kit I have to buy it. Nice work. I buy a pack and build it with the info from content you make thanks. Nice work.
I have this pack on my belt at the small of back, and I find it way easier and faster to get out in a pinch.
3:45 very cool graphic transition .
Didn't even notice it haha
Thank you!
8:09 style is always important while saving lives
You forgot to Loop the CenterPoint...
You have to fold up the elastic and tuck it underneath there...
I've seen several videos now on this same ifak kit and I think I'm gonna go ahead and get it to put in my backpack I ride my motorcycle very often and having this kit would give me piece of mind while riding around on these west texas streets on my bike
Great video, Sam! What's that in the background? Lol! Congratulations on your Silver Play Button! Keep up the great work! I'm so proud of what you have done!
Thanks brother! I remember emailing you when I was thinking of starting out asking your advice. I appreciate the support man.
@@PrepMedic I have an idea, Sam. Email inbound to your location.
@@PrepMedic since there are those who have a preference on IFAK/First Aid Medal/Trauma Kit I'm listing as many/much actual Medical Storage options as I can possibly/realistically find that have Medical Cross, the initials IMP & MED stitched in 4 them 2 choose as interior IFAK Medical from already filled up - empty 4 customly filling up (Meds (Medication), Severe Bleeding & Blister / Burn / Wound Care) 2 their liking regardless of Backpack/Duffle Bag Color scheme they get! Plus anything without stitched in Medical Cross as well as the initials IMP & MED are more a GP (General Purpose) Utility 4 variety of other kits/stuff!
Seems like there's room in that advanced kit for a bit of duct tape, burn dressing, pair of shears, decomp needle, extra eye guard, sharpie, and some ibuprofin, and you've got yourself a well rounded full size IFAK.
Inside the advanced kit, you also need an NCD needle. A 14 ga/3.25 inch needle or the SPEAR needle.
The new setup looks amazing
You have a good speech for those who do not speak English well enough. You speak individually and clearly. Thanks. I wonder something, Why there is no "Celox (hemostatic agent)", "israeli bandage" and "Splint Roll Aluminium" in the ifak kit. Please check "SAM® Chest Seal 2.0 - Vented"
Looks pretty decent. Key point, know how to use these things before you have to use them.
In reality you should pack material that allows you to treat the ABC’s.
By the way, any idea where I can get battle dressings that used to be carried in Navy Unit 1’s?
I wish they would make an all velcro version of the insert and follow the same idea as their backpacks- so you can custom fit your own loops/mesh pockets/etc. I love the tkn but not the way the loops are setup. I snagged one of their "large" tkns a few years ago which I wish they'd also bring back
Based on new studies, you do not want to cover both eyes unless is damage to both eyes or is an impaled object in one of the eyes. Studies have shown that is you cover just one eye, movement will not create more damage. This is part of the new guidelines for eye injuries, and it is included in the new COTCC guidelines. The good thing about the eye shield is that prevent applying pressure to the eye which can create a compartment syndrome type injury on the eye area.
Such a subtle display of the UA-cam award.
Lol I am proud of that sucker
Needs neon backlighting... maybe some chaser lights around it. ;)
I have to build my own first aid kid (ifak) since I have often forgotten my main medical kit in the car. I have used a chocolate eggshell and it has gone pretty well.
The experience makes me too confident for short walks to the point it can hurt :( I noticed I tend to intentionally forget my main medical kit in the car to save weight because "I can always jump back for it if needed".
By "short walks" I mean mountain trips for 1-2 kilometers away from the car. I have used to consider this a small distance but suddenly realized that depending on the injury it could turn to a "far distance".
Then I have started thinking of a solution. I have researched all mini medical kits. But then a problem occurs! As a difference to my mine medical kid where I have pills especially selected to my problems and often injuries all the kits that are sold out are with too basic equipment (bands, cotton, etc).
I realized I already have these basics and could build my own kit. But in that kit, I'll add all the pills and tools I need.
First I needed to find a stable and small enough box for it. Luckily my kids love chocolate eggs and I had a few plastic eggshells around. Get my main medical kit and start working.
And tadaa! I believe I have prepared one of the smallest and full IFAK kits ever.
(update: I have recently cut myself in the forest and this eggshell save me from bleeding)
Here is what I've got in my pocket-size IFAK:
Stomach help
Active carbon
Water purifying tablets
Anty allergenic
2 x Safety Pins
Hand sanitizer Straw
Toothpaste Straw
3 x Bands
Compressed Cotton
Micro knife
Do you have a mini IFAK with you? What can I add or remove from mine in your opinion?
Links are broken. Would love to purchase the advanced kit you showed. If you update it I’ll use your link.
I wish they had something size wise between this on the mini ifak.
They just came out with a new lineup that has a mid sized pack I believe.
@@PrepMedic is that he line up they were talking about mid 2021.
Yeah. Never saw them get released though
I like the pouch! Thanks for sharing!
Can you do a video on when and how to use the eye shield?
I love this channel
Great video Sam 👍
Is it NIR compliant?
Great review.
its made from a 1000D Cordura, wow you can use it as a Rifle Plate pretty much lol, I had seen IIIA armor made from 500D I can only assume 1000D can stop a rifle round, even though I don't think it would, worth it to take it out to the range with Demolition Ranch to give it a try, if it can, then for $80 starting price its well worth it lol, good to know some vital equipment will be as safe as I would be
I have hard time believing that 1000d cordura can stop 55.6 bullet. How did you come to that idea?
I think you might be confusing materials... Almost every high end pouch is made with cordura nylon and none of them will stop bullets of any caliber.
@@abccde3832 www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sioen-tacticum-neck-and-shoulders-protection-nij-iiia/58229 this is 500D Cordurua listed as its only material
@@PrepMedic www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sioen-tacticum-neck-and-shoulders-protection-nij-iiia/58229 from this, the 500D Cordura is listed as its only material, if supposedly that can stand a pistol round with that... I don't know I am still learning ballistic materials, nothing made from Graphene yet, I would appreciate your insight Sam
But that is layers upon layers of bonded nylon. Not just one sheet of it.
How big should the pouch be? also, Is 600D nylon okay?
I wonder if this can be mounted horizontally on molle?
Could you please consider doing a video on being a SAR medic?
What would be a good kid carry on a duty belt? I have a tourniquet mounted on my belt but because my backup is anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes at the very least from me at any given time I need something that I can mount my belt but not simple key to get in and out of my patrol car. I was looking at the small version of the Blue Force Gear medical kit
Try their Micro Trauma Kit Now. I reviewed it a couple weeks ago.
My experience with duct tape is that it mends with the surface it is taped on. A colleague of mine said theyd tried duct taping on bare chest and left it for a couple of hours. Skin came off with the tape.
Do you know if the area he was in was particularly hot or cold?
@@vegonstruct5786 temperate climate, normal Day acticities indoor and outdoor. Look, I duct taped my Phone to the dashboard for lack of better rigging when in need of GPS mapping and I still have residue on there from The duct tape. That stuff mends.
Question: Between the trauma kit now and the advanced one, the only difference is the content right ? Is the bag the same ??
Can hemostasis gauze be used to pack wounds?
Yes.
Informative
Hey prep medic just wondering where I can purchase some decompression needles online any ideas?
Edit: thanks for the suggestions guys
OP NIGHTWING you can get some at North American rescue
North American Rescue, but always get proper training.
North American
#PrepMedic Brother two questions. Can't the casualty still see with the eye shield they provide? TCCC wise would you want a casualty who can somewhat see where both of you are going in terms of survivability?
*It depends on the situation. If you're in the wild and your patient needs to hike for miles before you get to the nearest hospital, then cover just the injured eye.*
*If your patient is in the ambulance or carried on a stretcher you can cover both eyes.*
*Of course if you're taking enemy fire and your patient needs to return fire after an eye injurey then don't cover the non-injured eye.*
JoeDurobot received and agreed
I always get static when I see a new video
Yes
Can you do the squad medic bag from NAR?
While I love all the options that are out there on the market I am constantly distressed at the price point of the basic pouches. The general public are definitely being price gouged and influenced to buy specialty pouches for life-saving equipment.
I disagree, the prices are pretty standard across the board for the pouches but pretty much every company offers at price vacuum sealed kits with no case
@@PrepMedic I'm actually referring to the base price of the pouch to begin with.
And yes, medic pouches all priced very comparably but I still think they are overpriced. But then again, specialty equipment like a medic pouch usually is.
Yeah, I can’t really blame them for charging what they do. A lot goes into quality manufacturing. There is a reason condor stuff is so cheap.
@@PrepMedic yes and there's also an argument to be made that the well-known Brands can get away with charging more but that's everything in life. My personal favorite Medical Kit is the emdom b.o.m.b I keep buying other brands and other styles but I keep going back to that one. Thanks for your videos and have a great day
Does the SO you work for give you money or like an allowance for equipment or do they issue you stuff? Does some of the equipment you use come out of your own pocket?
I don’t work for a SO anymore. I moved to Colorado with my wife. While I was there though they gave me $400 a year to buy team supplies and the first year they gave me much more just to get the kit squared away.
@@PrepMedic thank you for the quick reply love the Chanel keep up the hard work and stay safe
$80 for a pouch only?
No thanks, I'll stick with my current IFAK that was half that price and solid
Make your own kit for less than 30 bucks and stay away from gimmicks .
@@QuantumMechanic_88 How for less than 30..... I just got the bare minimum in my opinion from the cheapest source I could find (Med Gear Outfitters and amazon). A REAL Cat TQ is $25-30 just by its self... I spent about $90. I dont have a decompression needle, or any tape yet.. The rest is there.
$80 for an incomplete, to-be-replaced IFAK? No thanks.
I love BFG products.
Link fuor shop please
One Hundred and fifty dollars for a pressure bandage, chest seal, gauze, clotting gauze and an eye shield..I dont have that much money for this product sorry
The pouch is also a part of it. It looks like a good product. But, I agree that it's too expensive.
Make your kit .
You can make up a good trauma kit for less. $20 for the Orca Tactical Ifak, 20-30 for a Gen 7 Nar Tourniquet, 10-12 for twin pack hyfin chest seals etc. Just take your time
Do a collab with John Lovell
Les gants noirs ne sont pas à préconiser... car il devient compliqué d'avoir un visu des fluides, il est préférables d'avoir des gants de couleur clair.
And again... no chance to buy it in europe... damn it sucks.... and i would stick to the bolin chest seal...is offend superior glue imho
CovermanGER I had no idea so many of these companies don’t sell overseas.
PrepMedic we have some good stuff but I don’t get it why you liberated us from tyranny to leave us like that.. just kidding but I could name hundreds of items for edc or basic preparation we can’t purchase ... or spend a fortune on handling, shipping and customs... thank you for your sympathy and understanding though...
Hey can I still be a emt even with limited range of motion in my wrist
Melvin Holmes
Yes you can. I am a paramedic from Texas and have been since 1998. I was born with cerebral palsy. It is all in how you adjust and find ways to do things in your own way. No one will care how you do your job as long as you can take care of your patient. If you would like to talk sometime I would love to give you some tips and tricks I have learned over the years. Best of luck to you
Heath Garton that would be great I’m struggling with it I’m so limited on what careers I can do now
Just try. The worst you can be told is no
Why would you not just buy your IFAK fill kit from the manufacturer rather than paying a mark up from Blue force????????
Are you a paramedic or a EMT
jon r paramedic
@@PrepMedic cool I am only twelve and that is what I want to do
Wayyyyy too expensive. As if all of blue force gears stuff. Trust me, I know cause I’ve given them a lot of money. It’s quality gear though for sure. But damn is it really necessary to be THAT expensive? They’d sell a lottttt more stuff if they would lower their prices a bit.
It seems to me that every one of these blue force gear kits just miss the mark in one way or another, especially for the price you pay. No trauma shears? Only one chest seal? Doesn't include a CAT? Come on now
Way too big for patrol operation...
Their Micro Trauma Kit Now works better for belts. This one really would wrk best of a plate carrier.
The basic kit sucks!
The price is right, but I would like to see them put in some better standard equipment. Would be as easy as putting in chest seals and replacing the TK4 with a CAT.
Welcome to UA-cam. This is a paid video. The Micro Trauma Kit Now! (previous video) has been around for more than a year. The Tauma Kit Now many more years. This is just a round of marketing that BlueForce Gear is doing, paying YouToubers to "review" their kits.
Sean Stevens negative. All I got was the kits to evaluate. I don’t take any money for reviews. I see gear that I think looks good and ask companies to send me samples for the channel.
