Rat tourniquets are great. You can use them to tie down a Christmas tree to your roof, or maybe clean up some messy wires behind your computer. I think a rats is as good or better than Home Depot twine.
Serious question, what is the reason people knock the RATS? I have a couple and tested them out and confirmed I don't get a pulse when they're applied. I carry both CATS and RATS in my EDC bag. I really would like to know what arguments there are against them so I know if I have to throw them out.
Come off with patient movement, difficult to apply, especially when saturated with blood, high occlusion pressures which cause more tissue damage and pain then others on the market, loosens over time, no appreciable advantage over CATs which can fit on an extremity 5cm around (smaller limbs then that can be managed with a pressure dressing due to lower blood pressures in pediatric populations). K9TECC recommends the SWAT-T, not the RATs.

I post this on every IFAK video I remember to. If youre not in a warzone with people who have already been screened and denied over diabetes... you need glucose gel in your med kit. Glucose gel comes in packets with 15g of glucose. 15g of glucose is the suggested dosage for hypoglycemic diabetic shock. And gel (unlike tablets) can be administered to an unconscious patient. Add glucose gel packets to your med kit. You will be around more diabetics than GSWs anywhere outside the military.
Trail Recon's channel reviewed the smaller condor style pouch version of this kit. Also, regarding the hard to find because of all the pockets, always look in your kit! Get to know where things are, see if anything is missing, and/ or add or replace items.
Also, the great thing about kits like this is that you could rearrange and customize the setup (e.g., move MARCH-E all up front and to one side and move the rest of the kit to the other side). Also one thing you would want to do with this kit is situate anything relating to trauma with the trauma gear (i.e. tape the lube to the npa package, move the gloves to a more accessible area, etc.). Like you said, always got through your kit and set it up for the simplest ease of use in emergency situations
Pretty nice basic kit. It covers a lot of areas and would be good for an average person to keep in the car and/or take it camping, etc. The one downside that I see, and you touched on it, is they use their own "home brand" materials. I have certain personal preferences for items like HyFin chest seals, SAM splints, SOFT-W or CAT tourniquets, H&H H bandage pressure dressings, etc. Some items I'm willing to pay for the peace of mind of what I consider quality items. And the price for this set-up is a little more than I would be willing to pay for a kit filled with other than optimum (IMO) materials. Good, honest review. Peace.

Where did you find a good Molle panel to attach to a vehicle seat? To keep a MyMedic kit from rolling about.
Thank you for making this video!
Have you heard about TSAMPA???
TSAMPA and water should always be in your EDC.
Interesting option. Just wish the display model was a little less 'tact-A-cool' i.e. red/orange.
agreed! i too am getting tired of everything being tacticool, and would like to see something with more visibility like orange, red, blue, heck even yellow or a bright green. maybe even have a great big star of life printed on it or a red cross, just to let everyone know what it is, so if someone else is sent to my truck to grab it, it would stand out.
I bought their standard myfak and added to it a pack of quickclot, hyfin Chest seals, CAT Tourniquet, nasalpharangeal airway, and a handful of normal bandaids their advanced version is a rip off
I requested to buy just the bag. They charge $120 for the basic version with the supplies... the bag was $40 all the stuff I use costs way less than what they charge
@@rjnottingham4577 yeah I know I got 30% off though and didn’t really have any first aid kit so it was worth it to me but since I’ve used a couple things I buy the bulk packs to replace stuff and have been thinking about spending the time of planning out and buying the boxes of every component and building like 5-10 kits for the price of 1-2 not sure what I’ll use for a bag/container yet
Can we have a link to the pouch plz
Are any of these supplies sensitive to heat or cold if you were to keep them in a vehicle for any length of time?
anyone know an *empty* comparable bag? The bag with its molle/velcro attachment, its many subdivision pockets and its overall size and design looks perfect for my needs but I already got most items from inside. Great vid, many thanks for introducing me to that cool thing!
I am pretty sure you can buy this bag empty from MyMedic. Shoot them an email and ask.
Question. Is there a company where you can buy just the bag and make your own first aid/trauma kit. If not do you recommend something. Ive thought about just buying one of the kits and then just using it and just taken things out or adding things that I want.
Can you review the Pro model and tell us what you would add and/or take out?
Dear mister Sam,
I have a question a lot of swat members from different units/organisations don't wear balaclava's/face mask's in Amerika. Is there a reason for that. Because in most European countries the operators wear balaclava's or any type of face shield to hide their identity. Greetings Sven.
P.S.
I really like your videos.
On there website for this product there is a standard kit and a pro kit. Buy looking at them I’d say this review is on the pro kit
Is there a premade kit type setup that you highly recommend?
Why do you not like the rats tourniquet? About a year ago I got a four pack to keep in different places. I thought it a good idea as I carry every day. I found out about them on recommendation by John Lovell with Warrior Poet Society. I took him on his word as he’s former army Ranger.
It has high occlusion pressures, comes off with patient movement, and is objectively less effective then other COTCCC options on the market. John is a very capable dude and has a ton of experience but ultimately medical isn’t his main wheelhouse.
Be a good step forward if you can start teaching or showing practical use of these products. Wound packing, splints, etc....... how to
Already have videos on all of that, go to my first aid playlist.
Looks like a pretty good kit
I realy realy like that FAK ! 👍
I work as a Paramedic & Firefighter,
is it possible to get that pouch without the medical equipment??
greetings from germany 👍🇩🇪
Email their customer services. I’ve just ordered a MyFak Large, pouch only, without the med kit, which is being sent to EU.
Fo to their website. Go to bags
please tell what plate carrier set up is directly behind you ..
Have any of your videos covered dressing amputations?
I never understand why they put sunblock in first aid kits
I‘d use it as expansion to the mandatory First Aid Kit so I won’t use the mandatory Kit and it will still be in shrinkwrap she I‘m in a Trafficstop and the Police won’t check every single Item for the date of expiration.
Where can I get just the bag????
"Due to covid they are out of finger splints"......um how?
Manufacturing shutdowns.
@@PrepMedic Interesting. I just got a recon a few months ago and of course added a CAT and raptors on the outside and replaced the chest seal with 2 hyfin vents. I also tossed in a stethoscope, pulse ox, headlamp, some biohazard bags, and a sharpie.
Rat tourniquets can be used for small adults or children and even K9s. So I would not get rid of it.
What a good first aid kit that is accessible on Amazon.ca that I could just toss in my backpack and go?
I did a good bit of searching on there a while back. There's nothing good there. If you want a ready made one, my favorite company is the high threat innovations trauma pak. If you wanna build it yourself, and amazon is the only option, there's a good bit of medical equipment on there, take a look at a list that's on one of those trauma paks, or any other trauma kit, and buy the parts individually, and get a bag that suits your needs. It's not recommended to buy medical supplies on amazon, but as long as you look at the seller, and they're reputable, you should be fine. Just make sure to check for fakes
@@Tommymad1 thanks for the information
What is this opening system called?
Clam shell?
Curious where your opinion is on the My Medic Large vs LT Creed Get Home alive pack. These are the two I am considering. would love anyones opinion. thanks.
Personally I am partial to the LTC get home alive kit.
Anyone know what the bag is (large one ) what make is the bag?
do you know what size the gloves are?
Lost all credibility with the RATS twine. Just make your own. So much cheaper and more cost effective. Go through Medical Gear Outfitters
No needle d?
nice review
Nice kit
Is this the Large Standard or Pro?
That was the Pro
What makes a good finger splint
A tongue depresser
Doctor?

Damn does the discount code still work
I want the bag but not all the trash in it
I'm confused he likes it but change this change that don't use this I've never tested that ??????????
I liked it but not the price.
AWESOME AWESOME VID
Yeah that was biggest turn off was the RAT.
Poikilothermic there’s a word I haven’t heard since college General ecology.
Expensive for just that. I’ll stick with SkinnyMedic. Much more bang for the $$.
I got the my medic mini pro and the bag feels really well made, even though its made in china, it doesn’t feel like cheap Chinese shit
Top muito bom
I call BS on the discount code...not allowed on december 14, 2021
