I have no plans to ever become a flower farmer but I just love the way you deliver information. This is simply good financial knowledge anyway and I do need to remember to prioritize my time and not nickel and dime everything for no return.

Ian and Serena up in Canada just reported 67,000 in revenue on their minus 1 acre flower farm. They do a 1 day weekly spring summer fall farmers market and other random markets, plus an onsite roadside stand… the stand did better than the market which was down 40% from the year before, they said. They just added a bunch of peonies and take their grow space up to one acre, so hopefully that will help them jump to the next level. But, they are making some income from social media (they advertise for square space) and are also adding some kind of workshop or classes too. Sounds like a great life!

You are a very smart cookie moving your expansion focus from the physical growing to teaching how to! I am 66 and new to flower farming although due to my background I have a solid base in both business and growing. It's been challenging but I have been able to restrain myself from going overboard with seed and bulb purchases. This year I'm growing annuals and mostly for myself and if there are extra, I have outlets to sell. I'm a natural born teacher so we will see what I can come up with as far as courses and experiences🎉

Great tips. And I agree. I fall short in many of those areas. 😜I’m a wild mess when it comes to gardening., as I love all the things that grow, want it all 😍 and I am limited on space... so I tend to mix and match, squeeze things in wherever possible... not to mention everything must be done manually/by hand, as I have no tractors or tillers.. how do you choose just one crop? I’m constantly adding to the hoard... I do a LOT of propagation so I come home with hundreds of clippings just going for a quick walk through a park. It’s an addictive habit. 😋

We are starting up an Iris Rhizome Business. After being blessed with an additional 64 more varieties of Iris we now can say we have over 100 varieties. I do understand the investment of time it will take for this to be profitable. Luckily this plant is drought tolerant. Enjoys soil that isnt top notch and does not need to be sold in pots. It is sold as bare root. So as for your information I do agree making sure you know the plant, diseases and bugs that affect the plant, but I would suggest to make certain if you can be zoned for this in your state as well as what your state agriculture department requires so you can legally do so.

I am so happy i found you channel! I am a home owner who is very close to losing it due to losing my job. I do have a large spot of land which i would like to use as a flower farm. I was wondering if you give one on one advice?. I think this would be just the thing to help get me out of this situation. I look forward to possibly hearing back from you!

I have to agree with the comment below. I have no plans to become a flower farmer, but absolutely love your delivery and honesty. The labor end of this start up will be high for sure but like you said, once you get focused and set up an efficient system, I can see your cost will lower and your profit will rise. Excellent information. Thank you for sharing.

Great tips! Just looking into starting a flower farm in Ontario Canada. I wonder how the climate affects the profit. The growing season is short but so is the wedding season. Do you have any recommendations for further education on flower farming?

Taking all the information given into consideration, instead of just saying "Its up to you? as to how profitable the business is, give some examples with numbers of profitable scenarios and some that were losses.

There's no lack of production of flowers in the world... but still 🐝 bees are becoming extinct..why???

    • @courtneydeann5882

I don't know the compete answer but I do know killer bees are a part of the problem. They will attack and destroy honey bee hives.
