Best team assembled I'm talk defense 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ the swagger it was scary every team knew they lost when the canes took the field and the offense 😭 my brother worked with Willis at burger king funny huh but he was a beast on the field
Phillip Buchanon chasing the RB down on the first play isn't surprising. But Sean Taylor(R.I.P.), who was at least 30 pounds heavier gaining ground just showed how fast he was. Just another reason why he was my favorite player.
This is the Miami Hurricanes I know and love. This shit we've had the last decade, I don't know what it is. In this era Miami was able to run the ball with power and had a pro passing attack. On defense they ran their famed 4-3 attacking style. Watching this brings back tears.
kevolicious same man but it will never get this good. This was a one in a lifetime group of players...NFL superstar talent all across the board. Maybe one day we could get back to being relevant but this ? I don’t see it
Tennessee fans are still living off of the afterglow from the Sugar Bowl victory over the Canes at the end of the 85 season. Like, REALLY...they still sit around and talk about it like it happened recently.
Well said. If the Canes had a competent coach like Carroll though, they would have stomped the Suckeye instead of just squeaking that game out like it should have happened.
I hope Miami has great teams again soon. A big reason why the SEC started to dominate is because all the great players in Florida stopped going to Miami.
Miami from the late 70s to mid 2000s were getting the talent. It all went away when the NCAA hammered them down. When the NCAA got them in the 90s, recruits still wanted to go the U. You could be a star and end up in the NFL doing it big. Ask Bowden and Spurrier, they knew Miami was beating them in recruiting and it showed on the field. I think Florida wouldn't have won a national championship between Spurrier team and Tebows teams if they played Miami annually.
Ken Dorsey, even though he cannot run like today's quarterbacks as that is pretty much all they can do when their knowledge of the game and lack of being precise on every throw possible is to this day 9/14/21 the best quarterback in Miami history!
Great video Canesfreak!! Hurricanes trash the vols! That is 2 SEC teams that Miami put away easily in the same season and on the road! Greatest team in CFB history!!!
im a big miami fan,and i think that competition was much harder back then during these time's,i think if this Tennessee team was playing now a days, they would be #1
Those certainly were good days. Too bad Coker didn't have them playing their best football when they went up against OSU. Otherwise, they would have won because this team was supremely talented. I hope Golden realizes that he has to put a product of this quality out in the field by the end of this third and definitely fourth year. Otherwise, he will go the way of Shannon and Coker.
I believe that Tennessee is a sleeping giant! Once they get the right coach they will be on their way. It may not happen in the next several years, but I think that with all of their history that it will happen again. Tennessee was a cream of the top team for many, many years, sent a lot of great talent to the NFL. But, as I always say; GO CANES!!!
The 2002 UMiami team dominated at Tennessee and at Florida..That is impressive, but there was always something missing about the 2002 Hurricanes..They were a step below the 2001 national championship team..UMiami allowed VT to score a lot points on them late in the year..You knew UMiami was due for a disaster in the desert vs. Ohio State in the BCS Championship ⁉🏜🏈🟧
The MIAMI HURRICANES Went up to Ann Arbor and beat Michigan before over 100,000 people, they went to Penn State and blew them out before over 100,000 fans, they went up to Knoxville and blew out Tennessee before iver 100,000 fans. This team went to many road games between 1983 and 2003 and beat many of the top teams in the country in hostile environment. Nick Sabans Alabama teams never did that. During that period, Miami had some great runningbacks. They had Alonzo Highsmith, Melvin Bratton, Warren Williams, Leonard Conley, Danyell Ferguson, Stephen Maguire, Edgerrin James,James Jackson, Clinton Portis, Najeh Davenport,Willis McGahee, Frank Gore. Just imagine how much more dangerous that 2001 team would have been if they would have had Devin Hester on that team. I almost forgot about Jerick Payton. On that 2000 team, Andre Johnson, Jeremy Shockey, Clinton Portis, Jonathan Vilma were all backups.
I always caught flak for it but I could tell Miami was slowly starting to fall apart during the 2002 campaign, the seams came apart finally against Ohio State, a game that on paper shouldn't have been close. Offense sputtered in many games, defense had to carry them in some, Dorsey had a rough year, definitely not the '01 squad even though a big part of the nucleus was there.
As bad off as we have been I'm certain that a Tennessee fan isn't chest thumping about their program with as absolutely fucking retched as they've been the last 5 years.
@Ginga That Wasn't Phillip Buchanon Chasing The RB On The First Play, It Was Kelly Jennings..... Buchanon Left Early For The Draft After They Won The National Championship......
i have this game on VHS in the first half andre johnson runs some idiot over and knocks him out cold!!! why would UT schedule miami for homecoming lol!!! LET US NOT FORGET this canes defense has an entire new secondary...antrelle, sean T. kelly jennings were all new starters along with sykes.

@ATYoung2010 We could be back this year,u know yourself that miami has the talent, its just for some reason they have been so lazy, spoiled, scared to get hit,u know what i mean?like last year against fsu the running back for fsu took off and the miami players were like ahh he's already gone so they stopped running when they saw him running,....back then they would have chased him down as much as they could, like in the begging of this video,u know
Miss you canesfreak
After that embarrassing loss to Middle Tennessee, I had to watch the 2002 Canes. Well oiled machine
This never gets old

Totally agree with you 👍 💯 we need back the REAL U
Tennessee is a beautiful state. Don't knock it. I love it there. go vols. However, miami had one of the best teams ever from 2000-2003. respect.
Tennessee humbled Miami the following year. Kellen Winslow still crying 😢.
Outstanding Miami football team! We got y'all back the very next season tho. Go Vols! CFB is better when UT and UM are ballin!
Tennessee fans are still living off of the afterglow from the Sugar Bowl victory over the Canes at the end of the 85 season. Like, REALLY...they still sit around and talk about it like it happened recently.
We did go into the Orange Bowl and end Miami’s 28-game home win streak 1 year after this game.
The SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE 'Tween The '02 Canes & The '05 Trojans IS THAT, Miami GOT SCREWED & USC GOT BEAT.
Well said. If the Canes had a competent coach like Carroll though, they would have stomped the Suckeye instead of just squeaking that game out like it should have happened.
Coker WAS Competent. ALL The BLAME Goes To PORTER...
SweeTC2847 well said
Imagine how good they would have been if Butch would have stayed
@Inferno You are totally clueless, Miami got robbed against OSU
I was so mad when Tennessee scheduled Miami for a homecoming game. They got slapped the hell out of.
Willis McGahee was a beast.
crazy good vision.
Best RB i ever saw in college speed power vision and he could catch it too
These teams have a weird connection always seem to find each other in big games. Hope your canes have a resurrection like my vols are having
I love how Miami took the field early and still kicked UT's ass.
Should have been far worse. Coker and his mercy. smh
I hope Miami has great teams again soon. A big reason why the SEC started to dominate is because all the great players in Florida stopped going to Miami.

Shitty coaching decisions has lead to shitty performances over the years. Hopefully Richt can turn that around.
Not just shitty coaching decisions, but shitty administration decisions as well. You guys need a new stadium, like yesterday.

Khaki Joe Zaghaki & DBJ cameo, “making a case for 31 wins in a row…” can’t wait for the rise back to dominance. Been too long
Who the hell thought it was a good idea to make one of the most storied programs in College Football history their HOMECOMING OPPONENT??!
YouCanCallMeAl1022 they probably scheduled that game when miami was in their down years

3:18 ... McGahee just killed a man
Tennessee was mad you can feel it in the air everybody use to hate Us
I remember this game, Kellen Winslow got ejected after knocking down 3 Tennessee players, in post game he says, I'm a soldier
That was 2003 The following year
Man this Miami team got speed from both sides of the ball offense and defense.
This game was over when Tennessee didn’t score a td after that long opening run
Facts, dude just breaks a crazy run then they TAKE HIM OUT and proceeds to not do shit with Houston out of the game. Smh Tennessee coaching man
