Fun fact: Kaladesh had cards named Ovalchase Daredevil and Ovalchase Dragster. The next set, Aether Revolt, had a card named Daredevil Dragster, completing the trifecta.
Ovalchase Daredevil is such a cool card. If it was printed in the 90s it would be some sort of undead horror, but no, it’s just a human climbing out of their wrecked car like nothing even happened. “Let me guess. You thought I was dead.” Also, it combos with The Underworld Cookbook (discard it to create a food token, which then immediately brings it back to your hand)
By the quantity of cursed chaotic energy Graham is exuding in this episode (not much at all) I take it to have occurred early in the recording session.
Refurbish just works well in most white or white+ artifact decks. It's not our fault it hasn't gotten a reprint outside of Mystery Boosters, which didn't do Foils. Yes, the foils at the time of this comment are $1.19 US as opposed to the $.09 if the same set or $.23 of Mystery Booster.
Ah Kaldesh,my reintroduction to Magic. I had taken a 10 year departure from the game (after my collection "went missing") and it was also my first Pre-Release. Pulled a Masterpiece Aether Vial in my kit, too.
Lost Legacy was a card I played a fair bit in standard actually since I played a lot of mono black. Not hitting artifacts was awkward… but two sets later disposess came out, which *only* hits artifacts.
Kaladesh was a fun set for sealed, but don't think I ever did an actual draft (mostly pre-release and the sealed with aether revolt when y'all were down for PAX South). Looter Scooter and energy stuff were my jam
Well when you started you videos in UA-cam way way back the little skits each like a month loved the videos it was all about draft and standed they were so fun and funny to watch loved you guys all the way back then
You're in luck, that was a series called 'Friday Nights' that they did loads of, and just this month started a drive for more that's already funded! So there's more on the way too 💙
Almost certainly the æ ligature was dropped to improve search engine optimisation for Aether Revolt.
The typographical change makes it easier for me to want a card named "Aether // Ore".
Also, yay, Grahamcrackers.

I mean, we are clearly still missing Ovalchase Ovalchase
This comment thread has given me a craving for Ovaltine…
@@RyanNerdyGamerBe sure to drink your Ovaltine!
Ovaldevil Chasedrag is one of my favorite kaladesh removal spells
@@Kryptnyt All that _and_ a cantrip effect?
Next time we do a kaladesh draft......., as it's on arena today. Proof that he can tell the future
Just watched Kenji draft Kaladesh today. That shrug was kind funny. Relevant info is relevant!

I came here to post this. Love this card in my Azmo... in my Spooky Chef commander deck.
Graham, I insist that Thriving Ibex is the best in the cycle.
Why?
It's the GOAT.
My favourite device has got to be the wheel.
"Thanks for inventing me, it's great to be here!" - The Wheel, probably
Favorite device is the Plot Device. Very important for the story.
An extra cool part of 20 years of content and a cool editor is getting to make callbacks to your own stuff!
3:14 Casting a Thriving Ibex with a white-set Thriving Bluff is a win on contextual flavour grounds.
I mean your opponent is just supposed to scoop it up when that happens right? That feels like how it should work.
@@wormspeaker In flavour games? For sure.

This set has big energy energy
Lol, the Salivating Gremilata was in the next episode of "Friday Nights" I just went to watch after this! (Inventor's Unfair)
It's worth watching the Christmas Carol episode after that too. More themed snack shenanigans 😂
My favorite device is the Theremin.
At 1:01 when he was talking about Garak I could first thought of the planeswalker but then I thought of the tailor

4:09 Very nice callback to "Friday Nights: Inventors’ Unfair" 😂
Right? I immediately heard Cameron"s delivery of I KNOW WHAT A GREMOLATA IS 😂
@@tomireland3644 And cue Kathleen’s recital of (almost) every ServoFact. 🤣
I am subscribing to servo facts and I'm sure I won't regret that...
Kaladesh is where I rejoined Magic after playing a little bit back in high school, absolutely loved the artifact theme
Marionette Master was my favourite card in this set. I built an artifact Deck around it for my kitchentable group back then.
I chuckled at the crapshot callback :D
Ah Kaldesh,my reintroduction to Magic.

7:58 My favourite device is one that (at the time of this comment) can’t run Magic: The Gathering in any form… it’s Nintendo Switch. 🙂
Ovalchase Daredevil was in my Prerelease deck. That was the first tournament I won! I love that card and all the black hard to kill creatures like it.
I mean, Garruk is also a human.
Not to be confused with Garak, who’s a Cardassian
Mmmm, Kaladesh Inventions come to mind. Still have an invention Sol Ring quad sleeved and in a shoebox.
“Salivating Gremolata”
there’s a reference
*I know what a gremolata is!*
Between my Prerelease kit and my prize packs I opened 3 copies of Dubious Challenge, LRR's preview card. So I blame you for that :P
Kaladesh was such a fun block, I miss it all the time. I remember always forcing WB fabricate against my friends and I always won.
I actually won a draft by lifting Terrors of the Fairgrounds with Eddytrail Hawks. Fun times!
Lost Legacy was a card I played a fair bit in standard actually since I played a lot of mono black. Not hitting artifacts was awkward… but two sets later disposess came out, which *only* hits artifacts.
Delightful as always!
More important about Aether Tradewinds is that it's a reference to Tradewind Rider.
Kaladesh was a fun set for sealed, but don't think I ever did an actual draft (mostly pre-release and the sealed with aether revolt when y'all were down for PAX South). Looter Scooter and energy stuff were my jam
Kaladesh block draft is up on arena as of today
Kaladesh was my first ever prerelease and Lost Legacy was my promo.
I need to know where Graham got that Tachikoma shirt from
Such a beautiful set.
You opened a modern playable card, go you!
Graham, presciently helping out with Kaladesh draft, given what's on Arena as of this comment.

ahh I remember the refurbishment decks back in standard, with the god pharaoh tomb thingymajig
I am, in fact, a territorial gorger. Don't interrupt me at a buffet line if you value your life.
Next time you're doing a Kaladesh draft...
(Kaladesh draft goes live on Arena the next day).
Woop woop, lets go
ah kaladesh, back when we didnt have to wonder which booster pack variety to buy
How are you worrying?
Weird that you’re doing this the day Kaladesh draft is available on arena
Crack! A! Pack!
