    You can charge 130 amps (@12V) from your primary alternator, although it would produce that much more heat and noise inside as well - if you hookup more than one alternator cable. Which is why I have opted for a 48V alternator which bypasses the PowerHub altogether. Also FYI - the latest firmware update will allow you to mix 2kW and 5kW batteries on the system.

    18:56 just remember to wire your panels correctly. The inputs take 60v and 30a. I have 200w bifacial panels that max out at 31v and 6a. So really I can do 4 in parallel on each input.

    Hi guys. Thanks for the clarifying video. I got an Ecoflow powerkit at the beginning of the year. One reason for my purchase decision was your videos. Thank you for that! So far we haven't had any failures or problems. I only noticed one thing and I would be interested to know if this is still normal behavior! I noticed that the power hub's own consumption is very high. I have a loss of around 5-8% sometimes more battery capacity (2kwh battery) overnight even though the AC & DC outputs are switched off. As you described, some users have a similar problem. Is this still normal consumption? or do I already have a problem here?

      i use a power kit with 5kwh battery now for a year here in germany. i have the same situation that the system itself consumes a lot of power. The support recommended last year: "However, we suggest you to perform a SoC calibration to try to improve the issue, the steps are as follows:
      1) Please long press the on/off main power button for over 10 seconds to reset it. And then turn it on.
      2) Set the discharge/charge level to 0%-100% on the APP.
      3) Plug out all output from the power station and charge it till it reaches 100% or 0 input and stops charging.
      4) Plug out all input from the power station and discharge it till it reaches 0% and automatically shuts off.
      5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 three times. After the SOC calibration, check to see if the issue continues"
      For me it brought a small help, but it is pretty much unchanged. Maybe it helps you?! @vanland: Your experiences?

    Hi there
    When you were talking about the batteries charging at cold temperatures.
    I have a power hub in our garage that sends power around the garage and the house, but I don’t have one of the consoles.
    You said the battery heating elements need to be controlled as not automatic had I scout about in the phone app but can’t find that feature.
    I thought the BMS activated the battery heating system, but now wonder about that and don’t want too damage the expensive batteries.
    Live in the UK so not super super cold but does get too around -5 c a few bit in winter time.
    Thanks Sam

    I have a 10kw system. The only problem I have had so far is my batteries not charging all the way. I just did a firmware update today, so I hope that fixes it. Also, the fact you need an adapter for the smart generator is annoying, especially since I am waiting for it.

    Hi, thanks for the great video. I have this power kit in a new RV that I bought and the solar connection will not lock into the PV connection on the power hub--hence, no solar charging on one panel. I noticed you mentioned there were some reverse polarity problems with some of the units. Do you think this may be the case here or something else? Thanks in advance.

    Great video and for times savings I am leaning towards getting one of these kits. I do have a couple questions: 1. How long on average would 10kw allow you to run the AC?
    2. Can it be used with any 48v AC?
    TIA!

    • @edgeofnothing67
      @edgeofnothing67 6 місяців тому

      48v ac is one of the perks for it.
      How long it runs will always depend on your ac units usage and more importantly insulation setup and how well you can lock in the cold air and keep out the hot.
      Ac units never run 100% of the time, if it is you are doing it wrong. Usually 20% up time per hour. I have a 48v system with the 5kw battery and I'm in Texas. I've had it setup for only a week but it will keep my van 74 all night when set in low mode using 800w and has battery left in the morning.

    Can a 48v AC unit be hooked up to the distribution panel rather and not the hub? Thinking of how to remotely turn on/off the air conditioner using a hotspot.

  • @pj-3325
    @pj-3325 5 місяців тому +1

    We have had one for a year now too and we love it!
    However, we regret the AC unit. It cannot deal with hotter temps, the outlet hose gets so hot that I think its also contributing to heating up the van. Also the cold air blows up, hot air gets sucked in below. Kimda think that the unit just keeps cycling its own air within a small area in front of intake and outlet.
    Also - at window dispensing area w intake and outlet side by side - think it may be cycling same air. Would rather put money towards a cruise n comfort or roof AC.

    I've had mine for almost 2 years (I bought a 10 kWh kit the day it came out when they had large discounts and got it August 2022). I now have a 48 volt A/C hooked up to the 3rd battery port and that works great!
    2 Questions:
    -You mentioned about not going below 5% charge; what is the best practice for BMS balancing? I've heard go down to 0% and then up to 100% at least 3 times to get the BMS programming correct and then to repeat that at least once a month. What do you suggest?
    -What about 2nd alternator charging? The app mentions that the 2 solar inputs can now also be alternator inputs but gives no details on how that might be. Do you have any details on that please?

    • @edgeofnothing67
      @edgeofnothing67 6 місяців тому

    I'm curious about adding extra batteries at a later date. Say you get a 10k kit and 3-4 years later you find it's not quite enough... is it ok to add a 3rd battery or would there be a conflict adding a new batter to the existing setup?

    • @edgeofnothing67
      @edgeofnothing67 6 місяців тому

      It takes 10 seconds to connect a new one. It can take 10 seconds to install as well if you stack them. They lock right into each other that way. If you need to attach it somewhere else they give brackets to tie it down which would take you like 30 minutes maybe...

      @@edgeofnothing67 the issue I'm wondering about isn't adding an extra, it's adding a fresh battery to a well used batteries.
      In the past with other systems I've seen recommendations against adding new batteries to banks with older batteries because of draw conflicts between the old and new batteries... sort of like the conflicts he mentioned about running a 5k battery and a 2k battery together on 1 hub.

    Gosh 1kw input from alternator is nothing, my volta system takes in 6kw all the time and takes 2+ hours to charge. Cant imagine waiting 12 hours to charge, sometimes we are using our high idle get (from iopedal) and neighbors come over and ask 'when are you going to turn off the vehicle?' ;-) a 15kwh hub would take 15 hours to charge at 1kw, that design just makes no sense...

    I disagree with your comment on cheap lithium batteries( actually you should say less costly lithium batteries versus cheap as they are mostly all the same grade lifePO4 cells and most have identical or just as good quality of a lithium battery twice the price or more)! I have 4 Li time with all victron hardware and have never had any issues and can easily replace a component or battery if needed and know how to fix and or replace and trouble shoot as I know how it all works and where things are routed versus a closed unit having an issue and dead in water hoping for warranty to cover versus being able to replace an item and continue on! Plus I could build a much higher capacity system ( which I have versus a stand alone unit ) for almost half the cost ! I do have Bluetti products and they are great just like eco flow but the cost versus less complex or easier application isn’t for everyone! I understand you sell and install this product and stand behind but doesn’t mean the less costly lithium batteries are less quality ( and there are many UA-camrs that tear those batteries down and give honest reviews ( mostly good ones at that!
