"Gary Lauwers, seventeen years young, you have no idea what you've done" What a legitimately unsettling line.
Ikr, I have an older friend whos brother went to school with Kasso and Garry. A lot of kids stopped going to school right after that happened, even some who got to see the body.

Apparently, Aes went to the same High School as Ricky Kasso. (After him of course) makes this song a lot more haunting

This may very well be the best song Aesop Rock has ever written. Like, the speed and precision, the hectic beat it's matched with. It's unreal, and it gives you a feeling that really represents the subject matter. I understand it's hard to truly make that assertion.... but god if this isn't one of the most impressive things I have heard Aes rap on.
Yup, can't imagine anyone else riding this beat like him.
What's more impressive is this story is based on actual events that unfold the way he explained it...
@Sugmi Richards
Are you being sarcastic? If you're not, you should definitely check it out. Yes it is, and it makes the song even more awesome and impressive. He told this story incredibly.
There's a video on UA-cam by Twisted Minds called (I believe) "The Case of the Acid King Murderer" that's good. It's only 14 minutes and it goes through a lot of what's in this song.
the last line "..Or maybe I'm wrong and he's finally home - Kasso." coupled with Tobacco's synth lines never fails to give me chills.
I love you and this song Aesop, but I am never going to watch that video again.

Once when me and a buddy were on acid we somehow switched to a Guy Fieri marathon and couldn’t figure out how to change it. @@dantecarangelo1083 Earl Sweatshirt dropped some new music and a studio version of a song he did live
I've known so many people in my time who think Aesop just raps nonsense to rhyme but this song's lyrics singlehandedly prove that notion wrong. He retells the story of Kasso vividly, bending his words masterfully to include tons of details. True poetry.
Okay, so the moral is not to talk to crows when you're on acid especially when they tell you they are Satan. I think the world needs this message rn.
Untitled Name Gang this rap is a true story about Ricky Kasso
Untitled Name Gang you should look into the story, the kids did LSD yes, but I’m almost positive what made the whole thing go south is the PCP
I took away "don't steal drugs in a small town."
Hold close to the good you are drawn to!! The man is a genius!
But that's exactly when you should talk to the crows... the rest of the time they're all "caw! caw! look at this lunatic!"
Tbh I think this is up there with the greatest Aesop Rock songs of all time, which clearly says something. I'm very impressed by his surgical rhythmic precision, lyrics as a whole, and I think this is the best musical composition he's rapped to. The beginning beat throws you off by starting with a pickup note, which makes the higher pitched note sound like the quarter note pulse, but in fact the second, lower pitched note is the downbeat. Then he starts rapping on the quarter note before the fourth note in the measure saying "The Ma-gic is" and says "black" on the downbeat of the next measure. Those are just the first two examples of his rhythmic excellence. Aesop is not fair to compete against when it comes to lyrical and rhythmic creativity and precision.
Call me a normie but I still love None Shall Pass
@@universal_hyssoap yeah just he plays it at every show almost overplayed at this point

I love Aes songs where the beat lets the lyrics shine. The simplicity of the beat lets you really zone into the lyrics which are always the main event on an Aes song. This is fantastic
Justin King agreed!! I’ve always said one of the things that makes him different is that his lyrics make the beat better where as other artists make their lyrics with a beat.

Richard Allan "Ricky" Kasso Jr. (March 29, 1967 - July 7, 1984) murdered his 17-year-old friend Gary Lauwers in Northport, New York, on June 19, 1984. Two other teens, Jimmy Troiano and Albert Quinones, were present at the murder, which took place in the Aztakea Woods of Northport while all four were high on what they believed to be mescaline, but was most likely LSD.
The murder became sensational news in New York City and across the nation due to the alleged torture of Lauwers and supposed occult aspects of the murder. The murder took place during a period when there was much public concern over the effects of Satanic and occult content in heavy metal music and in role-playing games. Kasso was wearing an AC/DC T-shirt at the time of his arrest and was a fan of groups such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne.

Bad dealer. Ive heard of people selling LSA as LSD.
More to the point. Imagine being tortured and murdered while tripping. Holy shit. Tripping in the wrong direction is bad enough. Torture and death?
Hmm sounds pretty suss to me...
Still not sure how you'd confuse the two, mescaline is active in the milligram levels, like say 200-500mg, whereas lsd is microgram doses, so visibly they're completely different.
Dude ... all drugs are the same to people that don’t use drugs or have familiarity with them. Mescaline & pcp got confused in a friend’s police report & it was printed in the news etc

Kasso waives all debts, says "Let's just go and get baked instead"
Two shake hands and the beef play dead
Though it's more like a skeeter shaking a web
And along came a spider with two of his friends
It was into the woods, a delusional mess
Four kids dipped in a black hole bath
June 16, Kasso snaps
Off-guard Gary tackled and pinned
Sees Rick pull a knife from his jacket and grin
Raise that knife like a sword to the moon
Plunge that knife through a portrait of youth, going
"Say you love Satan, say you love Satan"
Lauwers ain't say it, just cave to the face lift
Thirty-two stab wounds, gouged out eyes
Burns on his skin, not a cloud in the sky
Kasso had later explained he was told by Satan himself in the form of a crow
To murder the kid cold, a part of a pristine whole
No, no, no, no, no
And just had to brag, until somebody sad just had to rat
Sat in the cell is a merchant of hate,
Who would hang from his sheet before the third day
