    Add a pressure valve and use a pressure pump and you can get a lot more heat out of that!

    I do the same as this for heat in the winter right now and last two years. Then I use it with just cold water also for cooling in the summer. Glad to see this, good work.

      Same,but on a much larger scale for my home and my shop. Thanks for watching!

    Been interested in doing the same with hot water or air heating. Was debating using the 55 gal drum for air or water. Water might have freezing (use antifreeze) or leak issues, and air would be harder to keep up to temp as it goes into the house a few feet away. Found this informative. I really want the fire box and oil supply outside for safety and fumes.

    Just same as a military multifuel water heater.

    How do you think it would work if you use a water radiatorer?

    • @karlsoffroad
      @karlsoffroad  7 місяців тому +1

      I run it through a heat exchanger, which is a radiator. I'm not sure what you're asking?

    What water pump are you using?

    What hydronic fan are you using?

      @greggoryleblanc1024 just a cheap one from Ebay for this test. The water to air heat exchangers I use to heat my home and shop are Dragon's Breathe heat exchangers.

      Thanks for quick response. Any idea the btu output. I’m getting ready for winter and your setup makes the most sense to me!

      @greggoryleblanc1024 I have 2-120k btu heat exchangers, one in each building. I'm not sure what the rating is for the one I used in this test. 80-100k I would imagine, very similar in size.

      Do you think I’d need to get 50 gallons boiling or would less water be ok. I’m only trying to heat a 30x30 insulated space

      @greggoryleblanc1024 The water doesn't need to boil. The heat exchanger ratings are based on a water temp of 180 degrees Fahrenheit, so if the water is going to be cooler than that, get an oversized water to air heat exchanger.

    The return line was at 150-160 but what was the supply line temp?

      I couldn't get an accurate read on the water coming in. I would guess 10-20 degrees above that. It was definitely pulling heat off the water. It may have been only slightly hotter than the return because it was such a short loop. I only let it run for an hour and a half.
