I was doing my diploma thesis on 3d scanners and geodetic post-completion stocktaking of a parking. It was about comparison of total station and 3D scanner. We worked with Leica C10 ScanStation and Leica TS06. I was looking for literature about LiDAR, then I saw your channel, I was impressed by iPhone LiDAR, now i want iPhone Pro :D Also you have gained new subscriber :)

Struggling to validate this review as you’re now sponsored by Leica. We currently use a BLk360, Trimble X7 and RTC360, the BLK is the unknown for me at the moment with accuracy and delivery expectations. This will require my own testing with the team

Of course, I encourage you to do your own testing, but my sponsorship with Leica does not influence my integrity or honesty. Naturally, I wouldn't promote a product I don't believe in. 😉

Nice comparison video. The best thing with the BLK360 is just how many measurements that it can take in such a short time. My company has just ordered the BLK360GO which will be a massive help to our surveys.

Spray paint?? Really?? I would certainly be calling you to see if you have any ideas to remove that. It appears it's within public R/W, but isn't it still ugly. And all for what? Try some keel instead.
I tell you, someone painted a BM on a steel utility pole over 30 years ago and still there plain as day.
I actually used it about 25 yrs ago and it was easy to find, but come on. How many aerial panels have you seen painted on a sidewalk or a public courtyard, all for that so important survey point. Now 30 years later.. still there.
Ok, rant over... Apparently I get a little triggered about unnecessary tagging 😅
    Thanks for the video though.

Interesting seeing someone else do this. I soon gave up using the small bundled tripod for external work and got a tribrach adapter and extension pole to use on an old aluminium surveying tripod. The sanner can now be 2m high so is more perpendicular to facades and sees over cars etc.
Also I don't bother with targets on tripods. It's all done with laminated A4 targets stuck to windows/surfaces or pinned to fences/posts and measured reflectorlessly (zero target height). At least 5 targets, usually more for redundancy (stuff goes wrong, gets missed etc.). On a building like this I'd probably do a few high level reflectorless shots too.
Also I'd probably have had a couple more scans to do this job for more overlap at the corners, and in the office I'd remove cloud-to-cloud points that are foliage or too distant from the job to achieve better registration.
    Nice video.

We've gone to mostly reflectorless also when we're doing a scan but a lot of times our control guy is running ahead of us with an rtk till Rover so we will use some of those points and sometimes we just set up close to the ground points and we can see right down on them in the scan

@@stevelong1255 Must be nice having separate teams for control and scanning. I'm on my own and am continually running backwards and forwards every 5-10 mins to set up a scan then do some theodolite work. Good idea to scan station markers/nails. Do you use Cyclone Register 360?

Hey Rami, please do a basic survey for an interior with Total Station (like for old buildings etc) 🤲

    Rami,
I have been a layout technician for the last 3 years for a Mechanical/Plumbing Construction company. Though I absolutely love everything about what I do, I want to learn and do more. I feel like I’m stuck in the mud doing the same thing every day. I use Trimble total station/software and I usually just layout pipe, hangers, sleeves/core holes, drains, etc., and I occasionally get to collect data to send back to the office.
What steps do you recommend I take to become more well rounded with all the facets of surveying? I haven’t been to college. I just have a high school diploma. I am 25 years old and live near Charlotte, NC. Any tips?
I love your videos, they are so informative and I cannot stop watching once I start. Thanks for all your hard work to teach us.

Wow thanks for the definitive video on combining survey control BLK data and field 360 since the app has been out for over a year surprising it took on this long to produce something but greatly done a lot of times we'll just set up our instrument one place and as long as you have a good triangle we sometimes shoot are black and white targets on poles or mag targets with reflectorless
directly we get even tighter matches with the cloud with that method

Wow! Back in the day, I'd measure the building my hand, count the bricks, etc. and ultimately generate a pretty decent set of as-builts in CAD. It took me forever. I thought I had it made when I bought a Hilti PD32 distometer... Look at the technology today!

Cool! Where did you use the targets later on, besides placing them accurately? Did the field app use them? Can you do this without targets and totalstation or measuring poles? Still accurate then?
Do you have any video on combining blk or rtc360 poincloids with drone photos? Many thanks

@spiderx01 gotcha. So the more you measure a length, the more confidence you can have in the numbers. It would be good to measure w multiple instruments like in this example because if there is a human or instrument error, this will find those errors. Just off the bat, he could d and r the traverse with the total station, and he could close the traverse to see the misclose error.

How did pts 3 & 4 compare between the scans and total station? Just doing points 1 & 2, is just analyzing the accuracy of 1 scan.

It seems to be the same effort just to do one more scan with BLK. Why would you be using an iPhone?

    • @seblueprint645
      @seblueprint645 Рік тому

I think it was just to illustrate that it can be done in the app. I have been in plenty of places where I just couldn't get the scanner to fit, or get a surface suitable for setting up the tripod. I had no idea you could integrate with an iPhone lidar scan in the app. Very cool.
