1990 WC Dance OSP Klimova & Ponomarenko

1990 WC Ice Dance OSP Klimova & Ponomarenko. I saw Usova and Zhulin's posted earlier so I thought i'd add K&Ps also. I'll put up the Duchesnays at some point also - what a great WC that was:). Still lovin the OSPs - the 2nd rotations are often more enjoyable than the first lol

Looking back at all their programs all these years later, it's just amazing that they were ever second to B/B or the the Duchenays. Their skating quality is infinitely superior to both those teams. They were so well matched. For my money, they are the best pure ice dancers ever. Torvill and Dean were great artists, but Klimova and Ponomarenko had the best technique by far.

Along with their Charleston from 1989 this must surely go down as one of the best OSPs ever. So spirited and life-affirming.

You should check out their Viennese Waltz in 1987 as it was even better. Their polka OSP in 1986 was also amazing.

So amazing. It's incredible how they can really make their skating skills sing in this dance in spite of the hideous costumes and awful choice of music.
