@@MTGJoe Could you help me understand the differences between the 16 Land Red, Mono Red, and Boros Aura? Boros I can tell is White/Red. But I am having difficulty telling which one is best and the differences between them. Similar between the two Golgari decks. It is a bit hard to follow as a new player what the playstyles of these decks. I appreciate the help in advance!
@BrotherHisham88 16 land is more all in with pump spells. It can be more explosive but much more susceptible to removal. Half your deck being pump spells can mean dead draws and you usually ignore your opponent without any burn/removal. The other mono red is more traditional creature aggro with burn backup. Boros is broken down between an auras version where you create a big creature with protection backup where the other version is more prowess/burn. All the red based decks are viable, it’s just a matter of understanding the play style, practicing and then seeing which style you like best. If you are short on wildcards start with mono red then build towards Boros. Golgari midrange is much better than the Planeswalker version which is closer to a meme deck. Golgari demons is just strong creatures and strong removal
I have been playing orzhov reanimator now that we have Zombify we have essentially 12 reanimate spells on turn 4 if you count Beseech the mirror to play Zombify or Rite of the moth from the deck. Combine that with surveil lands, Splitskin Doll, Scrapwork Mutt and the black overlord to dump cards in the graveyard playing a turn 4 Atraxa, Valgavoth or Etali has never been easier.
@@Ernwed I wouldn't say it's S tier since boros and red burn decks can fire damage at players and by turn 4 you might be dead regardless of what you reanimate.
I thing the best way to play the lifegain deck is to drop the combo all together it's more cute than good. Your other cards play better with you trying to support it.
I tend to agree with that. Aggro has always struggled with moving goal posts with extreme lifegain. In this meta, combo decks have to be removal + combo to be effective.
I think I’m going to craft more kiora for my oculus deck and run that in the qualifier . Founding the third path is blues up the beanstalk card is crazy .
i think were missing rakdos demons as n entire community....tauren mauler is a 3 mana changeling 2/2 that whenever an opponent casts a spell put a +1/+1 counter on it.... now changeling makes that guy a demon and when they try to cut down the mauler it becomes a 3/3 so it cant be cut down and the sheer amount of ppl that dont get why they cant cut down this bad boy is hilarious. and im playing thraxademin its a 2 mana 2/2 demon which can sac an artifact or creature to draw a card...which doesn't matter as much as 2 mana demon.... turning on annex immediately the turn you cast it is huge.
I've been playing annex with different cards and combos since it was released because Bloodletter is my favorite standard card. Pre foundations I had settled on Dimir demons with silent Hall Creeper and mockingbird to copy demons and the demon token as the best demon deck. But after foundations I was kinda leaning towards mono black or orzhov. But this idea might put rakdos demons into contention. That's pretty brilliant! Also I have been digging the sanctuary man land and desecration demon too! Thanks for the Info
@darken8649 hey look for infernal whatever... 2b human 2/1 when it dies you out it back into play as a demon with 2 +1/+1 counters on it aka 4/3 demon so theyre forced to not attack into it or not remove it immediately.... also great for thraxodemon a 2 mana demon that for 3 and tap it sac a creature or artifact draw a card....simply being a 2 mana demon is great to line up with annex
@zigzag2370 oh yeah forgot to say I've been running 4 of that card. It's no turn two demon or even turn three but it's still good. Dimir demons made me to mythic #43 last season, but I wasn't running the jace combo, mine was more like the Pham deck. But this season with spectral sailor and the new kaito from foundations dimir flash/card draw is just as good or better than my Dimir demons list so Ive been really grinding mono black and orzhov demons lately. But I sure do miss casting multiple Bloodletters with silent Hall Creeper and mockingbird, those synergies are amazing. But I'm trying your rakdos idea tonight. Cheers
Agree with the input for the mono black demons, but what do specifically you think? 2 Fountain ports of 2 Myrex or even Mishra's foundry, and how many?
Yes and no With doubling season, only the initial loyalty when a planeswalker enters the battlefield is doubled. The loyalty added to activate the abilities is added as part of paying a cost, not as part of an effect. So doubling season doesn't care about it.
The white decks can be reasonable, you usually are favored vs aggro. It’s configurable as well based on removal and top end. It’s a slow deck though to often close out games
Hi Joe, are there any ways to get cards like Godsend, Brimaz, taeko, etc without crafting them. They don't seem to be in packs I open. They don't seem to be in jump in etc
So those aren’t standard legal, those would be in Jumpstart packs. I’d have to double check if there is a client event you could enter but look for jumpSTART not jump in. Be mindful though those are legal only in historic, brawl and timeless with the exception of those already legal in explorer (brimaz is)
hello when I download and try to craft the deck it says "attention card banned in standard" but I do not understand which one. What I am doing wrong? Thank you very informative video btw
Is it a mono red deck? It’s been causing issues for a number of people regardless where it gets imported from. Try excluding the monstrous rage then adding them in manually
For me there was no more consistent deck than Mono Red Aggro. All others deck I used like Dimir Kaito, Dimir Toxic, Rabbits, Boros Auras and Rakdos Aggro only make me had 50% winrate, the matches were just like a flip of a coin: do my opponent has a heavy removal deck or not. With Mono Red I went from gold to mythic in less than a week.
I learned it the hard way cuz that combo was the first thing came to mind when I saw doubling in foundations. Was so confused when it didn’t work hahah Jace mill for 30 is super broken tho!
I’m new and just discovering these videos. This is my favorite resource I’ve found so far. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you are finding value in them. My intent is to put out helpful resources

Top quality content, I'm coming back to standard after 2 years away, loved this!

The vampire lifegain deck has to navigate aggro red decks and monoblack discard decks. Real damn difficult.
What is that sound? What is that noise? Is it possible? Yes, it is the best video of the week🎉❤

Check either my aetherhub or the video I posted for metagame challenge, there is a kiora oculus Bo3 list there you can reference

I would go 2 fountainport. I think the flexibility of the card is better than mirrex
I've seen Mono-Black Demosn lists with Lili of the Veil instead of Dreadhorde General, is big Lili better right now?
In best of one I’d rather play Veil. 6 mana is a lot with so much aggro going around. Veil’s minus 2 edict also good around auras protection effect
@MTGJoe thanks!
If I'm not mistaken I don't think doubling season doubles loyalty on ETB sadly.

Thinking of making the mono white token deck you showed in your last video do you think it could do well in current meta?
The white decks can be reasonable, you usually are favored vs aggro. It’s configurable as well based on removal and top end. It’s a slow deck though to often close out games

I think if you sre going the lifegain drain combo should be much more controlling not so much bats
My concern with that is people will just had normally dead removal waiting for the combo pieces. Bats at least bait out removal
@MTGJoe True problem with creature combos at the moment is so much removal has to be played or get run over
What is your opinion on angels in standard right now?
Without something like bishop of wings I think it’s too slow. You can’t just out-lifegain aggro and then you are soft to the sweeper decks
@MTGJoe man great insight. Thank you!
Why do people play the Dross demon when they dont have the option to sacc him? Do they poker on it winning the game before loosing all counters?
It can close games out very quickly along with being a demon to pair with annex
Vraska one shot doesn’t work with doubling season. Season super friends still super strong, but don’t play it with Vraska
Ahh good call. Opponent gets the counters. Still lots of walkers to ult though
I learned it the hard way cuz that combo was the first thing came to mind when I saw doubling in foundations. Was so confused when it didn’t work hahah Jace mill for 30 is super broken tho!
