What happens if I change my sprocket? (13t sprocket 2022 Honda Monkey)

- This video is my initial reaction after changing my 2022 Honda Monkeys front sprocket to a 13tooth.
My ABS light went off after i hit top ~top speed, also my speed was off by 7.1% making it appear on the speedometer that i was going over 60 mph sitting up.
I ended up ordering 12oclock labs part no. H11-ABS speedo-drd

It is a super-easy install.
just did the 13t front sprocket no abs light coming on the 13t makes alot of difference

Gives you better low end torque but no top end and it’s probably affecting the module, 14 tooth is the sweet spot, for mine anyway and I’m 300 lbs.
yeah my 5th gear used to feel worthless, but now i can almost wind it all the way out in 5th. I think it also depends which year of Monkey.
I also think themed tooth sprocket is much better but the abs light will not stop blinking. I installed the speedohealer and now the speedometer is accurate but still blinking.
If done correctly there is no blinking. It initially took me three times to get it done correctly, including wiping the memory on the speedohealer. My problem was being impatient between the numeric inputs. Wait for each number in your three number sequence to flash.
I changed mine on my 2023 and no blinking ABS light. Not sure why because I bought the 12oclock harness preparing to install but so far no problems. 🤔
i think if you get near top speed it will start blinking, also your speedo will be off ~5mph if I remember correctly. Thx for commenting :)
I’ve been pegging the throttle and hit 66 with GPS. Believe me I’m looking out for the ABS. Thanks for the video.
Do you get a bit more top speed with the 13t? When I am in 5th gear i have the impression that it doesnt have power enough to get more revs, so maybe with the smaller front sprocket it’s able to better get the revs up and get some more speed?
Yes it is a huge improvement, you will need to get the speedo fix, the video link in the comments. Total cost is ~100$ with the sprocket and speedodrd. But If you are over 200# it is a MUST!! Thanks for the comment!!

Yes, it increases top speed. If you can't increase speed in 5th gear, change your sprocket one tooth smaller in the front. ❤Thank you for watching Mate!
Did you have to shorten the chain ?
He only adjusted it on the other video
The chain only needs adjustment, i use sprocketcalculator.com to do the calculations and changing to 13t makes no difference in a 102 link chain.
That's what you get for messing with it to get 5 more mph .. stupid people.... leave it alone what's the hurry to get places???

Why would the ABS light come on?
The ABS works off of Speedometer and crankshaft sensors, so changing the front sprocket messes up the MPH on the speedo which in turn confuses the ABS.

@@ramoneortiz I ended up buying a 12oclocklabs speedodrd h11-abs to fix the speedo and ABS problem. There is a video linked in the description of this video to the install for the speedometer fix. I highly recommend the 13t sprocket.
