Super detailed instructions on tennis one handed backhand stroke. Slow instructions is greatly making this really easy to understand.. thank you so much coach !
Hi, just discovered your channel a month ago or so but it has become my favorite tennis technique channel. Thank you for putting out such good content. This video has been very enlightening as I also have a OH BH. Never really found any consistency in my BH and this was always my week spot and the reason I was losing against much less skilled players. Anyway, after giving it some serious attention I much came to the same conclusion as you in this video. I wish I had seen it 20y ago. For example the shoulder rotation at the back swing at pro level is something I have not seen anybody else describe on court or on YT. And I have had many coaches and seen hundreds of YT videos on the topic. I was looking at Federer and Wawrinka and they both had their rackets facing upwards at the beginning of their stroke. So I knew it was not wrong but nobody else had picked up on it. Thanks for that. Also, to keep the wrist tucked back is a great tip. Spot on. Best OHBH on YT or on court for that matter for the lucky ones playing with you live. Keep it up and if you ever wanna go skiing, just holler ;)
Maybe I missed it, but I think you didn't say anything about swinging out to the ball, like you did in a previous video. Do you still consider this as an important part to generate momentum? And thanks for providing this coherent concept of playing a modern one handed backhand. Much appreciated!
Doesn't opening the racquet face on the take back make it hard to time the rotation of the arm so the racquet face is vertical at contact as opposed to keeping the racquet head vertical throughout the take back like Stan Wawrinka?
Your backswing is not continuous. It stops on the way back. Had you timed your backswing from being "jerky" to a bit more "liquid" you would have quite a bit more power. Your problem is - you are victim of your junior training to bring the raquet back ASAP. By the way , you have perfect shorty: "The reason you struggle with slow balls" , where you explain perfectly the problem of backswing-too-quick. Time to apply it to your normal pace ball.
Interesting comment, there is always room for improvement. Vincent is a good player, his universal tennis rating has ranged from 9-11. Another UA-cam coach, Karue Sell, has a UTR around 14. Karue is probably the strongest player among the UA-cam coaches. The top 100 players on the ATP have a UTR around 15 to 16.
This is by far the best 1hbh class there is in Yourube. You're knowledge of theory shows and you speaking slowly really makes a difference. Thank you.

The best one handed backhand video ever!!

Ridiculously good instruction, the pace, the detail, the tone - brilliant. Going out to buy your latest book, right now. Brilliant stuff, Simone.

Perfect!
What racquet do you use? And if you could, what is your top 3 racquet recommendations for the one hand backhand? Thanks.

I like the mechanic of THE great Arthur Ashe DRIVE backhand , very simple and easy ! actually , I ma copying his mechanics
Looks like Guga's backhand grip is on the extreme side while Wawrinka's grip is more traditional. Both have legendary one-handed backhand.
wow can you make that a longer video this is so short
like sub, saved to rewatch later !!!
you are the friendly neighborhood Spiderman tennis coach
Talk, talk and talk.
Where's the tennis doctor match playing?
Coming soon....
you should turn shoulder first not your arm makes for a smoother shot
