Nice video. Possibly looking at a 25 Gamefish this summer, so the video really helps, so thank you, and we used to live on Severn so Cantlers was a go to!
The Furuno RD30 is a backup depth finder. It was installed when the boat was new and is still operational. Not sure what chip you purchased, but the Vision card is top notch. The main enhancements are not focused around the depth contours or nav aids, but rather the auto guidance and additional chart viewing options that are not accessible without the chip
Software updates are available online for free. Use a certified installer for the best experience. GARMIN offers an on-board warranty if using a certified installer. All Marin nav screens have been daylight viewable since the early 2000's. The new change to the 7600 series is this screen wont "blackout" when wearing polarized sunglasses. I don't know if any other manufacturers offering this feature on their displays. If you want lowrance, then go for it. Just don't be surprised when you have a problem in a few years and they tell you they no longer service your unit and you'll need to buy a new one. This is unfortunately a common story with them.
When shooting into a flat, reflective surface like a video display, take the light off the camera or turn the camera-mounted light off, and use off-camera lights. That will prevent hot spots and decreased dynamic range caused by glare from light reflecting right back at the camera.
SeikiBrian thanks for your feedback. I'm no videographer. This was shot at 11pm on a boat Ina pitch black marina after working to install a transducer for my customer the evening before his fishing tournament. I posted this for his info purposes, not realizing anyone other than him would care to watch this. I hope it was useful for you.
It was useful; thank you. And I hope my feedback will help you in the future. (I am a photographer, although I specialize in portraits and nature/animal photography.)
Sounds like you might be better off pulling the unit and returning it to wherever you purchased it from. Explain the issues you are having and work out a better solution. Your situation sounds unique since I've only had great service from GARMIN in the past. Maybe you would be happier with Raymarine, Furuno, lowrance or simrad. I wouldn't switch, but if you are not pleased now, then better to make the decision while you are able. Best of luck

On your radar, how do you turn it from yellow to red
How do you erase your history of tracks (bread crumbs we refer). They get very busy when you stay in the same area.
How come you have a Furuno RD-30 display there too? Do you need it? How is it connected, does it have it's own transducer? Thanks
Mine was installed, no physical manual. How do you get it out of DEMO mode?
Can't get my gps coordination to show up
