If your 741xs doesn't start up, check your power fuse holder for corrosion. The tin on the fuse connector corrodes and causes a loss of continuity. Clean it off and try start up again. It basically causes low voltage drop out.
Nice presentation. This video would be half as long if the group would have paid better attention and stopped asking the same questions over and over. You handled it like a pro. Can you please clarify why I would use Traditional view versus ClearVu?
Hey there. I just got another 1243xsv to pair with a 943. Is it possible to share custom combo views or do you have to make custom views for each unit?
After watching this I am so happy that I have Raymarine on my main boat. I have GARMIN on a lake pontoon and it is terrible. Raymarine is much easier to configure and the flow of their screens is so much simpler. I am a power user so it’s not like I’m a newbie.
If I selected save a track, then turn the unit off ,say to dock up for lunch, once I turn the unit back on do I have to tell it to save tracks again or will it continue to save until I tell it to stop saving ?
I've had my Garmin Echomap Plus 94SV for over a year now and still haven't figured out how to update it. My computer does not have an SD slot as small as the micro one they use in the unit. I "think" I have my active captain app from my Iphone linked but sure enough before I could proceed it now tells me I have to get a 32gb MICRO SD card---so I had to order one. My question now is, it has a micro SD card in it already but it's a 4gb---I have no idea what it's for. Once I get the 32 GB do I remove the 4gb, place the 32gb in the slot, update, and then remove the 32 and put back the 4GB? Very confusing.THX Bill
Bill I hope this helps. I have had nothing but issues since I bought mine. Their latest fix is an update, I added some comments TO THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT GARMIN SENT ME: BOLD UNDER WINDOWS INSTALLATION 1.0 hopefully this can help you. I have done an update with mine and waiting to see if it fixes some of the issues. Directions that garmin Product.Support@garmin.com sent to me
Hello James,
Updating device software via Garmin.com: The software update bundle can be downloaded and installed to a blank/formatted microSD/SD card. Currently, the software update is only compatible with computers running Windows-based operating systems. Before downloading the update, there are two required items. 1. A microSD/SD card (minimum 4GB capacity and maximum 32GB capacity) 2. A micro/SD card reader With the micro/SD card inserted into the reader and connected to the computer: 1. Visit Garmin's device software update page 2. Choose the proper software bundle based off your Garmin device 3. If using a Mac, use the Chrome web browser to do the download. 4. If you use Safari, you will have to do the following: Create a “Garmin” folder on the SD card, and copy or drag the “gupdate.gcd” into the “Garmin” folder.
Windows Installation Instructions 1. Click on 'Download' and choose to save the file to your computer. Select an easy place to find the file, such as the 'My Documents', 'Downloads', or 'Desktop'. CLICK ON THE FILE FROM THE UPDATE ALLOW IT TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE COMPUTER SAVE IT TO THE COMPUTER THIS WILL GIVE A BOX WITH INSTRUCTIONS: MARINE PROCT UPDATE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE BOX IT WILL DOWN LOAD BACK ON TO THE SD CARD. REMOVE THE SD CARD TAKE IT TO THE GARMIN 2. Once the download is complete, go to the location where you saved the file. Double-click the downloaded file to copy the files from your computer to the SD card. 3. Power on the device and make sure all attached network devices are powered on as well. 4. Insert the card into the card slot of your primary device. Select 'Update Software' in the window that automatically displays. If you do not have a primary device with a card slot, please see your dealer or attempt to use the ActiveCaptain app to update software. 5. After the update completes, all Garmin Marine Network devices and NMEA 2000 sensors will have the latest software. This ensures all of the devices will be able to communicate with each other.
Installing the update to the chartplotter 1. Power on the device 2. Choose "I Agree" when the Warning screen appears 3. Insert the micro/SD update card into the device 4. Choose “Update Software” • The update will begin updating the connected device as well as any other compatible accessories or devices present on the NMEA 2000 or Garmin Marine Network. IMPORTANT: Do not remove the software update card until the device fully reboots and "I Agree" has been selected on the Warning screen. Removing the software update card before the process has finished may corrupt the operating system and may cause the device to become inoperable.

Try using active captain app, you can upload your purchased Maps to it and get the same relief details. But none the less, Navionics is easier to use which is weird since Garmin owns that company.
I just think it's a shame how judgemental people choose to be. Everyone starts somewhere. I'm just glad that people want to learn despite this type of criticism.
@@we4659 Yes, even wrote their service tech up. I have four of their products, two fish finders and two gps devices. In fact, I purchased one of their first gps devices, and it put me off a mile and a half. Thank God, I carried a topo map and compass. Garmin admitted they had a software glitch and fixed it. I was happy, shit happens and they fixed it, but when someone is rude and doesn't intend to help, and throws insults, I'm not going to stand for that, ever. I don't care how good of products they have, if I believe their service is poor, I won't ever purchase a product from that company again. In my case, I believe it was one rude support tech, but if it happens again, I'm done.
Thank you so much I’m in Australia and that video was so educational I’m really glad I watch this
Iam so pleased I’ve sat though and listened and watched your video ,many thanks
Great info and well presented. Just bought one. Thanks!
People, these are beginning boaters. They’re in a class asking questions. I love the way everyone else is an expert on day one.
This guy was great, I love my inreach mini. Blue-toothed to phone with pre set custom messages
Excellent video and clear explanation on how to use a Garmin.
Excellent job! Hoping to be on the water with a Garmin this coming spring and this was very helpful.
This was awesome! Thank you!

I owe Ed Gleason and the boat club a bottle of wine or liquor for putting this up Thank you all!
How do I get out of simulation mode on my Garmin 942XS?
Does the SOS work like the DSC with a MMSI?

Is there any advanced sonar classes?
Do they still do these classes??
How did some of them people even find the way to that class lol
It’s “those people” not “them “people
Think before you criticize others
Ed, Do you have a schedule of your classes for next summer? I’m on the north east coast of New Jersey.
What dealer’s will be supporting your class ?

the micro-sd card goes into a regular sd card adapter, for installing it into a computer. one will come with a micro-sd card you buy.
To bad this doesn’t sync with Navionics. Plotting a route would be a snap!

Tracks work great for lobster pots
I have gamin gsd24 black box I want to play the box on my laptop i need garmin ip plaese.
Existe en español?
Some of these questions Im thinking these people dont need to be operating a boat
great video. room full of people that aren't paying attention or they are idiots. not sure. instructor is very patient
wow I cannot believe these guys are going to be let lose on the high seas, feel sorry for the presenter
These people seem clueless he should just make sure they know how to contact Coast Guard they’ll be lost as hell.
thought this was a 742 tutorial........audience doesn't even know the basics, should just stay on shore
i mean people who rent boats or a part of a boat club have no knowledge
I just think it's a shame how judgemental people choose to be. Everyone starts somewhere. I'm just glad that people want to learn despite this type of criticism.
Had extremely poor service, very rude techs.
