Keltbray have lowered the roof of Earls Court 1 exhibition centre in an eleven-hour, precision operation as part of the ongoing deconstruction of the Earls Court exhibition halls. The buildings are being dismantled to make way for the regeneration of Earls Court by Capital & Counties Properties Plc (Capco), creating a vibrant new part of London with 7,500 new homes, 1.2m sq ft of commercial and retail space and central London’s newest park.
The 1,300 tonne, 126 metre long x 75 metre wide roof was slowly lowered from 54 meters above the ground in a carefully planned and controlled operation which was four years in the planning. Over the next six months, the reinforced concrete frames of the roof support and the walls will be safely removed, clearing the site for redevelopment. In recent months, the roof and red steel frames of EC2 have been deconstructed and the concrete floor is now being carefully removed. 99% of all materials removed will be recycled.
The EC1 roof lowering is a major milestone in the demolition of the main exhibition hall and for the Earls Court development. Both Earls Court 1 and 2 are due to be fully demolished by mid-2016, at which point the site will then be prepared for the next phase of construction.

Hope the people that authorised this can sleep, should have built a Mosque on it to really ram it in!

I was at three of the Pink Floyd gigs on the Division Bell tour there at Earl's Court back in 1994. Turned out to be some of their final shows. Never really been a fan of big arenas but I always liked this venue. Also saw Iron Maiden, Metallica, Paul McCartney, and the Who here. Sad to see it go.

Peace be upon you. We would like to inform all the managers in charge of this company. It is true. I do not know it nor have I worked for it. We inform you that there is a group that defrauds individuals in the name of the Keltbray Company. I am one of the people nearby. I fell into a scam. They sent me documents in the name of the company. In the end, they asked me to pay 400 pounds sterling. If I had not been intelligent, I would have been a victim. We ask the administrators to be aware that there is a scam in the name of this company by people whose mission is to steal the majority of people’s money

Vandalism? No, but annoying and to some heartbreaking to see, yes.
