  • A teenage boy throws eggs at a man on his morning run.
    FLYING EGGS is used with permission from Sheldon Chau. Learn more at sheldonchau.com.
    Tony is out for his morning job in NYC when his workout is interrupted by an egg flying out at him from above, barely missing him as it splatters on the sidewalk. Tony needs to decide: should he go about his business or confront the perpetrator?
    But when an egg finally does hit him, he goes after the prankster. And what he discovers upstairs in the apartment above will upend all his expectations.
    Director Sheldon Chau and writer Antonio Garcia Jr. have created a short gem of a thriller, combining narrative surprise, terrific cinematography and propulsive editing to power an audience through an engaging roller-coaster of a film that will take viewers to a place they will not see coming.
    The film has a strong foundation, resting on a tight, well-focused script that develops an everyday city dweller's dilemma into something infinitely darker, and ultimately more devastating.
    The story's element of genuine surprise can't be overstated, but what the film does with that twist is ingenuous, emotionally compelling and demands incredible skill and craftsmanship to carry off. The short pays off that twist in spades, ensuring no moment is wasted or overstays its welcome and making sure each beat lands its visceral punch.
    As the film races towards its climax, what we think has become an ordinary everyday drama has become weighty and even profound -- an example of the surprising ways our sense of ethics and morality are tested in today's world.
    The result is a cinematic experience that begins one way and lands in completely unexpected -- but sadly logical -- territory. FLYING EGGS is ultimately about the tension between what we expect and what really lurks underneath those sometimes paltry assumptions, shaped by our experiences, ideas or moral imagination. With its blend of intelligent writing, intense and economical performances and stellar craft, this is a short that will have hearts both racing and breaking at the same time.

What comes after that is the development of characters, the unfold of details and backgrouds, etc. The things that give the whole plot a meaning, And those things can only be achieved in more than 30 mins, to really be able to give all those things sustance. @a.h.s.3006 3 роки тому +1

      I actually expected it to be a kidnap situation from minute one, then my expectations were subverted by the boy being disabled, like he just does it for no reason cause he doesn't know any better, then it turns out it was double trouble and that he is actually kidnapped but couldn't say it even if he wanted to, and now I am left wondering if he just throws eggs or if it is his way of acting out against kidnapping.
      My expectations and awareness of reality got subverted twice

    I believe this story is based off one I heard like 15 years ago. An arrogant man bought a sports car because he loved showing off materialistic lifestyle. One day he decided to drive it down a neighboorhood to show off to all the parents what they could've had. While speeding past a few parked cars, a brick hurtled out of nowhere, immediately creating a large dent on the hood. The dent was very obvious, and instantly the man was filled with rage. Pulling over, he followed the kid toward his side-yard to yell at him, and saw a young boy crouched next to his brother, who was laying on the ground next to a tree. The brother was bleeding profusely from a large scrape on his leg. Ultimately, the man was able to help them. Humbled, he kept the mark on the care as an ode to that day.

  • @ejiejejenejejejebensidjdbd6746
    @ejiejejenejejejebensidjdbd6746 4 роки тому +214

    The eggs were a call for help. The kids were being held hostage by their “parents” and Chris (The autistic teenager) was trying to get out of his abusive home because he didn’t want to live in the house he was living in so he threw eggs to get attention from a stranger to help him out. Why did he use eggs? He wanted people to invade his house in anger and then realize what was going on and why he did it. The mom was trying to scare the man out of the house just so she could hide what she was doing to her kids. She calls John (The big guy that fights the man) to fight the man and try to get him out of the house (or to make sure he doesn’t rescue the teenager) he fails and gets hardly kicked in the knee. If you were wondering if the rest of the kids were saved or not, they might of because at the end of the video, the man calls the cops so they could investigate the house that he was just in. The cops might of arrested the parents and taken the kids somewhere safe. Hope this makes sense because this is what the story tried explaining. Nice short story film also.
