LEGO Star Wars VENATOR Comparison! (8039 vs 75367 | 2009 vs 2023)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 гру 2024
- In 2009 we saw the LEGO Clone Wars 8039 Venator playset and at long last in 2023 we have the 75367 UCS Venator! Both sets were made with different goals in mind and of course prices with the 2009 Venator coming in at $120 against the $650 for the UCS Venator! Can the play-scale LEGO Star Wars Venator compete and is it worth buying over the UCS Venator in 2023?

I sure hope we can get another playscale version of this. I just hope if it does happen, it doesn’t get downscaled like LEGO is doing with everything these days.
Itll be nice to get an accurate play scaled one. The old one looked so derpy and thick
I think for the mini scale gunship you just gotta flip the cheese slope pieces the other way to better represent wings of the gunship but idk just me
Strait up facts. The Gunship looks terrible next to the real representation. However the AT-Te although down scaled retains the correct proportions. Which the gunship doesn’t. But I definitely prefer the bigger scaled sets.
never gonna happen
@@Silly_Fella2222 why? We literally just got a UCS one. Also looking at the history we had a UCS Gunship and then a playscale one a couple years later. Dumb Comment
There is a huge size difference, it just finally gets you to appreciate the scale of the ucs one
That's what she said
Guess what blud, the UCS is barely 2.5 times bigger for 5 times the price. Doesn't sound cool to me.
@@pantelisdalezios811 no way you only compare the size lol, everything better
@legotiblego2129 I don't only compare the size, the one is a play set. I want my UCS to be huge but this one just isn't
@@pantelisdalezios811you don’t know how scale and dimensions work. if you have 2 cubes, and one is “2 times bigger”, it has 8 times the mass. if you made the UCS venator twice as big as it is now, it could be up to 8 times as expensive. and if you ask me, it’s expensive enough.
I can't believe we're lucky enough to have the ability to compare venators. This is the stuff dreams are made of.
so true
Am I the only one who actually enjoys the hybrid animation and live action artstyle LEGO has gone with for these prequel figures? With so many appearances in live action with these Disney Plus shows, I feel like it's a decent balance. It's sort of limiting to just base a figure on a specific movie or something when we only see the figure so often
I like it too because it means I don't have 346 variants of one figure just because one is from the movie, one from a show and one from another
I like it to
Tottaly agree.
Was looking for a comment like yours. I want all my lego with similar style. Not different animation types of clones in the same supposed to be uniformed army. Besides, the clone wars faces were not the peak of lego facial expression in my opinion
I hate that palps figure he gives me nighmares
The rex ammo pouch is big cuz in the Ashoka show his ammo pouch is also big, might i say massive.
For a new playscale Venator, I'd maybe like to see it as an actual carrier. No interior for mini-figures, but the space is used for a hangar and you get some mini-scale fighters and gunships. Maybe even an AT-TE or two. It can even have some minifigs as a bonus. This way, the Venator largely retains its sleekness.
For other prequel ships as updated playscale models with minifig interactions, I'd prefer a new Republic Frigate, a Republic Arquitens, or even an Acclamator ship.
An acclamator is literally what I've been waiting for, I've been wanting it for years atp 😭
@Toothpi_ck It's a pretty cool ship. Kind-of torn if it should be in 2002 Clone Wars colors or 2008 series with the red markings.
@alderkm7901 I think the 2002 would be more likely
No
I didn’t realize how much they were able to pack into the old one
I’m a bit confused as to why the new figures being more realistic is a problem when that makes them fit more with the majority of other figures and gives them a consistent style. Great comparison apart from that though.
Maybe I'm just stupid, but him acting like the venator came from the clone wars and not from revenge of the sith and then criticizing it for not being reminiscent of the clone wars was a bit confusing
@@quindarius_bingletonyeah, mandr loves to moan about stupid stuff, kinda trying to quit his content recently because hes just depressingly negative and loves to impose his opinions on people.
I fully support play scale sets, but I am personally more interested in the micro/midi scale ships. Can we expect to see this in that scale eventually?
Maybe micro, doubt midi
@@joeym5243the two that got midi'd before was the Millennium Falcon and Imperial Star Destroyer, so a Venator to go with the new Executor isn't impossible.
Hopefully! Next year we're seemingly only getting more OT ships, but considering that with both the helmets and dioramas LEGO added prequel-era sets to the lineups in the third year I could definitely see LEGO making a midi-scale Venator in 2024.
The pauldron quality looks really sharp compared to the old one, too bad they didn’t include the bottom cloth piece. 😭
SolidBrixStudios has a dual blaster/bottom cloth for 5 bucks.
Gonna say it: Massivley prefer regular style figures for clone wars sets over the more show accurat versions, mostly because it makes it easier to put my figures together and not have anything feel out of place.
4:00 what is anxiety. This. Swinging this around.
Man, I want the Venator, but I’m currently having a blast building Gringotts and really want LOTR Rivendale. What a time to be LEGO fan!
The fact that the bay doors on the playscale are 6 studs tall compared to 5 on the UCS is hilarious
3:25 fricking love the fact that you start off with “alright now let’s test the “swooshability” of both venators” 😂😂😂 cause we all know this is exactly what we will do with our venators
🤨👍 100% love your reviewing skills Brutha 👍👍
That seam (or lack there of) on the UCS Venator is incredibly impressive. Despite what some may expect, Lego is not an exact science, so the designers being able to fit parts like that is insane.
Stickers on a UCS set will always be so funny to me. I don’t put stickers on my $10 sets. If there’s essential details only portrayed through terrible-looking stickers I simply won’t buy it. Isn’t it their job to figure that kinda stuff out?
Usually their prints are way less sharp than their stickers. The republic insignia probably would not have had very good quality control printed vs sticker, idk why they didn’t print the other ones
Looks great! Just bought the old play set Venator. I’m excited to build it😊 Great video!
Great set!
Had me worried you'd loss the upload streak, keep it up king. 👑
Should’ve included the $5 Polybag Venator in the comparison for those of us who have no money (I know you already did the short but still)
Ngl I'm in love with the venator as a whole. Such a beautiful ship😍
I know it’ll never happen but I wish there was a UCS providence or lucrehulk. They got the Venator so good and I wanna see the CIS capital ships too. Missed oppurtunity by Lego for never making them.
It definitely could happen
I would love for a mid scale venator like the super star destroyer we got this year
The size difference be crazy
just have to say the polybag at 13:03 is fire....🔥
Was about to go asleep and then I saw and upload from Ryan! Love these comparisons, UCS Venator FTW
Back in 2009, I built the Venator and carried it to my friend's house across the alley. On my way back, I held it by the handle and spun in a circle for a long swoosh. The entire underside and interior became dislodged, hit the concrete, and exploded into hundreds of pieces in the alley. I got nervous just now watching Ryan give it the swoosh test
I never realized how packed with play features the play scale venator is.
I wan to see someone turn the UCS set fully into a ROTS variant. I've seen the bridges swapped out, but I want to see the logos moved forward and the stripe completed (the panels should also slightly be raised for a sharper angle but that one can be omitted)
The two blue guys in the 2009 set aren't commandos, they're senate guards and actually normal humans
From a practical standpoint for me the original Ventor is better in my opinion but if I had the room money and time for the new one I would totally buy it but the new one is just too big
I hope that they might do an invisible hand UCS set maybe next or the next year who knows its Lego.
“They both look really good from behind”-Ryan
I gotta say, ive noticed a huge spike in quality in your videos recently, the editing and production has been getting better and better.
People have been way too kind to the original venator, it was genuinely awful and the Palpatine figure is one of nightmares
This is partly true, while it is pretty bad, for the time it was a good set…i see the 2009 one as a stepping stone for what we have seen since then
I worked so hard to build it and it just gave out on me once it was built. I didn't even get to play with it
Yeah I agree, I think the fact it's an older set so people have nostalgia and the fact that's a venator that's helped save it from alot of criticism
I don't even understand why it had to be so thick. It was a few inches taller than the figures at the very back.
@@Gabe0mazingпотому что это первый корабль такого масштаба для игры во всей линейке Звездных Войн.
You: Venator set 8039
The guy she tells you not to worry about: UCS Venator
Did anyone see the leaks for the UCS Venator? It looks awesome!
Hope you do a size comparison between the Lego UCS Venator and RB UCS Venator.
I would love to see a comparison between the UCS Venator and what you consider to be the best looking MOC Venator.
The Polybag part made me laugh
I'll probably get both, and see if the Polybag can fit in the open hangar door
You should do a comparison between the UCS Venator and the Republic Bricks Venator as they're similar
I had the 2009 one when I was a kid, it was the biggest and most expensive lego set I ever had until 2024 (now it is the UCS venator) lol. I wish my mom didn't get rid of the family legos. There were sets from 4 generations dating back to the 1950s that my grandpa owned.
God that looks so epic... Especially the engines, they are perfect.
The Ucs one is just crazy. I can't believe Lego finally released one!
Why doesn't LEGO load these expensive UCS sets with tons of great minifigures?? I think something like this should have at least 10
For now I'll keep apreciating my old OG Venator! New one is just amazing but too big and amazing! No space for it and not even money to buy it! One day maybe!
The UCS Venator looks insanely good. Just wish they would have included an interactive hangar with mini models.
There are so many people who claim a hangar wasn’t possible, which really isn’t true. I understand they need a way to support the front part, but they could have easily separated the two beams by just enough to add a micro scale hangar. It’s been done several times by people creating mocs of the venator, and more than half the time the scale is much, much larger than the UCS. Pretty disappointed as it would have made this a literal perfect set.
@@ultron3065 I mean it's possible I guess... But it would cost much more and would have much more pieces. If you want to pay more then 650... Sure I guess.... I personally don't care about a feature which I use 1 one time and not anymore.
@@tomgu2285 I can understand this perspective, and I agree to an extent because at the end of the day, you’re right. Most people, myself included would just display it.
However, creating this function would allow for more display options, and the hangar doors at the front are the biggest feature of this specific ship. I’d be more than happy if they got rid of the side hangar just simply for the front hangar, or at least a small part of it. Plus, just knowing it’s there is really cool too. I also doubt it would have costed that much more, and I would pay the extra 50-100 if it meant some extra features. I mean, if you’re spending $650+ on a Lego set I don’t think anyone gonna be mad for a small price bump for some really cool features.
I’m hoping to get it one day (cus the venator has always been my favorite Star Wars ship) and potentially modify the interior to simply add a small hangar.
@@ultron3065Exactly! It wouldn't have hurt stability one bit.
That moving about with the playsets handle gave me PTSD of when I did that and the bottom half fell on the floor
I think your mini figure criticism isn’t quite reasonable- when we see multiple slightly different visualizations of the same in universe thing, I think Lego is in the right for making them look the same. Lego having a consistent style for all Star Wars things is a huge plus in my eyes.
I really think the micro-scale gunship in the port bay looks more like a newer Jedi shuttle, not the t-6 but the other dome-front one.
Ryan, even though the captain Rex mini figure is an accurate to the show is accurate to the live action. Ashoka poster the pauldron thingy is huge
Realistic minifigs will always be better than those nightmare fuel animated minifigures
Now we need a ucs invisible hand to go along side this one, ofc changing the bridge
I love the UCS version! For all of us fans of ROTS and Clone Wars, we have been waiting for this for a long time. When I can finally get one, I will be modifying it with internal space for minifigures, because I love modifying sets to fit personal preferences.
I’ve been watching Mandrs sub count slowly catch up to Solidbrix’s for months now and he is finally less than 1,000k away, just thought I’d share
I remember watching the TV commercial for the 2009 venator and realy wanting to get it. However.... Yeah my parents wouldn't buy it for me so I didn't even bother getting it or asking my parents because I knew I wouldn't get it anyway.
my biggest complaint about the new venator is something nobody is talking about. it should have come with a small republic frigate to fit on the underside docking bay. just like the isd got the tantive
I love this comparison
I actually can’t believe they released it
Will it all depends what you want. If you want to have epic clone wars battles with your tanks and figures, then obviously the playset is the best option, but if you just want an astounding ornament to look magnificent, it’s obviously the recent one:
Republic bricks comparison next? 👀
What we need the most is a UCS Acclamator, and UCS Victory.
Can you make a video with new era of clones (produced since 2020)? It would be interesting to see them together and compare to the old versions. And it would be great to see new Rex, Cody and Fox together
I'l love to see Lego release an ISD II set for the 50th anniversary that has the same scale as the Venator, just so you can get a sense of what the REALLY big ships look like.
The anxiety I get when you Woosh it around is massive
When he started swooshing the UCS I almost had a heart attack
Would you ever just swap the red bridge out for grey pieces?
This MAY take over my favorite LEGO Star Wars set that I’ll own, knocking off the beautiful UCS Slave I
The difference is crazy!
Glad Polybag Venator finally got its moment to shine
Hopefully we will be able to build a little interior into the ucs venator
honestly with the size difference, the play set venator kinda looks like an acclimator class in comparison to the UCS.
Those UCS LEGO Star Wars sets are way too expensive. But for me, I stick with those scaled-down versions of those UCS sets which are way cheaper.
This is a really fantastic comparison I think you sold me on my first UCS!
damn i remember wanting the 2009 one when i was little. just seeing it in the physical lego catalogue ads and wondering/dreaming was fun
Howdy MandR, I signed up to Rakuten using your link and got $40, so I just wanted to say thank you!
Oh my Force, that is magnificent.
I think we should appreciate all the play features back in the day! I had so much fun playing with the play-scale venator!
But yes, in 2023, we should be getting the UCS Venator without a doubt.
12 hrs to build that monstrosity of a venator?! Whoa! That’s a big ship! 😮
there could have been an interior if there where two parellel supporting structures that went through the body, where you could have interior space in between them.
Question for the people that wanted an interior, did you want a minifig scale interior or an interior accurate to the scale?
@@thetombuck to scale, definitely. its a display piece. having the hangers and a number of mini fighters would be a great display piece. maybe something like the
mini fig scale would ruin the look.
I would love a play-scale Acclamator personally. That ship doesn't get enough love.
Me and my friend were talking about lego today and he told me about the UCS venator, I've been out the game for a year and now I make my debut return ...
If I ever can get my hands on the UCS Venator, I'm gonna cry
How much more 'well built' do you think it is compared to the UCS Star Destroyer. It feels like if you press down somewhere the plates will just crumble on the ISD.
Hey Ryan do you think you’ll ever do a Jek-14’s star fighter vs E-wing comparison?
Old Clone Wars Minifigures are too creepy.
I wish they would release an update playset. I'm about to order the 2024 Star Destroyer for my display and I think it would be sick to have a Venator-class that's roughly the same size to put beside it. I like the current play set, but at the price it's going for I might as well get the UCS, but I don't want a UCS sized Venator-class because it wouldn't be the same scale as the Star Destroyer. It's such a conundrum.
Compare it with your republic bricks version next! I love the UCS venator I am picking it up day 1 👍
Thanks for the amazing side by side comparison! Keep up the great work!
you could easily modify the UCS venator to have an interior and play features, there's just so much ROOM
I love you vids man keep up the good work
Do a lego star wars 2 in 1 vs set comparison woth all the sets over the year, which was the best value? We just got 2 this year so its a good video topic
Unpopular opinion: the little one is so much funnier! Those interiors and playable features are just glorious
Its not unpopular. The old one was meant to be a playset, for kids to play with. The new one is a UCS set and is marketed towards collectors so it sacrifices play features for a way better looking model
It looks glorious
Dope, thanks. Love the videos.
I actually have a 09 venator (in pieces) brings me back to the day of playing with it
9:30 shots fired at shield generator
You should've reviewed the polybag with them, it's honestly the best of the three
Honestly, the polybag is really good
What a nice original trilogy set. Might get it to put beside my original trilogy gunship
lets be real nobody is gonna make the same memories of the playset one with the ucs version
