I am getting the new SKX homage of Escapement time soon. It is now Quartz, 2S60 Miyota movement and has a date window at 4 o'clock. I am hoping that Bezel problem is fix on mine. It says 39mm diameter and 43 mm lug to lug. It has a coin edge crown. Lume is still excellent. Can wait for it. This might be my last. I started with Seiko 5KX and will end it with SKX Homage. I am posting this comment 12/31/23. Happy New to all.
Nice and honest review. Congratulations for this success. It is a shame that there is that bezel, crown and too small hands issues. Cause I really like that no date interprétation of this skx. Shall they fix these little issues I would certainly buy one.
Good review - spot on, mine arrived earlier this week and it has the same bezel issues and unreachable crown - other than that it’s a lovely finished watch
Kudos to both you and Escapement Time. Compatibility with SKX parts is key. What's missing in the market at this price.... an ultra generic diver like a Titus or Cimier, compatible with SKX parts, it'd have to be 39.5mm. Steeldive almost makes one, the diver 65 homage, but it's not SKX compatible at 42mm.
I regret buying this watch. It is nice to look at, but that's about it. Thanks for the review, and I have learned to wait for the review before buying a watch from now on :D
I just rewatched this video to compare the bezel action to my watch, which arrived this week. After expecting the worst, I was surprised to find that on mine, the bezel action is consistent all the way around. I can count each of the 60 clicks. None of those "double clicks" you experienced. I don't know if this means I was just lucky, or if Escapement Time sorted the problem out.
Interesting. Since the double clicks are pretty random around the bezel it could just be the slightest bit of tolerancing error. I expect it to be a mixed bag going forward unless the guy actually fixed/updated the click spring. Glad to hear yours has nice action!
Would you know what the diameter of the crown is and length. I was thinking maybe a bigger and longer crown might fix the crown issue. I just need to wait for delivery to find out
Anyone tried changing that crown? I reached out to vendor to ask if parts would be direct replacements from the SKX, but he indicated that he hadn't tried.
Thanks for the bezel fix video as well! Still not sure I wouldn't want to swap it out for a 120 click but as it's been indicated, nobody is going to use one of these for actual diving!
I haven't seen anyone try yet. I haven't even taken it out to see what's up with it. Makes me a little nervous since it's the first line of defense against water intrusion....so gaskets would have to be the same. Thread pitch is also something that needs to be checked as well.
@@EscapeWheel True true. Good point on thread pitch too. I guess some things are "standard" in this industry, but with certainly no guarantees... Nothing the BFI method wouldn't fix though? (Brute Force and Ignorance). Kidding!
I've talked to the owner of the Escapement Time, regarding the issues with the bezel. He claims that very early production models suffered from this, but later models have improved bezel action. I don't know if i believe him to be honest, ih he was aware of the issues why did he send those watches to the customers?...i should recieve mine mid March (hopefully).
Apparently, the owner of Escapement Time has now changed his mind, and says the bezel action in this video is normal bezel action and nothing is wrong. At least, according to a post on a watch forum I belong to.
@@EscapeWheel Maybe I misunderstood this, but I think it was you that wrote on WUS "I have since clearified with the seller what's going on and he assured me this is the normal bezel behavior and won't be sending a replacement or fix. "
Did your watch arrive yet, Marko? And how was the bezel action? My watch arrived this week, and I was surprised to find the bezel works fine. 60 clear clicks.
Looks great...I'm a massive fan of Escapement time...but that bezel is absolutely unforgivable form me. I this is their first diver...hopefully they'll learn from this one mistake. Looks like a nicely finished watch though.
I like Escapement Times watches. That being said, Dive watch homage watches are a dime a dozen. They need to be flawless. I will wait until Escapement Time irons out all the problems with this watch before purchasing one.
Agree, but if you are looking for a mod base, this is a good option. Solid case finishing, ceramic lumed insert, and killer lume out of the box and what seems to be full mod compatibility with the SKX.
@@EscapeWheel I was going to ask if it's mod compatible...Case is right. Off the bat, this seems to be one of the better skx007 homages - the dial needs those indices. Where I comes short for me, aesthetically, lays in the hands: too thin it looks.

They now have a 39mm variant available but with quartz movement. A what are your thoughts on that ?

The hands don't bother me, personally. But yeah, the bezel needs some work and the crown needs a lot more grip

Agreed, bummer yours is like mine. I was hoping he had fixed it, but I guess not
Same complaints.
@@MeanE be sure to check out my latest video! Bezel is pretty easy to fix

Funny you mention the diver 65....just ordered a bronze one! I LOVE skin divers! We need more!
I want a case like that on the SKX. I don't like the hands or dial on this but if it's 007 compatible, then good!

It really is a bummer. I hoping I can mod this with a new crown and maybe just keep it a friction bezel.

So it can't really be wound by crown??
Yes, it can be wound. Issue with the crown is lack of grip when screwing in or out. Once it's out it functions like any other NH35 watch
