- 🔎 FAQ: justinesmic.ca... y'all. i had the BIGGEST sweeney todd phase when i was middle school (also i'm pretty sure johnny depp and helena bonham carter were my bisexual awakening). i was obsessed with all versions of the musical, from its various stage productions, to the movie, everything!
i especially adored the character, mrs. lovett, and i spent a lot of time studying her character and writing about her (yes...i wrote a few fan fiction drafts). with my obsession for this musical grew my desire to one day play her. however, my local theatre groups rarely did this show, and if they did i was too busy to audition. imagine how much joy it brings me to finally record this as a cover, and to perform it with someone as talented as barry! i've been wanting to cover this song for a while, and i figured october would be the perfect month to do it. :)

The fact that you guys coverd the whole song just fills my heart! The puns and light bickering between mr.todd and mrs.lovett really help develop their relationship.
The fact that they really sound very "animated", it is so accurate and clean.
The number of years it took me to put together the joke that the line immediately after 'Actors always arrive overdone' is delivered ridiculously overdone...
And the foreshadowing of both of their deaths (Lovett serving him executioner; Sweeney executes many and Lovett at least aims to execute Toby, only to wind up in the actual pie oven).
Yes! Someone doing the full song! And the fact that you didn’t try to stay straight faced is truly masterful! This song just sounds so…. Off when it’s performed in a more calm way. You two laughed and had fun with it, and THAT is how this song really shines!
... Okay, look, no one's ever gonna replace Jack Sparrow/Mad Hatter/Grindelwald & Skynet/Iracebeth/Bellatrix Lestrange singing for me, but goddamnit you got pretty damn close with this extended (original, I'm guessing?) version! XD
Encore! I demand "My Friends", "Pretty Women" and "Epiphany", you must! Name your price!
I'm a be honest, almost every version surpasses Depp's and Elena's. And it's not really their fault, I think Burton took too serious this project, while the original musical is more of a horror comedy.
Sorry, but Angela Lansbury & Len Cariou, Patti Lupone & George Hearn, Imelda Stauton & Michael Ball, all of them are much stronger singers and they put on a much better performances. I mean, if you're going to portray a pair of amoral psychopaths planning to capitalize off of murdering half of your customers and tricking the other half in unwittingly commit cannibalism/ destruction of evidence all while singing morbid puns, the least you can do is look like you're enjoying yourselves.
Not only were you two just plain amazing but your banter and comedic timing were also divine! A++!

I still dont get the first joke to this day
Basically a curate is an assistant to priest or vicar and a bishop is a high ranking member of the catholic church who oversees the management of churches in a certain area. That first part is basically joking that a priest is more devoted (Hearty) to their faith than a curate but not as much as a bishop. The second part "always leaves you wanting more" is probably just the idea that a priest incentivizes people to come back to come back to church. And the last part "we only get it in on Sundays" is because Catholic masses are usually attended on Sunday.
That was awesome! And hey, that would be great for traditional animated horror-drama thriller musical film "Sweeney Todd" for 2027, and it will be directed by AaronVision-NM duos (Aaron B. and Nick M.) and that songs and music will be great by putting credited for "Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim", and "Songs Produced by Stephen Sondheim", and Alan Menken will be serving for original score and song remaking for this with adaption and produced, and songs arranged for Sweeney Todd songs too! And Carl Johnson will be adapting & producing with Alan too as well!
