The wisdom is strong in this one.
yes it is, but he started a war in the comments...
Kate Dog Meh, people will be people.
BlueBrickTARDIS that is the most beautiful thing i have ever hear or read or whatever
I found myself distracted by the Knee-Jerk Reaction countdowns XD
me too!
LOL too funny!!!!!!!!!!! I love it when they come up with something new and hilarious!! ;)
*HOW COULD YOU BE SO STUPID, AS TO GET DISTRACTED BY A STUPID COUNTDOWN CLOCK, STUPID?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!*
I did too
Plastic Planet Productions I found myself distracted by the hipster millennial speaking
THATS THE SOUND OF ANGRY AND EMPASSIONED COMMENTING BENEATH THE VIDEO! I think i died.
this explains sooo many youtube debates/arguments
I didn't have a knee-jerk reaction to either side of the abortion comment
Nor did I... Woo for the easy going people!
Same
Neither do I. I wouldn't personally get an abortion myself because I would want my child to live but there are people who feel that they need to get an abortion (ex. unable to provide a life for the child due to finances, too young to care for a child, ect.)
I'm between the two. I believe that a girl should be able to have control over her body but I don't think it's really right if the baby is developed. Idk, it's just my opinion.
See, that's the only thing I'm wondering about this video.. because I did react strongly to one, but I really don't think I was getting defensive (Maybe I was, idk). But I feel like you have to really believe in something, right? I mean, the whole Jesus and the whip scenario.
You wrote this whole video just so you could use that bad pun, didn't you?
WHAAAAAT!!!??! I hate you!!! I NEVER HAVE KNEE JERK REACTIONS!!! EVER!!!
*WHAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT?!?!?!?!?* You're so wrong and stupid and your opinion offended me!
YOU BETTER THINK THE WAY I THINK OR I'M GUNNA HURT YOU!
Jordan, I just beat your record for longest time spend on one foot while pointing at the other knee. I did it for sixty seconds.
*impassioned and angry comment*
**Impassioned and angry reply**
Discouraging knee-jerk reactions is too general. Some things need to be defended. Especially when the people involved should know better. Take when Christ got upset about the money-changers and merchants in the temple, for example.
I'm not sure you can say that Jesus ever reacted before his brain caught up to him (the definition here of a "knee jerk" reaction). Sometimes people just need a kick in the pants to get a point across.
I Agree with you Micman. God does talk about how there are times or things we should get angry about and do something about it
I feel like a lot of these reactions aren't because a person is insecure about their opinion, but rather that they feel that opposing view is screwing up the world. Like, that it is killing millions of babies, or oppressing women.
"Keep your identity separate from your opinion. They are objects in a box that you carry with you, and if it turns out they're no good. If you think the objects in the box are who you are then you'll cling to them despite any evidence to the contrary"
-CGP Grey
if not for knee jerk reactions the comment sections across internet would become quite stale.
Actually some knee-jerk reactions can come from psychological problems... I get overly defensive about my drawings because my mom used to sign them off as shit only coz they were anime style, not realistic... Or about my dreams and hopes, coz my parents would always dismiss everything I said as a kid as the stupidest thing a human could even imagine and that at best I will be sweeping the streets and picking up trash... So from my family constantly putting me down, I often over-react when there's actually nothing wrong at all...! soo yeah
Your drawings are awesome, I can tell from your profile pic! And she has no right to stifle your creativity! BLAHBlUURRRAH Ok, no seriously, don't let them get in the way of your artisticness.
Oh heheh, sorry but my icon is not drawn by me actually ^^; You can check me on DeviantArt! I'm atsirka there ^^ And, I try, that's why I want to start making videogames, like "In yo faces, creativity can also provide with a good income, unlike how you bastards keep barking"
Ok, I'll check it out. :3
Okay ^^ Thanku QwQ
Well that's unfair from your family, like jeesh! But eh, When it comes to my family I just put on a pokerface and pretend I dont exist for the rest of the day
Holy (blimey) cow! Mine says uploaded 1 minute ago, 1 view, and one comment that says first! I am legend! Horray!
I just stood on one foot while pointing at the other knee for 31 seconds... YOU'VE MET YOUR MATCH, JORDAN!! >=D
someone show this to tumblr
Angry commenting!!
Angry reply
BigRedProductions11 ANGRY RESPONSE TO ANGRY REPLY TO ANGRY COMMENT!!!
ANGRY REPLY TO ANGRY RESPONSE TO ANOTHER ANGRY REPLY ABOUT AN ANGRY RESPONSE TO AN ANGRY COMMENT!
Lol
Anger intensifies!
Angry disegreeing
I wonder how many people just got up to stand on one foot and point at the other knee for longer than 30 seconds.
It's so comforting to know that there's people like the Blimey Cow team left in the world to broadcast level-headedness to us all :D keep up the awesomeness guys!
This is awesome. These are great comic relief. I use my knee-jerk reactions to assess how I'm doing. They're a good signal to take a step back and make some inner changes.
Jus' saying, the "This is the colour red" got more of a reaction from me than either statement about abortion. Not sure what that says about me...
LOL sameeeee xD
Artist maybe?
haha same here. I always get a knee jerk reaction to people saying something like that.. xD
Personally, I really enjoy these vids that give more of an explanation instead of the lists, but I'm just really glad to see something from you guys every week.
The use of the timer was inspired I think, it shook things up from the usual formats.
Wow. I swear, Kelly gets more beautiful by the minute. :-)
The heck
George Washington said, "I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party, generally. This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy. The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty."
I needed this last week. It felt like all of my classes last week involved me having knee-jerk reactions to what other people were doing.
There's a reason why my dad has always told me, "You gotta just let stuff roll off your back and not take yourself (and other people) too seriously."
I just beat your world record of 31 seconds. Beat that!
😂😂😂
I don't know that Knee-Jerk Reactions happen because people feel threatened. Often it's because of a genuine concern for the other person's soul.
Ditto. It could even be both in the same moment..
YES! I have literally been thinking about this sort of thing for the past year. I just can never understand why certain things make me SO mad if I should be secure in my opinions! Glad to know someone's in the same boat
this guy's body language is like a blend of the Skipper and Gilligan from "Gilligan's Island". Hilarious.
I was kinda freaking out about the countdown noise
When I read the title I thought that blimey cow was going to go scientific and explain what an actual knee jerk reaction was.
So I love how everyone is just waving a flag and saying "Hi I have no life and I have no intention on finding one either! Also I'm insecure! Don't tell anyone!" So instead of commenting MY knee-jerk reaction I just decided to do this: GOD, EVOLUTION, ABORTION, GAY MARRIAGE, BARACK OBAMA, HALO IS BETTER THAN CALL OF DUTY!
If you are a true ***** fan then you will get this.
YES HALO!
$uper Duh!!!!!!!
It's good and developing to discuss things tough. You know, have understandings for other peoples viewpoints. Don't always ignore when you don't agree, that will only leave you angry inside. Try to understand other people.
This totally speaks to what I've been feeling lately. I completely agree with you.
To be honest, when you brought up abortion, I didn't have a knee-jerk reaction, but when Kelli said that the thing was red, I did. I all of a sudden just got really defensive. Hmmm....nice example of how we get so worked up over things that don't matter!
I paused the video just to see how many impassioned angry comments there were
samre lol
heather c. Likewise.
This was actually a timely reminder; I'm writing a paper on a really controversial topic and I need to keep my tone and my motives compassionate.
Kelly's folder is the same colour & hue as Jordan's shirt! lol it's perfect
I brought up knee-jerk reactions in class the other day, after I had watched this video.
Yep, felt the reaction! Lol:-) great video!
1:15 Impassioned and angry com... Oh wait, I have more control over my mouth now than I did a year ago. Oh well, all that energy built up for nothing! So... justifiable and righteously angry comment, I guess! :)
That last pun reminded me of something my mom used to say.
Assuming makes an ass out of u and me
You have a good point. If it's just an opinion, there's no point in getting offended. However, if someone is actually trying to hurt others, like for example, screaming that a group of people is awful and deserves eternal hellfire, people definitely have a right to be upset and discuss the issue.
that joke at the end was so cheesy I had to laugh (thats a compliment)
Kelly's face when she said that Jordan was an idiot and that it is red hahahahaha
Ok, ok, without looking down at the comments, I'm willing to bet cold hard cash that they contain the following: #1 an abortion debate. #2 people having knee jerk reactions about people having knee jerk reactions. & #3 two dozen people saying they broke Jordan's record...
I find it people do this a lot when it comes to DC Comics vs. Marvel Comics lol
That was amazing! Love the message!
This video was great you guys! The editing was especially great! Keep up the great work!
I love messy Mondays lol
I also think people have Knee-Jerk reactions because attach the idea to their emotions and when someone states a different opinion, they feel like they themselves are being attacked, not just the idea.
"That's the sound of impassioned commenting on this video!
I feel like I could have a knee-jerk reaction to the "you and knee" pun at the end of the video.
When you mentioned both sides to abortion, why did I not have a knee-jerk reaction to either?
I think because we just know he's giving an example. I thought the same thing.
I guess it makes sense if you mean not to blow-up/get angry at people.
However, if someone believes in something evil like abortion, should we really be silent about it, or try to help them in a reasonable, loving way?
Isn't love to will the good of the beloved? You should try to help people and not just use this kind of thing as an excuse to be silent all the time. The worst that can happen is that you will learn something new yourself.
Hey, Jordan, I like your red shirt that you're wearing with that beige sweatshirt.
Knee-jerk reaction 3,2,1...
#itswhiteandgold #itsblueandblack welp they predicted it!
I thought this was going to be a video about when you go to the doctors and they hit your knee, and then it jerks.
OMG IT'S YOU AND ME NOT KNEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+The Camo He wasn't using the original saying, I hope you realize. You could be using sarcasm, and I can't tell. He was playing off of "When you assume things, you make an a** out of you and me."
What he said was "When you have a knee-jerk reaction, you make a jerk out of you and knee."
I actually thought it was pretty hilarious.
Yeah, Its sarcasm
Dude, I had that knee-jerk reaction XD He's telling the truth.
Kelli I love your hair! And I also love You've Got Mail!!!
Lol that awesome pun at the end XD
Whatever was in his eyebrows moved to his shoulders.
He is so right.
One time at lunch, one of my friends said that Harry Styles is ugly (in front of a table of directioners) and you could hear the screams from a mile away.
Bill O'reilly needs to watch this video
oh look, the comments are full of the topic of this video.
I would love to see you guys talk at Aquire The Fire! (if that tickled your fancies of course)
Don't talk to me before breakfast, and you'll be safe.
Also, I love Kelli's haircut! So cute :)
I agree that freaking out solves nothing accept alienation and a lost opportunity to discus the truth, but ignoring people and letting them go about believing whatever they want helps no one either. Kelli really should know that that is not red... poor girl, lol
I think this is his best video.
The REAL tolerance.
I totally agree with this. I have people in my life who do this for everything it's so annoying XP
I get knee jerk reactions when people take it to far when annoying me on purpose. When it gets to far, my brain shuts off and hides in a corner in my head because it doesn't know what's gonna come out of my pie hole, and what usually comes out of my pie hole is yelling at that person and every once and awhile trying to restrain myself from punching the person straight in the nose. So yeah, and I don't and anger management problems. :)
Hah I didn't have a knee-jerk reaction to either :P
hey, this made me think a lot, I really appreciated it. I wished I heard this long ago, it would have helped me a lot, I hope it does to others. (Sorry for my english) greetings from Buenos Aires!
I find the satirical context causes the example to not evoke the aforementioned Knee-Jerk, or maybe its because I'm an Australian.
this makes me feel good because I just had my first knee jerk reaction ever a little while ago
This video is connected to my explanation thread 9/20/22
1:43 pm central time (was interrupted by a really long 15 second ad)
whenever i get a knee-jerk reaction i get depressed because theres no one to scream at
I think it's our brain's reaction to the realisation that the way we think something works is possibly wrong.
Great way to demonstrate a very important realization! Also, Josh, it might just be me, but the audio seemed like a quarter second off. I know you're very good at what you do so you might need to check your system calibration or something. :)
I love his red shirt.
I was told not to be so defensive, Man, was I Offended! - John Reuben
I may be the calmest person here because I hardly ever have knee jerk reactions. I choose to try and see both sides. Example if someone said a blue card was red I'd think "Ok maybe she's just colorblind. Those people exist so I'll just let her have this."
everyone wants to have power and make everything the way they want
We live in a democracy where in theory people can effect policy. So when we encounter someone who holds a political view which we think is detrimental to society, that's not just something about which we should say, "It's ok because I know I'm right." There is room in life for debate and disagreement. But knee jerk reactions where you get angry and can no longer think reasonably is not ok.
I don't think I've ever had a knee jerk reaction, but I think I know what it is.
Impassioned and angry comments!!!
Underneath this video!!!!1!
He mentioned Captain America 2 at the beginning!
That countdown clock. XD
Oh, and that pun at the end.
Anybody see cut after cut Jordans hands getting more red and red XD!!!! #AskJordan
I've got that king of problem too. I hate that I've got a knee jerk reaction.
Oops meant to say kind of problem not king
Kelli reminds me a lot of Castle's daughter in Castle
3:38 I have the same shirt as him...
What about opinions that really matter? Should we still care and try to convince people? For example, what about Hitler or someone who had really WRONG ideas... what should we do then? What if the wrong idea that's held by someone is physically causing others to die/be in pain etc? Could our knee-jerk reaction then be actually useful? Because in my opinion, pretty much all of our 'defence mechanisms', although annoying at times, do serve a useful purpose in at least one type of situation. Just my thoughts.
gotta love Godwin's law.
wow... I didn't know that was an actual thing, just looked it up and it made me laugh. completely accidental comparison. Thanks mate!! ya learn something new every day :P
Yeaaaaaaaah, I tend to have many of those Knee-Jerk reactions. uwu Or sometimes it spills out.
