Getting your first job is really awkward because people make a weird face when you say that this is going to be your first job. It's stupid because how many jobs do people expect a 16 or 17 year old to have had? They have to start somewhere.

I haven't worked anywhere, but that sounds ridiculous. Are most teenagers even working?

Yes, you're expected to get a job around the time you turn 15. All of my friends either have a job or are looking for one.

***** Wow, I wish people were that nice around where I live. Almost every employer where I live wants you to have some sort of job experience before hiring you. It's a catch 22.

    • @juliadmorris

Yeah, I try to volunteer where I can. I do loads of stuff around my church, and help out with children's events, e.t.c. I almost got a job because the potential employer was impressed with all of my volunteer experience, but then somebody with job experience came around and he hired them instead.

I volunteer at the library, which isn't the same thing, of course, but it's gotten me interested in the profession :)

Exactly. Parents are the biggest offender with this. My parents just started charging me rent but they also demand I'm home by 10 every night. Look, if you're going to charge me rent, and make me buy half of my food, than it's no longer reasonable for you to try and give me a curfew.
Lol, sorry I needed to vent.

I have literally zero friends because I moved recently and because I'm introverted I've always had this small friend group; so that completely changed. And honestly, even introverted, its *_REALLY_* hard, and super lonely. Like , on my phone sitting alone at lunch just feels terrible. I don't understand how someone could _want_ to have zero friends.

Another thing I hate about being a teenager is that I am not allowed to complain about one small thing without adults instantly disregarding me as just another "edgy, moody, hormonal teenager". Honestly, it's like I can't have a bad day without the puberty card being thrown in my face by some angry adult.

    • @IsleNaK
      @IsleNaK 6 років тому +1

They just don't want to take responsibility for their own actions. If you have an argument and they throw the hormone card at you then they just don't want to face the fact that arguments are always caused by two parties ^^.
Quite the immature adults you have around you xD

Playing as the adult, I'd think they'd react to teenagers like that, because they don't have time to think twice of their reactions with the limited free time they have (with work, family tine, etc.) and instead generalize teenagers

I didn't go toy senior prom because I don't know a girl that I wanted to ask, I don't like dancing in a room full of people who are grinding all over each other, and I had better things to do with my money. Everybody at school today said they hated it on Saturday.

I didn't need a date to enjoy my senior prom I went with friends and had a blast and all I had to pay for was a ticket which was like 50$ and a dress for 30$. I didn't want to go til 3 weeks before and I'm glad I changed my mind because looking back on it 3 years later it was the second best night of my high school days next to graduation. It's sad that so many people think you need a date to have fun at prom or in general, and that you have to spend a bunch of money as well when you don't.

I'm a senior, graduating in June, and I've never been to a prom, never had hardly a friend, much less a girlfriend... and I gotta say, sometimes my life looks so much better compared to others, when you put it in the ways that you guys did. The nice thing about staying farther away from people is that less drama happens. Sure it can get lonely but, hey! God is never far away when I need him.
I do agree with the whole expectations thing. The number one question asked to me: "So what do you plan on doing next? You have any colleges picked out?" (Okay, that was two. :P) Seriously, why do people think you have a college picked out. I'm interested in computer science, preferably programming, and so I really want to go to college for that, but darnit I don't have a clue about anything past high school! I will admit, though, that's probably my favorite thing about high school, how you know what's expected of you. I mean, you take required classes, maybe some electives, but other than that it's all planned out for you.
As for awkwardness, I find that if you're the one who made it awkward, then you're the one with the one-up. If you choose to make it awkward, or it just so happened to fall that way, you can rest easy and make the situation not awkward for you by making it even more awkward. At least, that's what I find. ;)
Anyway, if you made it to this point, gg. You know a bunch of pointless information about me, expressed via a way-too-long UA-cam comment! Now continue your comments reading. :) #introvertsunite

My friend introduced me to your channel somewhat recently, and I just want to comment to say thank you, whether you see this comment or not. I have had a rough week and I've been praying and reading the bible, but I really appreciate this channel because a lot of the time, I wind up using social media as an outlet. And it's really difficult as a Christian in this day and age to find something funny and lighthearted to watch which also doesn't have some sort of material that makes you feel a little off spiritually. Although, a lot of the videos are sarcastic, I still feel safe coming to this channel. And it really brightened my day today. It gives me hope that there are youtubers out there who can still come up with comical material still with certain moral overtones. Just thank you. Because when you watch certain things, it may be funny and make you forget troubles for a while, but it can also cloud the mind and make you forget to leave everything at the feet of Jesus in prayer.

But now, my parents are like, "You need to send in your application because it is very likely that they won't pick you... at least not right away, so you'll probably still have lots of time to yourself." And I'm JUST now starting to get back to doing things with my brother! Sure, it is playing Halo: Reach, and watching Red vs Blue, but it's something we're finally doing together! I'M SCARED!

ok dont have friends so thats not a problems home schooled so never have gone to a prom or dance or date but the one thing you left out is when you say you hate being a teenager every one who is to old to remember what being a teen is like tells you that when you are their age that you will wish you are a teenager again.. that is truly the worst oh and also when adults treat you like your the stupidest thing on earth because you haven't been alive long enough to prefect the art of making mistakes and then learning from them thats pretty bad to. NEWS FLASH not all teenagers are as dumb as a rock.

They hated her and thought she was a stalker and well...that took its toll on me. Now my second friend and I don't hang out AT ALL & rarely text and my other friends and I text each other everyday. I think the worst thing about being a teenager, is how everyone tries to be part of the "pack" and everyone is copying the popular ones for no reason. There is a girl in my class, who I am kinda friends with (not very vrey close friends, 'cause I have known her for about a month maybe?) and on one of the P.E. classes, she bounced a ball past one of the popular girls who was lying on the floor. The popular girl took this as an insult. My kinda-friend didn't come to school the next day, because she was ill. She was away for about a week. But during that time, she became hated by the whole f*cking class! That's 40 people, who barely even know anything about her. And every second of the day kids walked up to me and asked: "What do you think about that stupid _______?" "Why do you hang out with ______?" etc. I really felt bad for her. Then she returned and everyone was very cold towards her, and she didn't know why (and most of the children didn't know why they were acting that way either). Since then the misunderstanding has been resolved, luckily. But I wonder what is being said about me now. Since I am a little ill... I wonder if everyone thinks I am sitting in prison for killing an infant.
Oh, and also, I don't get how being popular works. I mean, the popular girls in my class are most of the time the stupidest, ugliest and the meanest. And it's not true that rich kids get to be popular... these ones aren't rich.

I can't even begin to say how accurate number 6 is. I'm a sophomore in college and I remember my freshmen year, meeting with my counselor and she asks me "so what do you see yourself doing in a few years?" I just blanked stared at her. I was fucking fourteen. I was lucky enough to know what wanted to eat for lunch at six in the morning. Then we get into the mess that Junior year of high school brings, thinking of college apps and the beginning of college visits. At this time there were a few things I was sure of. 1. I hated math. 2. English and History seemed to be the only things I was good at. 3. Always pack your own lunch. 4. That I hated pretty much everyone in my graduating class. That's enough to be sure on when you're almost 17 years old. So again, I meet with my counselor again and she asks the same question, and of course I still didn't know. I wanted to do this, but I kinda wanted to do that. I haven't even spent two decades on this planet and you expect me to know what I want to do for the rest of my time here? I don't think it was until a month before I was to move into college that I had a general idea of what I want to do, and so far I'm holding true, but it still could change.

Lol you need to try some natural remedies (which are actually way more effective) Your gut health, diet, and amount of exercise has a large impact. I take a supplement called UP4 which helps keep my gut healthy and it's been helping A LOT. Also try bentonite clay for your face. Honey is also good for acne. I would rub some on every night and wash it off after about 20 mins and that should help. Good luck and remember usually the root cause of acne is something on the inside, not anything you're doing on the outside. What you put in your body affects your body more than most people realize.

um... Why it's worst to be an adult
    Teen vs. Adult
Friend Dynamics vs. What Friends (they've all moved away and now all you do is work, eat, clean, sleep)
Prom vs. What social events (please appreciate the social events you get to partake in in college and high school because there are a lot fewer of those later in life)
Drama vs. Drama at work (same as school drama except now you can get fired)
Acne vs. Deteriorating health (just a fact)
Dating vs. Online dating (in school you have a large group of people but if you haven't found the one by the time you are out of school your resources have dwindled.
Expectations vs. Disappointment (yes expectations are stressful but disappointment is depressing).
Awkwardness vs. Loneliness (even awkward teens have a social group but awkward adults... good luck)

Wow, none of this has to do with me... even though I'm turning 17 in 2 months... Well, let me make sure:
1: All my friends are pretty simple... all guy school ya know...
2: Grad (or Prom as its known abroad) I never really cared. Besides, the idea of a date was only an option here so its not really complicated, just another hang out
3: Guys school... no drama... maybe an argument ever now and then, but nothing that stays.
4: Always had clear skin, so much I'm actually worried
5: Its easy to say I don't want or need a girlfriend proudly Even saying "I've never kiss a girl" in public is easy. That's just kinda how things here are.
6: If you don't know, become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer
7: I've been clueless for as long as I can remember so I never know if awkward moments are awkward so I never feel awkward.
    Yup, my life sucks...

"If you don't know, become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer" What!? Wait, hmm… huh, that kinda is what people do, isn't it...
But it's not that easy! If you haphazardly pick something, you'll probably regret it later. Besides, if you didn't want to be any of those 3 things, why make it harder to get into college by claiming you want to major in those things?
Sigh… I am still deciding. Don't know yet and next year's senior year for me. So far everything I might pick I either suck at or don't like or both. :/ Expectations…

Prom sucked at my high school. I went in 11th grade, but not in 12th, and senior prom is supposedly more significant than junior prom for some reason. It wouldn't have been worth the $30.
Also, I was blessed with good skin. I've never had acne. Well, I've had a zit here and there, and I got blackheads every so often, but never more than one at a time.
I did 'date' in high school, and take it from me: It's not worth it. It's very much not worth it.
