- Cassava was something I ate a lot growing up. We always cooked a lot and had lots of leftovers to fry. Everyone in my family looked forward to fried cassava for a snack the next day.
⬇️⬇️⬇️ RECIPE BELOW ⬇️⬇️⬇️
👩🏻🍳 FRIED CASSAVA
Cooking Directions: Peel cassava. Put enough water in pot to cover cassava. Bring to a boil. Add salt to taste. Reduce heat to medium, cover and let boil 10 minutes or until tender. Cool completely before frying. Slice cassava in 4 lengthwise pieces and discard stringy center piece. Fry in electric fryer set at 375F or 190C for 5 minutes. If you are frying on the stove top double the frying time.

Do you have to remove the hard part in the middle before boiling??
No you don't.
Wow!
I still do the same thing
@@kiki16805 it's easier to remove it after you boiled it
I watched this an hour ago and now I'm enjoying my first cassava fries! What a delight! Thank you, Shirani!
You are so welcome 😊. Cassava fries are the best❣
Same with me, my cassava is also boiling in fire currently, though this is my first time.
My abuela recently passed... she made the most amazing food. I will be making these and many other of her signature foods for family, thank you for the video ❤️
You are very welcome Bria! So sorry to hear about your Abuela. She would be very proud to know you are going to carry on and make her signature dishes. Sending lots of love and good luck to you in the kitchen 🙏❤.
Sorry for your loss
This was one of my childhood snacks. Watching this gave me so much nostalgia helping my mom cook dinner and those would be our little treat before the big dinner she always prepares for us ❤ 🇲🇽🇵🇪
Aww, such sweet memories. I love hearing that 😊❤️
Right music to this vegan guide ;-) I like it.
Thank you❣
This is absolutely my fav, forget fries. I buy whenever the spot i get carne asada have but since its so easy to make I'll do it myself after this. 😊
My fav too 😊. If you can get frozen cassava that's even better. No need to peel anything and they are always good.
I made these tonight. I had to boil the Yuca for about 15 minutes and it still probably could have been boiled a bit more as it was a bit too tough when fried. But they were good! Next time, I will boil a bit longer.
Yes sometimes you have to boil them longer. I always test it to make sure it's tender before I take them out of the pot. Btw fried cassava is also really good with soup 😊😋.
In Indonesia, we put it to ice seasoned water for about 15 minutes. Immediately after we boil/steam the cassava. So the outer side can be crispy with melting cassava inside. The keyword for this recipe is "singkong goreng merekah".
I'll have to try that, thank you! 😊
When do you add the ice?
Thank you for sharing this i have some frozen cassava and needed to know how to fry them. What I really appreciate is that you left the recipe to be seen and there was no need to go to another website just to see this. I am going to try this now.
You are very welcome and thank you too. I'm glad this is helpful to you. Hope you enjoy 😊
I've never eaten fried cassava. Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely try this one. Another great video! Keep them coming.
Thank you! Girl you are missing out, you have to try it! 😊
Addictive! Crazy scrumptios! Crunchy and chewy. Just yum.

@@CookingwithShirani You're welcome
You need Huancaina sauce to go with the Yucas the look awesome........
Thank you! I've never heard of that sauce before. I'll have to look it up.
this is a fabulous tutorial! thank you so much! I LOVE fried cassava, and always wanted to try it myself. I'm hoping I don't screw it up! lol what kind of oil did you use in the fryer?
one other thing...I don't have a fancy fryer machine. If I do this stovetop, what temperature should the oil be, and how do I know when it's done?
You are very welcome Darcie and thank you so much as well. I love, love fried cassava also. This one is hard to scew up so you don't have anything to worry about lol. I always use canola oil when frying. In the deep fryer I put the temperature on 375 F but on the stove top you'll want to fry it between medium and medium high heat. I don't know what the exact temperature is on the stove top because I never check it. One thing though it does take longer to fry on the stove so you'll just have to keep turning it into until all sides are brown. Good luck 😊❤
Wooo yummy I love it the casava
Me too!!
I’m gonna try it soon👌🏾
Enjoy!
Looking great an nice an i wold eat 2 of them bfroe going to bed
I would eat that anytime too 😁
A potato peeler works fine to remove skin. Don't over fry, for you can break a tooth.
Put garlic and salt before frying will be nice
In indonesia we called it "pohong keju"
Cool,my mom has cassava farm in our garden
Oh nice, I grew up with cassava too 😊
@@CookingwithShirani cassava was the first thing that i deep fried, turn out pretty well and it was suprisingly crispy too

That looks great. I always ate boiled cassava. Now I am going to try deep frying it. Does boiling without salt speed up the process? What oil have you used for frying?
Thank you! I used vegetable oil for frying. I'm not sure if boiling it without salt would speed up the process. I always boil it with salt. Hope you get to make some soon. You are going to love it 😊
looks delish!would this also work in an air fryer?
Thanks! I have never used an air fryer before so I can't say for sure. If you try it let me know.
Cooking with Shirani will do! thankyou
Yes it can
Have you tried the air fryer? That was my question also.
Can I boil it and wait until kids are home to fry it please
Yes you can. You can boil it anytime and keep in the fridge. You just want to make sure it's cooked before frying it.
This is to a Nigerian recipe but in Nigeria we boil cassava in coconut milk.
That's interesting, I'll have to try that.
Hear nah. It does taste soooo good 🤣

Can you oven bake them trying to stay away from fried foods
You know I've never tried that but I'm sure you could.
@@CookingwithShirani thank you so much
Wrong. You boiled first with cumin, turmeric, coriander seeds, and bay leaves. Then you have to shock on the ice bath along then fried
