    Still have my father’s Minox camera from back in the 70s, before he passed away. I remember him taking beautiful photos when I was growing up. Cherish those memories. Thanks for explaining how to use it. Aloha.

      Thank you for sharing the memory of your fathers use of his Minox, it's great you still have it in the family. If you are in America you can get film from a company called Blue Moon.

    I've owned and used several Minox subminiature cameras over the years. I sold them, when mobile phone cameras became ubiquitous. I enjoy your videos, so please upload some more.

    Haven't the capacity for securing one of these, and certain they are prized by collectors, but my queries evolve about the ability to find film stocks for other 16mm cameras of this era, or is motion picture stock suitable for use in these very small pocket carries? Curious I am, in that cinematic films have some traits which appeal much to my own artistic concerns? My thanks.

    • @mostlyvintagecameras4323
      @mostlyvintagecameras4323  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Murray,
      Thank you for your comments. The Minox is 9.5mm rather than 16mm so 110 film and 16mm cine stock are out of the question. However, if you are looking at 16mm cameras both 110 film and cine film can be spooled onto the 16mm reels. The limiting factor is finding old film spools to start with. I have a film siltier which neatly cuts a 35mm film into one strip of 16mm gauge film and one for Minox. With this I one can cut down any 35mm stock including 500T or Cinestill should you wish.
      For Minox cameras Blue Moon in the US and Canada can supply ready to use films or in the UK M S Hobbies can supply. They may also be able to help with 16mm stock.
      Kind regards

      Hello Erikquest,
      Thank you for your message.
      You need to push the chain in and twist to release it then the camera should come out.

      Thank you for your comments and question. In short no battery, no camera. The best battery is generally the Golden Power brand fo PX27 silver oxide.

    I always wondered how useful these actually were as spy cameras. Between the fixed aperture and tiny neg, could you really read fine print on classified documents?

    • @mostlyvintagecameras4323
      @mostlyvintagecameras4323  Рік тому

      Hello Dane M,
      Thank you for your comment. I understand your point however there is a rich and illustrious(?) history of patriots and traitors from all sides using these cameras for espionage. It was also featured on a BBC TV programme "Churchill's secret agents" where people had to enter a room photograph a document and exit within a minute or two. The test being if the photo was sharp and readable. These camera have also been used to photograph test in books in libraries which did not have copying features. The first of these cameras in the UK were purchased by embassies which might tell us something.
      Of course you could get yourself one and spend a day being Bond and trying it out!

    • @mostlyvintagecameras4323
      @mostlyvintagecameras4323  2 роки тому

      Hello F C, Thank you for your comments. Removing the chain to release the case can be tricky at first. You have to push the chain in at the edge of the case and turn it about a quarter turn. A number of Minox accessories attach in a similar way,

    Once the film is loaded and advanced a few frames, can you still open and remove film?

    • @mostlyvintagecameras4323
      @mostlyvintagecameras4323  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Poppy Nogood, great name by the way! Thank you for your comment. In short No you canon remove the film or open the camera while loaded as you would risk light leak certainly on the last couple of frames you shot and if reloaded the next couple. If you want to develop the film early then yes, you can take a few blank frames and then remove and develop the film. Only APS, DISK and possibly the old Adox 300 could be removed and then put back latter, for example to swap an APS black and white film for a colour one and back.
