ShartimusPrime Biography:
Inspired by watching boring Transformers action figure reviews, the ShartimusPrime youtube channel was launched in 2008. Engaging the audience with an edgy sense of humor for adult collectors, action figure collecting has never been this fun, and videos are posted daily! Unexpectedly, the channel became more popular for Marvel Legends reviews and Spider-Man, Avengers, and X-Men collection display videos. After a few years, the channel has branched out to review other figure properties aside from Marvel Legends and G1 Transformers Masterpiece. Hot Toys, Star Wars, Diamond Select Toys, DC Collectibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead toy lines have all been added to the roster of nearly 2,000 video reviews. Japanese import figures from SH Figuarts, Bandai, Figma, Square Enix, and Medicom MAFEX have been favorites as well. More recently, Kotobukiya Statues (including the very sexy Bishoujo line) and NECA Toys have become more prevalent on the channel. Being a big fan of movies such as Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, Aliens, and other films has lead the channel in the direction of also reviewing movies, movie trailers, blu ray releases, and tv shows. News updates for 2016 releases and beyond are also posted. Audience engagement is a big part of this channel, with giveaways and fan mail being read publicly once a week in the PO Box Pick-Up videos. Impressive “Shart-Art” is shared via social media and included in the opening theme song. The audience is also kept up to date with any changes to the channel, along with recent comic book pick-ups, unboxings, and action figure hauls. Stop-motion segments punishing the popular meme of the Big Time Let Down Spider-Man close most of the comparison segments, and are compiled together for guaranteed access to patrons. Lastly, all figure reviews close with a slideshow featuring dynamic poses of the figure inspired by ACBA, with the added bonus of music performed and recorded by ShartimusPrime himself.

I've always thought this suit was a visually-pleasing design. It's controversial among Spidey fans because of the story from which it came, but it makes a wonderful figure.
Totally agree. Tasm had my favorite movie suit, which I believe was partially based on this suit.

I agree, although I MUCH prefer the design when the logos match the secondary color of the suit. When they match, the logos bleed into the rest of the suit so that it sort of flows better, you know? When they don't match (black logos with blue everywhere else), the torso tends to look like a box, ESPECIALLY if the shoulders aren't broad enough.
I tried doing a black w/ blue highlights over the original ML figure, as well as metallic blue everywhere on the mafex one. WAY better imo

This is great for $20, especially for anyone wanting to just fill in a spot in a Spiderverse display and missed out on the original release.
But this does not compare at all to the MAFEX, and if there any Big Ben Reilly fans I’m sure that’s the version they’d get

Original release? This is the 5th legends scale Ben Reilly Spider-man, hell Hasbro did one really early on into their first attempt at Marvel Legends labled Scarlet Spider.

i never cared for the actual story of The Clone Saga... but I loved Ben Reilly and I LOVE this costume. it's honestly my favorite Spider-Man costume.
Super excited to get this guy, man. I also hope they make a Ben Reilly of his current Spider-Man costume in the Spider-Man: Beyond story. That costume might my favorite because it feels like a nice combination of this Spider-Man costume and Peter's costume

I loved Ben Reilly. And it did turn out he was the clone after all.
Only because of fan backlash. They really did want to reset the status quo. Peter was successful and married to a model by then. Ben Reilly was going to be a "back to basics".
What REALLY pissed people off was that Aunt May died thinking a clone was her nephew!

You should try to find one on eBay or Mercari. You would get it sooner. Might have to pay a little more

I was going back and forth if I wanted to get this figure or not and having watched your review, I think I might pass. The lack of a Riley head and the smaller eyes just ruin it. I'm glad they did the smaller eyes for the regular Spider-Man since that was more accurate to his older looks, but Riley had the bigger eyes. I do like the blue better though...

Completely agree about the eyes, excited for this figure regardless but I always picture Ben with bigger eyes, and I wish it came with a unmasked head.
It's based on the cartoon so it cant be anymore accurate.

Both Ben Riley and Marvel legends Web Man... Does it for me shartimus , they are a great starter spider man . figures for anyone to have for the first time collectiing . Marvel legends or DC or anything action figures . looking for to picking this one up as my next spider man figure . already got my web man . And retro marvel legends Punisher .. 👍 this would be a great addition to my new collection.. great reviews thank you .I like to see a review of the new DC Frost King Batman . This figure looks great! But i will say i am slightly disappointed with the eyes, they could've given us bigger eyes than that. Good figure aside from that though and great review from you as always Shartimus!

I definitely agree with you, the head sculpt should be the version of Mark Bagley.. I'm huge 90's/early 2000s Spidey , I see him in that iteration as I grow up. I still prefer the Absorbing man wave in terms of Aesthetics...but, an updated body articulation is needed.

The Amazing Spiderman 2012 is based on this suit, you can use pizza Spidey head sculpt fits right, that one is like mark Bagley

Good review the only problem I have with legends spider-man figures is that they could at the very least give us some more accessories because most of the time it's a reused body and the current body is perfect (well they could update it for pinless joints) they could at least give us the three sets of hands and an alternate unmasked head the hands have been reused so many times that they probably don't cost much anymore and the excuse of packaging costing a lot is a load of bologna because they've been doing it for 6 years it would just be nice if we got a bit more because while I love these figures it's starting to get ridiculous

Sorry to say, but in my opinion if Ben Reilly had taken over as Spider-man we probably would have been spared one more day. I sometimes dream of that universe, it's nice, Peter and Mary Janes daughter is in high school and Ben is still kicking it as Spider-man. Ah well we can only dream.

What’s so bad about the clone saga? It’s my favourite comic line of all time
I've read three of the four omnibuses so far and it is hands down some of the most atrocious writing I have ever read in comic history. It goes right up there with Bendis' run of X-Men, Adams' Batman Odyssey, and the New 52 run of Superman. The artwork is horrid 90% of the time as if they let a 10 year old draw the books, the stories feel like they were single issue tales stretched out to 4 parters, half of the plots make no sense or are an absolute bore, and it keeps bringing back Peter Parker. Like okay, he gave up his powers, his story is done. MJ is about to have a baby, move on. Let Ben be on his own without Peter showing up every few issues. The new Green Goblin is really bad too.

Nope, I don't bother with individual comics anymore. I either take out paperbacks from my local library (which I have been doing with X-Men Dawn of X currently) or I only read omnibuses, mostly Silver Age and Bronze Age stuff.
DC ruined modern stories for me with their New 52 bullshit.

It always goes back to normal when they change things like that. (Edit: we don’t actually know who’s replacing them, most likely their protégés and what not) And quit lying about shit. Barry Allen lost his legs in a recent story in an attack by Trickster and Cold. That’s all. Research.

The outcome of the clone saga wasn’t Ben Reilly being the real Peter all along. That was like a mid way twist, but it ended up being false. He turns to dust at the end. The reveal was that Norman was behind it the entire time.
Well, yeah, sure in retrospect it's halfway, but at that time how was I supposed to know they were gonna change it again? Also, the way I saw it at that time, is that too many people were upset by the change and then changed him back. That's what my 12 year head was thinking at the time.
I recently got my hands on symbiote and ben reilly
Barely got mines on the target site last night. They stealthily put it out available for shipping last night and I only found out because a Reddit post. Only lasted 15 minutes for it to be out of stock. Target is scummy for that. It's so hard hunting for marvel legends in California. You will very rarely see spiderman and avengers figures out in the wild. It's completely random. Cali gets it in small stocks. Always 2-6 in stock. The other problem is almost everyone working in the toy department is collector so it makes it very difficult.
