Rajamouli is honest and is not pretending to be this self proclaimed cinephile judging public and epic genre. The movies he picked defined the decades. He’s not trying to impress anybody and like he said in other interview that he’s a fan of scenes rather than movies. His conviction and vision are unparalleled which makes him so Unique 🙌

    • @youtubeviolatedme7123
      @youtubeviolatedme7123 Рік тому +8

I think it is his conviction alone that distinguishes him as a director. His vision, inspired by movies with mass appeal, is shared by many amateur and professional directors. His vision is not unique... BUT his conviction to be unashamed of what he loves is splashed all over the screens of every movie he has a hand in making, and that conviction is almost completely unmatched by any other director in the world. While I don't know what people will think of Rajamouli decades from now, I am certain they will recognize his impact on contemporary Indian cinema.

@@youtubeviolatedme7123 I think he does have a very Unique vision. Amateur and professional directors definitely are inspired by these mass movies. Also every story that we see are always borrowed and there’s nothing that we can call unique. A story can be made into an Indie or Main stream movie but the difference is the treatment. Rajamouli has this unique perspective and vision on an idea that he wants to deliver. Making a movie with a fly is an idea many have but making it in a way that appeals to all sections of audience and critics is something that sets him apart. His movies and concepts he tries to explore are very dark if you take away the Shine on it from Studnet no.1 to RRR - there are these ideas that he delivers with no hesitation and without making audience repelled by it. Definitely his conviction is unparalleled but his vision is never to be overlooked. To conceive certain scenes and to deliver it needs vision.
      -
I think he's not going anywhere. With Baahubali he changed Indian cinema and with RRR he took Indian cinema global. With 100% success ratio. And I think if anyone in the future can make a Billion dollar grossing movie from India - it will be him. Already his next movie is in talks to be distributed by a Hollywood studio. He’s in CAA and his name is talk of the town.

And now, this stupid old lady who thinks she is a great actor, Ms. Ratna Pathak Shah, has blabbered about RRR. She is supportive of Pathaan, but for her RRR is regressive. Why? Because, it takes elements from Indian history and folklore? Why is Bollywood so against anything that's Indian? I'm 100% sure she hasn't even watched the movie and assumed things. SSR has the right to choose whatever the f he wants for his Top 10 favourite films - it's his list afterall. His simplicity & genuineness is what won hearts. And btw this just a phase in every filmmakers life. Other filmmakers were equally celebrated when it was their time.

Many say that Bahubali’s storyline is straight up lion king. Yes it’s true. But for me the first thought was story of Sri Krishna. It’s got the same story, evil uncle…a parent figure crossing the river with the child above the water, adoptive mother, Krishna/Bahubali recognising his roots, freeing his mother/parents from the hands of his evil uncle and killing the evil uncle. It was krishna Bhagavatham for me at first. Then the lion king story line also came up. One can say lion king is inspired from Krishna bhagavatam. But that’s not the point, the prodigal son returns is a storyline that is as old as time.

They really made a whole meaning for "Over the Top" but During the interval when Bheem says "Anna en kanna paathu pesuna" to Ram.. Man i really felt that. That is what sets Rajamouli apart from other filmmakers. In fact what i have observed is that his movies are very dark underneath from Student no.1 to RRR. His movies like Vikramarkudu and Chhtrapati, Maryada ramanna handle subjects that are very arthouse but Rajamouli delivers those subjects for masses without making it disinteresting or repelling with right amount of entertainment. Not just India but Hollywood Studio movies are also suffering from the same phenomenon of only having big Vfx fest with ignored plot and charater development. That is the reason why RRR is successful in the west as well because it keep plot and character development & emotion at the core of presentation.

Genuinely, speaking I like honesty of SS Rajamouli, he is honest to himself, His favourite Director is Mel Gibson, so he had two movies from him in list, Kung fu panda is one of the greatest animated movie of all time for me also, it is deep and highly entertaining, Forest Gump is great film about Hope, Maya bazaar is cult classic and is one of the greatest Indian movie of all time, for its innovation, Also Indiana Jones Raiders of the ark is great and Steven Spielberg masterpiece, I think This film will be SS Rajamouli's inspiration for his next Globe trotting Action adventure with Mahesh Babu, Seriously some people are hating his list for no reason, Is it necessary that everyone should only like Art films with depressed atmosphere...
Art is subjective and is personal to individual, I like SS Rajamouli films a lot that doesn't mean everyone should like it ...
SS Rajamouli is honest makes him my favourite Director of Indian Cinema currently...🙏🙏🙌🇮🇳

Rajamouli did movies for Indian audience, esp. Telugu. He wasn't directing for other than that region. Telugu people are formula driven than content driven for many decades from 1970 to 2000. It made Telugu film industry a glamour world. Rajamouli used it brilliantly in his initial career to capture market. Later, he focused on enhancing his wings in different fields of crafts like indulging in vfx, animation etc. Step by step he made progress from Magadheera to RRR. He had his drawbacks too. He once said his weakest script work was Yamadonga. But, it was hit as well.

You may have seen many period dramas but bahubali still stand out. Because it's period masala and that's make it different. In bahubali 2 you literally have almost every genre from romance, action, emotional, suspense, socio-politics, revenge, thrill, comedy to drama actually huge drama and that to with oscillating Bgms and visuals in tight budget. Damn it's not easy to do it. Only Indians can do it. I bet even Hollywood can't mix up that much genres.

I have loved RRR and my own brother laughed at it and made fun of it because he thinks most Southern India cinema is OTT. I don’t agree with him but he’s entitled to his opinion. He obviously takes pride in knowing more American filmmakers, business tycoons and stand-up comedians. I jokingly call him a “wannabe American”. I am a true movie buff so I enjoy ‘Schindler’s List’ the same way I enjoy ‘ Hera Pheri’. I am as intrigued by Akira Kurosawa as I am by SSR and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Some days I enjoy a Daniel Day-Lewis film and some days I enjoy a Govinda’s masala comedy ‘ Deewana Mastana’. I enjoy realistic and brutal French films as well as larger than life Indian blockbusters.
The variety in SSR’s list shows where his inspirations come from and how he is captivated by the different styles of storytelling, treatment and emotions. He makes movies for the masses and there is nothing wrong in that. I got goosebumps when I watched RRR trailer. He knows his “method” of storytelling works and he knows his audiences too well. He has repeated in many interviews that he writes/ creates scenes in head keeping the audiences’ reaction in mind. He is not someone making movies to please the critics, he makes movies for his audiences. His honesty reflects in his work.
I hate snobs who judge others or look down upon others for the kind of movies they like. I have many such people around me who are movie snobs. I just shrug and move on with my life as I don’t like to be put in a box or forced to like only “intelligent cinema” according to them. People are obviously jealous of SSR. Those people have not achieved anything in their life.
P.S. The Lion King, Forrest Gump, Braveheart and Kung-Fu Panda are some of my favourites too!

Exactly, there maybe films with great technical aspects of whatever. But there are films that we love for some personal reason.

It's funny when I see people who has absolutely no idea about Rajamouli's work since day 1 criticise him for such silly things. I am from Telugu states and our generation, millennials grew up watching his films and following him very closely. No other director in our Tollywood has ever been able to connect with the audience better than him. There's a word we use commonly use called "Audience's pulse" and SSR knows how to play with that pulse. No matter what genre it is, he understood the most basic quality in a movie that the viewers expect - Emotional connect, newness in visuals, adrenaline rush.
He may be doing mass masala films like his first movie Student No1, Simhadri and now RRR; but he know exactly how to mix Masala with Emotions and he is unmatchable at that. These critics who criticise any film maker doesn't understand one basic thing about Art - "When a user is paying to look at your art, he must feel complete, satisfied and worth the money.", no matter what kind of art is let alone what kind of genre.

If u look at first few films of SS Rajamouli and his last 4 Films.... One can make out the gigantic leaps and bounds of improvement in his filmmaking craft!! we hardly see somebody that improve upon their craft by such bounds... most filmmakers like Mani Ratnam, Shankar, or a Hirani etc.. hav all started out with a banger of films... and some couldnt sustain through decades of changing cinema landscape and some just stayed that way!! if u see shankar's best work is in 90s and early 2000s same goes for Mani Ratnam and dont' even talk abt the likes of RGV!! BUT here is a man who has improved by leaps and bounds with each of his films. His next wl be watched all over the world a first for an Indian Film.

I know this man one day will create great impact of his movies to world cinema for me movie is not itself an art its an entertainment in terms of action, songs, dance comedy, emotions,VFX,story telling, love what not the list goes on. He will make audience go crazy in theatres the best example where in RRR Interval scens when NTR jumps from the truck the audience went to crazy level in a theater this is what majority of movie lover's expecting from the whole Indian film industry for us SSR Is more than an director he is an emotion. Proud to be a fan of SSR.... Waiting for his upcoming movies to show the power of Indian films to the world cinema......💪👏👌🤲

To be honest brother Rajamouli make masala movies because we south Indian people loves masala genre movies where they fully enjoy and dance in theaters. So Rajamouli was perfectly aware of this tendency and he can't go opposite of that as producer's money are at stake. That doesn't make him like he can't love simple movies. Even I love simple storytelling movies but I still watch my south movies because it has got everything like dance ,songs, emotions, comedy ,action, revenge that's the reason its called masala. You won't believe this that RRR is his first non masala movie where story just flow like a river with every scene. There might be some over the top scene but still it will not be consider masala as compared to his other movies. Rajamouli fully deserved this appreciation as he has got that vision which Indians were waiting to have such kind of movies.

Why so much hate on SSR I didn't know
No director can survive if he creates boundaries like I will not do mass films etc.
Because obviously money matters in every industry including the film industry.
What if some one said that I will do the work for art or for satisfaction but not for the money ....!we call him fool right,
So it has to be both art and commercial elements to survive, which SSR doing perfectly.
We have many film makers like bhansali , Raj Kumar Hirani etc what if they couldn't deliver good movies (interms of commercial point of view) no producer dare to go them.
It happens to many legendary directors of Indian cinema.
So he is perfectly balancing both. Eega is a example of his artistic work. In one of the interview he said that" I collected all types of flys to observe and talk to many VFX teams and reshoots entire schedule " .
This is done because he wants to give the audiance the best experience.
So stop judging him let's celebrate for his success.
