I bought mine in 2011. After using bulky 4/3s DSLRs the E-PL3 finally fulfilled the 4/3's promise of small sensor = compact camera. I have never felt comfortable pointing a camera at a stranger, and when the subject is aware of the camera the composition is different. I usually shoot waist level. The tiny camera with its tilt screen is essential. To compensate for the E-PL3's limitations I finally bought a big boy camera with a real viewfinder , flippy screen, 20MP and built in mic jack. (Lumix GX8). I couldn't have made the decision without my beloved E-PL3 for my favorite style of photography. BTW I have a hot-shoe mounted mic jack. There in nothing like it available for the Olympus PEN F, hence my switch to Lumix.
That is a great comment, and the E-PL3 is a good intro into Micro Four Thirds as you have proved. Lumix and Olympus have cameras to suit everyone. I know what you mean about shooting at hip level, because it is daunting doing street photography. Thanks a lot for your comment and happy shooting with your GX8.👍
I was lucky enough to pick up one of these for peanuts not long before covid hit. At the time, these cameras seemed to have gone out of fashion. I wanted an easy camera to carry around instead of my Nikon full frame. After trying a series of small cameras with the awful 1/2.3" sensor size, the E-PL3 was a revelation. Five years later and my Nikon gear is largely gone, replaced by the E-PL3 and the EM-1 Mk2.
Wow, that's a great story, and micro four thirds is not for everyone, but it suits me too. Thanks a lot for watching and for taking your time to leave a comment 👍
Got a like new silver one with flash from Amazon today. Only cost $82. Nice small setup with the 14-42mm EZ zoom I put on it. Nice seeing a recent review on this old gem.
@@anisolo07 I had a quick search and in the UK I can't see an E-PL3 at that price, looks like it was an awesome deal. I am surprised at how much camera gear has gone up!
@@MyPhotoJourney Thank You so much for your prompt reply. I guess all your amazing reviews are generating tremendous interest in older cameras...hehe..Thanks again. Pocket rocket! will be dreaming of it!!
I have E-PL3. I don't like its ISO performance. Relatively it gives bad photos even at 200 ISO which is the lowest ISO. And it has average picture quality. I have also Olympus E-PM2. It is a little bit better than E-PL3.
I've sold the EPL-3 because I couldn't justify having that and the EPL-5, and when I had it I used manual and changed the settings to suit the image. Thanks for watching and for your question. 👍👍
This one looks so fresh and light! I really bought one!
Thanks for watching. Yeah, I like it too 👍

I have one of these and I am super happy with it. Great video. I have seen a few of your videos and I like their hands-on, yet relaxed style.
That's cool, thanks very much, and I'm still learning and trying to improve my videoing. I like this camera too, cheers 👍👍

Great review, MPJ.
Best of luck with the channel.
Subbed!
Thanks very much for your comment and great encouragement, and cheers for the sub 👍👍
Ngl I feel like this video is more about bluebells than it is the camera itself
Yeah I know what you mean, and not very good bluebells, thanks for watching 👍
Great video and nice photos..
Thanks very much for watching and your nice comment 😊
To anyone watching this wanting a compact lens - check out the ttartisan 25mm f2 - cheap and extremely well reviewed
Thanks for watching and for your lens advice, cheers 👍
I think manual focusing on that camera is a little tricky, so I use it with olympus 17/2.8 and panasonic 25/1.7 lens
Yeah I know what you mean. Nice choice of lenses 👍
Impressive little camera!
Thanks a lot, yes it is!

That is so cool, and a really nice price. Together with that lens you have a great little set-up - good luck! Thanks for watching the video 👍👍
Would you be able to provide the link to that please? The review and your comment got me pretty hyped up about this camera.

Thanks for watching and your comment, i know the camera has its limitations and I've not used an EP2 so not sure how it compares 👍
What are your olympus e-pl3 settings?
