      +kelseyyyyy2012 Western women have equal rights legally. Equality in the sense of 'being treated equally' socially/in every way possible will never happen due to sex interest and the fact that we are a sexual dimorphic species. Both men and women deal with different treatment based on their sex, as adults you deal with that.
      Ironically, men do lack several legal rights do women do have. Which is why 3rd wave feminism is such a joke.

    • @Lightitupp1
      @Lightitupp1 9 років тому +1

      ***** "We shouldn't be using "Well we are different and that's just the way things are" as an excuse to not treat people with dignity."
      Virtually noone is claiming this. The fact that we are different doesn't mean we don't have the same intrinsic value.
      "Rape is still extremely high against women."
      In the US, rape against men is higher.(prison rape). Besides that true, rape figure are too high. Not nearly as high as feminists claim but too high, even if it was a single one. But you know what also is high? Assault on men in general is much higher compared to women and men are 3x more likely to be the victims of homicides.
      " Domestic violence is still extremely high."
      Recent studies have showed that domestic violence is roughly 50-50 with women being more likely to be the initial aggressors.
      "Harassment is the norm."
      No it isn't. People in generally are very protective and sympathetic towards women.
      "Media treating women like sex dolls on tv and magazines--"
      Because men AND women buy more products if a beautiful woman is selling it to them via commercials etc. This is not to 'assert male dominance and lower the pecking order of women once again in the name of patriarchy', this is for economical reasons.
      And why do you interpret them showing a beautiful woman as them 'showing of a sex object'. Virtually noone see's them solely as 'an object'. Eventhough to a certain extent we all are.
      In Roman and Greek times men's bodies were ''objectified'' because they were deemed to be the right/perfect/ideal form. This is now the case in favor of women, yet somehow, this has to be turned into a negative by making wild accusations based on nothing but feminist rhetoric.
      "The right to control our bodies is still a controversial, hot topic and will be decided by men."
      In virtually every Western country women do have the choice. Just in some select redneck bible belt area they don't. And that should change I agree. But what about the complete lack of men's reproductive rights? Why can't men opt out of parenthood?(i'm not talking about forcing the woman to abort) I'm talking about a woman choosing, without the consent of the man to wanting to bring a child in the world, to keep the child and forcing him to pay child support. Why should he be responsible for a decision only she can make and did make?
      "It's not in our nature to yell "get back in the kitchen" "you're a c*nt. kill yourself" on the internet. That's not natural. That's our personal prejudices as a society. "
      You do realize that probably >95% of that is people joking and trolling right? They aren't being serious.

    • @kelseyyyyy2012
      @kelseyyyyy2012 9 років тому +2

      I feel like you said that when you said, "men and women deal with different treatment based on their sex, deal with that."
      But doesn't it say something that the thing men fear about going to prison with other men is what women fear about going out at night, going on a date, and everyday life?
      I see the 50-50 statistic being said a lot recently and this is mostly due to an article written by Cathy Young who is known for slanted journalism and taking incomplete statistics. Safehorizon.org, a violence agency for both men and women states that 1 in 4 women with experience domestic violence in her lifetime and women ages 18-34 are at greatest risk.
      Harassment is the norm. The comments you are talking about at the end telling people to kill themselves IS harassment and the fact that people see it as a "joke" in shown that is trivialized and the norm.
      I never said looking at a beautiful women is equal to objectifying. I never said any of that. You can be turned on and attracted to a beautiful woman and still know she is a three-dimensional person with a life and you are not entitled to her sex. Objectifying a person is when someone forgets that and doesn't care about their personhood, but feels entitlement to their body.
      The woman has to go through the pain, discomfort, and bodily changes for the rest of their lives. The only way a guy would choose that for her IS by making her abort. How can that change without forcing people to abort their babies?
      Those male statues are idealized. The statues of women were also idealized but they had a different body standard back then for what was a beautiful women.
      But they didn't have television, magazines, and didn't see over 100 ads a day back then. We are living in a very different time.
      It is a negative because it leads to eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and death. The first step to justifying violence against a person is seeing that person not as a person. It doesn't matter who buys the products, what matters is the subconscious messages and images people are seeing.
