It depends on the polymer you are adding it to. PTFE would be less likely to work in a polar polymer like Nylon, because it would have internal solubility. For a polar polymer use a non polar wax. For a non-polymer polymer use a polar wax. Insoluble additives are more likely to bloom to the surface. Once you get the additive to the surface, you can start worrying about the interface you are trying to prevent it to stick to. At that point, start researching slip additives.
