It's funny how they basically tried to make womp3d.
As someone who uses illustrator for work and blender for freelance work I think this might be useful for making shapes depending on how well they export.
Use plasticity for easier complex shape. No need for retopology if you're doing still renders.
womp is terrible tho
You can export vector from Neo. So easy to use.
@@DaveCardwell-yr7nv what do you do with what you export? You just have the same pre made cartoon style to everything you make? lol
As a professional Designer and 3D artist, I think this is exciting in a specific type of use case. Obviously super highly detailed models like hyper realistic characters aren't gonna be possible. But for lower fidelity work, this looks amazing. Especially because it offers a non-destructive way of making scenes that can be super quickly exported to SVG and PNG formats rather than needing to wait for a render to be exported. Hell, if they implement a good obj or fbx export from it (and the topology is actually usable) this could be super handy for quickly making super simple characters. Especially for designers who don't have a traditional modeling background. Lots of potential as a tool within a larger pipeline. Definitely not a replacement for anything but still super handy
Right away my head goes towards product artwork. I’m a product designer so being able to create 3D cartoon like models for different angles for instructions, build guides, specification sections, etc will be awesome. Super interactive way to make everything look professional.
This can actually be a replacement for me having to do 3d illustrations in Illustrator, since I can't 😮😊
If it ever gets to the point where you can download OBJ files?? Man, its game over. Adobe will have the edge yet again
This was a very informative video man. Subscribed
Great demo.
When exporting to photoshop, if there's not an alpha channel option in Neo, just export it as any solid background color. Preferably close to the color of the background that you plan to use in Photoshop. Green isn't necessary and can lead to green edges that need to be color corrected.
As an experienced blender user, everything up to the blending would be equally easy to inside of most 3d software. As for the blending, it most likely uses signed distance fields (SDF). there is a blender addon in the works that will add this exact functionality. There are several other programs that can also do this. This program looks great for beginners, but more technical users will definitely prefer more advanced programs.
You could do it since forever with metaballs in Blender.
Which add-on?
@@roofoofighter I think metaballs are different from SDF models
This is the fundamental modelling engine of Dreams PS4/5 and has been used for years by creators (like me) to model and make games.
The mathematical technique underlying the modeling engine in Dreams is often referred to as "volumetric rendering" or "point-based rendering." More specifically, the method Media Molecule uses involves **signed distance fields (SDFs)**. Signed distance fields are a mathematical representation where the value at each point in space indicates the shortest distance to a surface; the sign of the value indicates whether the point is inside or outside the surface.
This approach allows for smooth and flexible modeling, enabling complex shapes and interactions that can be manipulated in real-time. The "impressionistic" aspect you see in Dreams, where objects are built up from many small "flecks," is a practical application of these underlying principles, leveraging SDFs to create and manipulate volumetric data.
Adobe doing the most instead of just developing Dimension.. smh.
Adobe tried for to develop Dimension for more than a decade and just failed miserably.
Adobe bought Substance which has replaced Dimensions.
totally nerding out
Only for untrained Blender users this might be a quicker way to create a popsicle. But I’m all for less ‘complicated’ workflows to introduce new users to 3D :) The metaball functionality is pretty cool though!
It's awesome!!!!
Thanks for the video
The first I’ve heard about this and I can’t wait to try it! I use illustrator a lot and I’m glad they made a 3d program that works in a similar way
I'm honestly excited about this
Adobe really needs to start combining some apps. There’s too many and some should be unified.
Adobe-Omni 😄
totally superb stuff
This is insane! I thought the illustrator inflate tool was fun. But dang totally going to play with this.
If this will be updated to support modeling for 3D printing it should be a real game changer
Just seeing this and didn’t know. Can’t wait to go home a play with this app lol. Thank you
This is so dope!!!! I’m glad you did this video I knew nothing about this but now I’m about to get busy!!!!! Appreciate you keep the videos content and tutorials coming I’ve learned a lot 💪🏾
Hey really appreciate the support! More on the way 🤜🤛
Amazing workflow
So cool, thanks for showing it. I made something like it on Spline but it seems to be a lot easier.
This looks great although extremely surprised there is no option to actually export as a 3D file such as .OBJ or GLB? Or have I missed this somewhere?
This is 3d for babies
I would assume (not a statement) that's because the software is not creating usable geometry but it's own interpretation of a three dimensional enviroment. It's not dissimilar to the way illusytator handles 3D in the latest versions, but supercharged and made so it runs in the cloud.
@@omariparris.designNo, it's absolutely not. If Illustrations, 2d graphics like this are all you need 3d for, then this is a fantastic tool that can be used to speed up your workflow and be playfully creative with it. Complicated and overly complex doesn't equal grown up and professional, just as snobbery doesn't make one a pro.
This is SDF Signed distance field modeling
Possible to export STL's for 3D Printing?
The blending there is similar to Softimage's metaballs used on Terminator 2. In 1991. So there's that. Otherwise it's a bit Sketchuppy but way more up to date.
Super exciting. Opens so many doors for real.
This looks like a decent spline competitor, they call it Boolean rather than pathfinder but Neo looks a lot easier to use. I would like to see Neo integrate some basic interactions like hover states etc like Spline.
do they allow commercial use of whatever you do in it?
It seems to be limited to that clay look? After I signed in to my account I do not have the ability to create new projects. All I can do is open an existing community project. No menu at the top. Did that happen to anyone else?
as an illustrator guy, this is game changing in so many ways. can you export as STL?
its pretty much Womp 3D! The blending slider is a copy of the 'goop' effect in Womp
Womp isnt new its just metaball functionality
Delete cube, later inser cube
how is the geometry?
I feel like no export to obj/stl really kills this tool. Good for 2D I suppose but I feel like the average person who doesnt have any 3D experience would want beginner friendly 3D tools for 3D printing, game engine assets, etc. With the lack of export support I just question why I would bother with this over Womp3D, TinkerCad, etc. Even if I was just doing 2D graphics with this I would still prefer to avoid the vendor lock-in considering other similar tools already exist with similar quality and featureset.
You need to try plasticity! Super easy and very similar.
thats cool. Can you use it as a 3d object and take it to other apps like blender or unreal engine?
Can you export as stl?
If I can't download the 3d model, this is just made for graphics design. that's it. I hope they allow downloading to commonly used 3D design file types.
Can we export 3D models? Like OBJ FBX USD, etc.
Thank you! Tell me please, what is your browser?
Can I start a project by importing an Illustrator file?
Can you export obj/stl, etc?
No.
WOMP is already here!!!!
Isn't this similar to Spline 3D?
i think so yes
Looks like they share some similarities. Maybe I should make a follow up video comparing them!
@@KalebGonyea yes please
Can Spline export to SVG or illustrator format? I’m an illustrator so I would want it to work with a 2d vector program. I think Neo fills this need.
yeah, Adobe no longer innovates, they just copy whatever's popular at the moment.
So it's like a spline clone?
3:22 Blender has a default cube loaded at start. So it’s still faster than this.😅 and cheaper
I’m glad they’re thinking about the user who needs the occasional 3D model, but don’t want to invest too much time learning it from scratch especially if 3D is not what they do. Too complex, it defeats the purpose, but if it’s too basic it is also useless. The gallery wasn’t very encouraging. How many times can a designer have use for a bubble cartoon style model? If that is as far as they are planning, doesn’t look like something I will be using very often.
The way I use my models is in branding. Creating objects that have some semblance of realism to later layer a logo, patterns or elements to brand the object. Pending on the brand style, I may need the occasional semi-realistic or hyper realistic object. Not gonna lie, having to learn a 3D program from the ground up and model and texture for hours without end when all I really do is branding is not my cup of tea.
Is that replica of spline?
can you export to .fbx or .obj?
As of today I don’t think so, but it is still in beta, so I would expect it to come in later updates.
... and you will notice the problem with sdf's
@@KalebGonyea No universal export types renders the program worthless.
I will stick to spline and nomadsculpt thanks
Well, in Blender the cube exists already by default.
It kind of reminds me of a better version of Tinker Cad.
And what if … we export to firefly !!!!
I caught the Neo its for Neo from Matrix who can literaly alter the matrix 🤔🤔🤔
cone? what cone? 10:50
also whatever processing you use on your voice makes it sound artificial at times
Why does adobe fail on every 3d front except substance painter.
this is tinkercad 2.0 basically
isnt blender easier?
Blender is to complicated
just a simplified Autodesk Fusion 360
Kimusan 2012
Feels like almost a copy of Spline
Rip womp3d
Womp womp
Adobe doing more similar apps clones but none last🤦🏻
So they are abandoning After Effects?
No as this is totally different to after effects
WTF 👁💰👁
It's pronounced "BEH-zee-AY." It's a French name. Bézier.
No
Looks like a copy of blender
Not on any level.
No universal export types renders the program worthless.
Is this the future of?????? No
Is this the future of 3d ? Do you think it is the future of 3D . The worst designers are the ones who peddle BS to other designers.
Terrible!
