I speak as a guy that never liked Nords, even though I have owned three - I played the Stage 4. I think its a huge leap forward for stage keyboards. A complete game changer, a master class in stage keyboard design. At last great action too, and a decent piano. My only criticism is no 11 pin Leslie output.
it would indeed be cool, but i think their line of thought is that the keyboard already does this job by itself, so no need for any external gear, just plug it into PA or mixer. If you aren’t already familiar with, i would highly recommend the HX3 (3.5) Hammond emulator… From what i know its the absolute best Hammond emulation out there (even better than Nord), and it features an 11 pin output!
One important question… can you run three external devices and three synth sections at the same time? Or does the external mode “hi-jack” a layer so you cannot use it for the internal synth??
@@perruschke6691 2 stereo outs is just fine for me. What would been amazing is if it had 2 stereo inputs, so you could route the output of the external gear through the nord.
@@danieldion8825 If thats true, then in reality this means the Nord Stage 3 is capable of 8 layers with morphing at the same time(2organ+2piano+2synths+2external) but the new Stage 4 is only capable of 7layers (2organ +2pianos+1synth+2external). I don`t want to come along as a negative person(I love my stage 3 to bits), but this does not sound like an evolution for me! And I think one of the biggest selling point of the Nord, namely knob-pr function architecture, has also become Nords achilles heel. Due to the fact that you have a knob pr function, there is actually a physical limit to how much functionality you can add to the board before you have have to sacrifice previous functions. And THIS is exactly whats happening with the Stage 4 now. Yes we definately have new and cool functions, but : we have actually lost one layer (if you take the external section into account), song mode is gone(I think this was a huge mistake by Nord) and the dedicated external section is gone…
Thanks for the explanation. 2 questions: 1. Can pitch bender be configured to pedals ? (Why is there pitch bender in nord grand . 😢) 2. So the functionality of single pedal and 3 pedals are totally different ? Why would one have to buy both ?
Veramente molto bella, sinceramente ho una stage3 e sono molto soddisfatto ma questa ha delle chicche molto interessati. Grazie clavia che ci dà la possibilità di potere avere questi gioielli ❤
I would be completely sold if I can kick an awesome bass sound using the left split... I'm talking a bass that can cut through. I kick left hand bass and have yet to hear a full bass sound on the Nord Stage 4. other than that i'm very impressed.
Can each of the parts have a dedicated MIDI channel? For example can each of the three synth parts have an assigned MIDI channel if I wanted to sequence them externally?
Hi. Loving layout and keybed with this new NS 4 88. Keybed is really fast. How´s new compact is feeling? Song mode is nord stage 3 best tool for musician who plays in cover bands. I don´t know how I should organisate my songs/programs in NS 4. I use 3 to 5 programs / song intros, A, B C parts and with this new stage 4 it is impossible to have same kind of workflow for live gigs and change those multible programs quickly. I mostly play cover bands and I have around 100 top hit songs what I should handle with this new NS 4. With song mode it was really easy just swap those songs/multiple programs in right order and start playing. Also it was really fast to make new song from already saved program sounds. I don´t know how this new preset library will faster this setup. You can´t scroll preset library as a list mode. You can´t swap preset library order. Also I would like to have inside NS 4 synth that nord wave 2 sample library. All those keyboard sound are missing in synth engine and now I have to sample those in it with sampler.
I know it’s been said way too many times. But… I’ll say it again. No expansion of the piano memory? Really? No audio/midi interface via usb? Really? No more song mode? Really? All of these cool upgrades that were needed and then a huge price increase. $5600 USD. Really? Hey I’ve owned 2 stage 3’d a wave 2 and still own a piano 5. I’m not a Nord hater (loved the wave 2) but the omission of the aforementioned functions and the inclusion of a huge price increase will finally stifle my impulsive nature to go out and buy this. Did Nord even bother to ask it’s users how they could improve the product? If so, did they listen? How much more would it of cost Nord to just increase the piano memory?
2:09 now it’s clear for me that this fader “feature” super sucks… the moment you move the fader, the LED indicator (which represents the real volume ) instantly snaps to the position of the fader, which makes this piano so useless in live situations, cuz it makes drastic changes to the sound… the infinite knobs where the best solution, and all the knobs should be replaced with them, so you don’t have to use this stupid “monitor” button… I was hoping that that’s gonna be the upgrade between 3 and 4. Now it’s obvious that bunch of morons worked over this project for so many years, just to make it suck even more… and I was just about to upgrade… 🤦🏻♂️
@@andreievkalupniek5717well, they might be morphable, so that you control the volume with wheel or control pedal, but it still doesn’t help with using the very fader. Dexibell put motorized faders to their stage piano, Nord could do the same, since it’s overpriced like apple products…or the could leave those infinite knobs and add 4 more for new layers…
In the US, the cheapest is the Compact, which is $4900. The HA73 is $5400. It's not because of import taxes, or else the other imported keyboards would be priced similarly.
The 4 Compact has the same keys as the Stage 3 Compact, but there's a 3rd sensor added, so it feels more responsive. The HA keys are similar to the HA keys on the Stage 2, but also with a 3rd sensor added. This is a big improvement over the HP, or whatever the crappy Stage 3 piano action was called.
An absolutely great instrument, would it be possible to introduce a variant with reverse delay for the delays?

After looking thru the manual yes I believe so
Where can we buy that red NORD hoodie that he's wearing?!
I see NS4 doesn’t has song mode anymore. Is there any features to replace or has same capability with the Song Mode?
I think it needs more knobs
Hey Clavia-Nord! Come to Brazil! Open an store here! From São Paulo! Please😄🇧🇷
What key bed action can you compare the Nord Stage 4 compact 73?
What are the monitors here ?
Loving my new 4 compact great video Rob Nord have knocked it out of the park with this one , I do miss song mode though!

Why is this keyboard $6000.00? That's not logically sound for the majority of musicians.
If you live in the US I guess it’s mostly because of import taxes. I live in Norway and here it costs 4800$
