I just love that final couple of sentences.
"Man, this is starting to feel like a job. You wanna spice things up by punching a phoenix?"

This is the essence of KD:M. Going up against the unknown, getting mostly destroyed by it, and leaving with only the realization that the one who died was the lucky one.

These constant twists... "Yeah, i guess were back in the game! Yeah, draw two hits! This is working out........ Ooooooooh........ that is bad, that is really bad! Thats about as bad as it gets!"

Good job on the Kings Man. All things considered, you did pretty well. That -1 speed token on the critical early on was key to you winning this. By the way, rolling on the Battle Pressure table is not so bad and can give you a very powerful secret fighting art that makes it much easier to beat the Kingsman. Dual Katars also work very well for clearing out those battle pressure cards.

George - I've done the dual katars before, and totally agree. We just didn't end up going with the cat armor this time. I think we had tried to build another katar but ended up not having a claw. Oh well, we were able to take him out at least which was awesome. I'll have to look more closely at the Battle Pressure - I thought it was pretty freakin' risky, but maybe it's not as bad as I am thinking..

1 in 10 chance of getting it, though. Worth the risk, IMO. Just happened a week past, during my last playthrough: my character, The Final Doogstination*, had the opportunity to roll on the table.
Me: I'm going to try to dance with him.
Friend: NOoO! You're going to die. Or get crippled. Or die. Or take a leg damage. Or die.
Me:*rolls a lantern 10 while looking the nay-sayer in the eyes*
I was already set to tank with an Oxidized Lantern Sword-blood paint- leather shield combo, and I dominated the rest of the fight. That fighting art controlled the whole battle.
*My characters, after the first, we're all inspired by movie sequels. Doog 2, Electric Boogaloo; Revenge of Doog; Return of Revenge of Doog; Legacy of Return of Revenge of Doog; The Doogfather Part 6; The Dooglander 7, the Quickening; and The Final Doogstination.

Story of the Goblin allows your tank to pull Agro, but gives the monster a +1 token to keep you from abusing it. Story of the Forsaker can get you the Forsaker mask to use in building the Mask Maker location, without the ambiguous and complicated wording of getting the mask in the Butcher fight.

Story of the Goblin, example. V Kingsman L1.
Eq: Full set Rawhide, Monster Grease, dagger-> Blood Paint-> Leather Shield combo.
Situation: two knocked down survivors, your character is standing, and you know Coup de Gras is his next AI.
On your turn, you would recite the story, and gain the Priority Token, and the Kingsman gets a +1 token. Move to blind spot. Roll to attack with dagger. Surge(rawhide roll) and activate blood paint, gaining 2 block tokens, and an extra dagger activation. Dash(rawhide roll) and full move away from knocked down allies. End turn. Monster turn; refreshes Survival actions. Kingsman targets you, basic action. Priority targeting. Full moves to you, swings. Burn block tokens/ Dodge(rawhide.) Knocked down allies now out of range of Coup de Gras. Basic action targeting you. Surge (rawhide) activate shield -> +2 blocks.
Sure, he now has a +1 token, but the risk v reward is you just got 6 attack rolls, and ignored up to 4 wounds, AND guaranteed that your KD'd survivors are not head stabbed, and can now stand.

Wow, that's awesome Douglas, thanks for laying that out - for real. That's a level of strategy we haven't gotten to yet. And I didn't know you could surge on a blood paint and gain both. We probably don't use our rawhide headbands enough.. Definitely some good info to chew on!

@@PrattskiTheTabletopGamer Surge gives you an Action to spend as you like. You spend the Action on Blood Paint, which activates the weapon on its left and right.
If you want to get really silly, you can place Blood Paint in the bottom left corner of your gear grid, with a Beast Katar to its right. Place another Katar somewhere else. Now Blood Paint is pointing at Fist and Tooth, AND your Katar, which is paired with the second elsewhere. Now you're rolling 6 dice to hit, and each potential wound Deadly.

Getting the Forsaker Mask is great from white Speaker, as you can use it to build the mask maker location

    • @PrattskiTheTabletopGamer

True.. But, it just seems so risky. If you do the math overall, I'm just not sure it's really worth it.

Remember that the Rawhide Armor lets you GAIN a survival point on a successful roll after SPENDING a survival. You don't 'keep' it. I bring this up because your Thrill Seeker would be getting 2 survival back when he uses the Rawhide's ability.
SPEND 1 survival-> roll 6+-> GAIN 1 survival from Rawhide and 1 from Thrill Seeker.

Whoa, Douglas, you're right! That makes Thrill Seeker even better! Thanks for pointing that out!

Did you film this whole episode before I let you know about the rule for no doubling up gear? You can now see why it is not legal to use two pieces of monster grease... That OP evasion tank... Edit: I wrote this comment right before he got disembowelled! (Jinx!)

George - Yep.. For a while there we were 3 episodes recorded ahead. At this moment, we've got 2 recorded. So - yeah.. Sometimes even after hearing feedback and making corrections, it will take a couple/few episodes before implemented. And hah, yeah.. Even an OP evasion tank can get screwed :)

I hate when this game falls in its piñata mode. Every swings and misses, and when hit, no real damage....

It's the worst! That's when dice mechanics feel like they suck. But, that's KDM! And I'm fine with that. Makes thing interesting and hard to predict.

    What a rough ride!
The crit at 36:10 (and 42:30) changed everything in your direction! Remember how close it was. And then rethink the whole battle with one more speed for the King’s Man!
    Further comments:
+ Doubling up Monster Grease and Lucky Charms. Are you kidding??
This ruins the game balance in general and spared you several hits.
+ You missed it several times that the King’s Man attacks with a range of 2. E.g. 1:18:40 when it would have hit the knocked down survivor too! (Who did the final hit later on…)
+ 35:40 The guys on BGG think that you have to replace the Battle Tempo cards no matter what your gear is. But I don’t like this RAW logic (I prefer RAI and house ruled it otherwise). There are so many of these cards and with RAW the fight is next to impossible to win without King’s Step.
+ 45:40 You’re so wrong with rolling the 5! You just hit once and critted with a 9. Some combat rounds take so long and it is therefore easy to confuse some facts. That’s why you should never allow to change things afterwards. And now remember how hard to it was to get rid of the last wound...
+ 1:20:45 the right time for a once in a lifetime reroll!!
+ For the White Speaker: Chances to roll the best stuff are not very high but you have rerolls
Story of the Goblin can save someone’s life (near the end of a showdown). Move the survivor (a supporter of course) away from the fight and speak the first sentence at the right moment.
Story of the Forsaker can give you the Forsaker Mask. You need the Forsaker Mask for the Mask Maker. It’s very hard to get otherwise (Butcher Level 3 arrives that late in the campaign and it is hard to roll the mask). There are some really good masks and some others unlock a Legendary Monster. Story of the Young Hero can give you an enormous stats boost and the story itself is useful if you’re in urgent need of a Survival (but you better have Bandages at hand). This is even better with the unlocked (awesome!) rare gear from the White Speaker mini. Then you really want the White Speaker story event! Promised.
