I use the egg for decoration as I usually only get it when I’m in creative I never get into the end in survival also instead of using the dragon egg for the bottom of the lamp you could also replace the egg with a end rod facing upwards.

Grain structure voids work a lot better than barriers in a lot of situations. The prop up water, lava, and gravity blocks but players can still walk through them.

*Grian you know you don't have to use string you could put 2 block high flowers and put the carpet on top then remove the block the flowers are on and you have a floating carpet!*

No, that would be less effective because once the block gets updated, the carpet breaks
I thought you could only do that by using sand. It would also make sense with carpets.
So that Grian and anyone else can have more options to make a block float and you wont see anything holding it up
