Finding this series is like finding a very large, brilliant cut, flawless diamond among the many, many pebbles of a river bed. Thank you so much for this unexpected gift.
Thank you so much, these tapes were a major part of my childhood, loved the distinctive voice of Stephen Moore, its definitely the best version. I've tried various narrators but this is the only one.... Thank you for time and energy, in bringing these stories back to life
You are very welcome! I've rescued a few more books on tape on my channel, including a couple more Stephen Moore ones, which you might like to check out :) Oh, and a few of my own ;)
I remember when I first heard this story and being disappointed that it was largely set on Earth. Or at least, an Earth of sorts . I needn't have worried, the story is as good as any of it's predecessors, maybe more so. Thank you for sharing this recording.
My brother passed the first book along to me after reading it in 1981/2. I went on to read all of them but over time I had favourites for many years. I read “Life the Universe and Everything” over 20 times and currently SLATFATF is my favourite. It was such a treat to find the audio version and especially read by Stephen Moore. It feels like the original and real one and I am enjoying it immensely.
I don't mean to be too much, but for goodness sake, all this quarantine business has made the discovery of this gem all the more important. Perfect entertainment/sleep aid.
Back in the day this was my favourite book, mindyou I loved them all. Had all the books and the detective gently books too and lent them out...never got them back, so many years later bought a box set of all of them. Douglas was such a genius, love him. Thank you for sharing these recordings. Is there a part 5?
Hi Doctor Alex! :-) I just wanted to drop this here, I can't explain to you the joy these bring me mate, I have listened to your intro on many a stressful night! When i first found these i was suffering with quite a bad bout of depression, I was in bed for a week when some higher power must've allowed me to find your uploads, Just knowing that i could 'get an early night', and listen to these back to back for hours, man.... It allowed me to keep my sanity! All your effort was for something my friend! I'm 21 now and everything’s so much better but one thing is still implanted in my routine- my Hitchikers guide to the galaxy marathons! 😋 i'm trying to get my girlfriend into this, she's a bit older and remembers the originals on the radio you must've heard! :-D Thanks again Doctor Alex, Tom! :) (Edited for brevity! 🤣) cheers 🍻
Thank you so much for leaving this incredibly meaningful message. I am continually amazed at how much impact these recordings have had, and continue to have on so many people's lives. When I made the transfers of these cassette tapes and uploaded them as UA-cam videos I did wonder if I was doing so for an audience of one, so I just knew I would have a handy place to listen and have access to them. I am so glad they have allowed old fans and new alike to appreciate Stephen Moore's amazing reading of Douglas Adams fantastic writing. Both are sadly missed. I am even more happy that they have helped you.
This book doesn't fit into the series in a most excellent way, after the preceding tales it is wonderful for things to go well for Arthur, in every way.

Wow. That is possibly one of the most beautiful and kind comments I have ever read. Thank you.

A democracy ruled by lizard people. This book writes itself.
