The metalwork of the record boxes clasps and handles will rust quite quickly. Although that 'brightwork' is plated, it is actually very thin and the underlying metal soon starts rusting in even slightly damp conditions. Just mask off the areas and spray/brush paint those areas now to prevent the rust. I sorta know this because in the past I've had record boxes stored in a shed.

Agree to disagree - it is really sturdy. I've had this laptop since 2012, upgraded the HDD to SSD, changed thermal paste regularly and cleaned it regularly and it still works great. It's quality.

Thanks for the informative video! For those who are only trying to find how to do this the correct way: 1. Install linux mint/ ubuntu on SATA drive with no other drive plugged in. 2. Install mint/ ubuntu on NVMe with nothing else plugged in. 3. Boot into linux from SATA drive with both plugged in. Install all updates and grub customizer. (not sure you even need it) 4. Go to /etc/default/grub file and put a # in front of GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 and GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden to comment them out to ensure grub shows up. 5. run sudo update-grub to apply changes, and change order in grub-customizer if necessary. You can now boot from the NVMe drive via the grub on your SATA install. Was able to get it running on NVMe drive on t430. Both must be plugged in and this is a limitation of the older thinkpads not being able to natively see NVMe but grub can 👍
