Yes i like his personality much better than **cough** Chris, I can't stand that monkys antics behind the wheel but watch Chris video driving the F40, just woaw his oversteering of the F40 was absolute perfection driving. Here Tiff seems not a good and confident enough driver to push the F40 to that level.
The ultimate Ferrari in my opinion...just a bare-bones driving machine, the way it's meant to be.

doalwa Its a big go kart with wings, a lot of flair, lovely engine, and a lot of pedigree. The F40 has that ugly squary look but that makes it even more unique and beautiful in the end. Its incredible how the fact of being what it is changes our perception to its beauty. Like Matterazi said, if it doesnt perform like it does people would not love it. But being the faster and beastier makes it even more special. Some people say that it seems to have more than 1000hp than the 480hp announced. Probably due to power to weight ratio. Have in mind that it weighs 1100kg in a very large car with very large tyres.

@@fernandofragoso4118 I'd disagree with your post. The F40 are squarish in a classic antique way and that is a proven timeless beauty. Look at antique marble temples and columns, it's all square but the proportion are just right. The F40 is probably the most beautiful looking sportscar ever.

***** you're fried, this broke way more ground than an f1 furthermore, the italian approach to cars is way more passionate than any other car building nation. in italy (and I'm italian) its not a car, its a moving piece of art, the art work is in the craftsmanship and the design and thats why makes it special. the f1 was just built to be a fast car

Every supercar should be made like the Ferrari F40 or the McLaren F1. Manual transmission, lightweight, RWD, and no driver assists. Just a pure raw element of its own. They say that you shouldn't meet your heroes. But the F40 is different. It is one of the only cars that you will not be disappointed when you meet it or driven it.

The F40's rival wasn't the Countach, it had already been out for a few years, and I'm guessing Ferrari already knew it wasn't that good. The car the F40 had to beat was the Porsche 959.

The F40 revolutionized car design like nothing else in time. Both sides of the pond. So many newer people reviewing cars literally have no idea how much the F40 birthed the cars they're giving nothing but loves to.

+mermaltim68 While I know what you mean by that (I still remember my Road N Track mag that pitted the two head to head... boyhood wetdreams) but because the F40 was released some 3 years before the Diablo, and the F40 was nearing the end of it's life cycle production wise, that's why he said the Countach 5000qv was the rival. Might have been better to say the Porsche 959 as the rival, but lets face it, when you say rival and Ferrari you only think Lamborghini.

34 years and it's still the most testosterone-laden, ball-draggin, beauty in the entire lineup.
Safe to say every little boy (and grown man) back in the 80s had a poster of this car on his wall.
Universally acknowledged as the GOAT. It was actually Enzo’s son, Dino, who championed the lightweight, rear mid-engined V8 design over the front-engined V12 favored by his father. Sadly, he died of a muscular wasting disease at the age of 23. It is fitting, then, that the greatest Ferrari ever made bears witness to his influence.

Clarkson burns tires off cars, Tiff DRIVES them! One requires talent, the other requires tires.
He drives like that for show. If he drove properly mixed with their editing it would be boring as hell.
Actually altough i don't like his roller coster and fake shouts and talks behind the wheel, chris harris drove the F40 the best. You can see him oversteering so perfectly in the entire curve, something tiff is unable to do and looks frisky and lacking in his own driving skills here. Let's not talk about Clarkson.

I was 12 the first time I’ve seen an f40, she was in a petrol station in to a desolate countryside and I remember it was a large nice straight road for more than a mile long, empty...when she left, I was expecting a big sound but nothing... I was so disappointed about that...
After a few hundred yards the driver was pushing the gas all the way down and the I heard her angry screaming for all that straight mile... the twin turbos was pushing the car like a jet! I never had another emotion like that in my life again... I never listened such a good music like that! She will stay into my heart for the rest of my life...

testament of the great work done by Ing. Nicola Materazzi who designed the car "from the front number plate to the rear number plate" and to thrill Enzo Ferrari rather than to please Fiat management. Although it could never compete against the money-no-object approach of the later McLaren F1, it still thrills drivers to this day thanks to its focus on agility and involvement. Grazie Ingegnere.
I saw an F40 on the road in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. It is the only hypercar I have ever seen being driven.
I've been a Ferrari fan since I was 8 years old. And If I have the money, F-40 is my #1 choice in cars. Then Ill buy the 458 speciale.
Never get tired of watching this. There's a nice interview by Davide Cironi to the man who designed this car, he also designed the stratos. A visionary who made miracles whenever short-minded CEO's decided to let him pursue his ideas without compromising. The f40 is so driver focused because only one mind designed it from rear to front bumper. The guy was also a turbo specialist at the time, he had a japanese firm custom build the turbo for the f40
the turbos were not custom, Maserati used them one Biturbos before Ferrari
The QV came out in 1985 and was at the end of its life cycle. A 288 Gto would be a fairer comparison which came out in 1984.

I remember having an F40 poster in my bedroom when everybody had Bros and New Kids On The Block ... The framed picture of a Countach is still there I think.
Always loved them both. I will have them both eventually, although the running costs have made me think twice about the F40.
£250K? You wont get one for less than £650K now, amazing how quickly these things are going up in value!

Good advice back then, selling for over 1 mil US today. F40's DO NOT have rubber fuel cells, and do not need to be replaced every 10 years, shame on whoever told you this... Love your enthusiasm for the car, I feel the same way...

Absolutely have loved the F40 ever since I was a little kid and still do. Someday I shall get in one and have the biggest smile on my face. Got to love Tiff!! Still to this day no car is as raw and amazing in every way for it's year. What a machine! Perfection!
since i was 7 years old i loved the f40, when i showed pictures of it to class mates they would be like " eeee thats crap thats ugly a lamborghini is better" now im 15 i still love it....and in school people still say the same crap, they show me pics of a lambo aventador saying thats a "hard car" except your car in a way is godamn audi....they just dont know cars, they will choose looks over performance and history, which an f40 has it all.

already has been proven in several tests around the world, this car yields over 600hps and go over 360km / h-225mp / h stock, not to mention the special versions that come to 900hps "then the F40 GTE Michelotto" really is an incredible car, and remembering that the weight ranges from 870kg to 1100kg, I hope one day to have one, today I am still in my Scuderia 2009 but maybe one day ...
Why compare the 2, when one is obviously so much older, and wasn't build for the same purpose as the F40. Please bring on the 9five9 we can never get enough of these 2 super Heros!

My all-time favorite. Regarding the 13.000,00 fuel tanks.
I think it is cheaper to get a US model that has aluminum tanks that almos need no replacement.
