I have RA with CRP of 40 so i am a right off 😑- by the way i don't smoke or drink - eat healthy too, goes to Show you can do the right thing but still end up unwell. Just learnt appreciate life, each day is a blessing
Thank you to both of you, very important information, learned a lot now I know how to be fully involved with my care next time I see my endocrinologist. Well explained ❤❤❤❤
I have found no doctor willing to request that CTX and P1 NP marker test be given… I can only pay for them myself out-of-pocket at an outside agency. Do you know something that can change this for me? Also, you stated that CTX over 400 meant that you were actively losing bone But you did not give a result for P1NP. What would that be. lastly, where would I get your printout for test? I could not find it on the podcast. Thank you in advance for your answers.
I feel your pain. The US “health care” system is truly an abomination. One thing that really helped me was getting the book “Great Bones” by R Keith McCormick. It clarified many things. You will then want to find an endocrinologist to navigate forward-if your PCP is anything like mine, he or she has no idea what a bone marker even is! Good luck to you.
In Dr. McCormick's book - Great Bones - Dr. McCormick shaes the values he uses clinically - Here is what he says about PINP - When the P1NP goes lower than 20 μg/L, that indicates there isn’t enough osteoblastic activity to keep up with the osteoclasts. Above 60 or 70 μg/L, may indicate excessive bone turnover - often the case with osteoporosis. If it goes over 90 μg/L I worry about a compression fracture.” Also - this is a great podcast episode I did with Dr. Keith McCormick about bone turnover markers - ua-cam.com/video/33pk0AQ8Bw8/v-deo.html .
Thank you dear Mrs.Bissinger for this episode! It is very helpful and informative! Gongratulations for your serious work on the subject, which is so subtle and quite complicated. You supply us with some of the best information concering this extremely important health issue. It is true that doctors' sugestion is medication as the first step! But there are also serious side efects. That is why is not easy to work on buldind bone desnity. I ll keep watcing your pods, whishing you all the best!
I am 68 yr old. Diagnosed with osteoporosis last year. Of cours told to take Calcium, Vit. D and put Risedronate. Was not referred to rheumatology or endocrinology. Some repeat bloodwork. No repeat Dexa. Should I be seeing these specialists?
You two are amazing and very helpful! Just dx with OP, very overwhelming, only in my 50s, I feel better equipped now on what to ask Endo. to get some baseline labs etc. Rheum., & pcp forcing me to take fosomax and not do any testing 😔, hopefully Endo Dr. will be more willing to do testing. Thank you so very much, I feel a little better after watching you both share good information! 🙏🏻
Glad we could help!. You should hopefully be able to find a doctor who will order these tests. Don't give up! The good news is, there's so much that can be done to improve your bones and overall health.
Margie, During your interview with Dr Barre Tan he said his product is beneficial to bone health. Can you get him back on and not go through his whole annato plant story but specifically ask how we should take GG and Tocotrienol? Should we take calcium, k2, d, GG and tocotrienol together? I’ve had to change the way I eat adding fat to my meals. So I added nuts but they contain E with tocopheryl which work against tocotrienol . How long after taking tocotrienol can we eat a meal with tocopheryl? A lot of food contain Vitamin E. These are expensive and I don’t want to waste my money and I want to benefit my bones. Can you help me get these answers?
Fantastic podcast episode. Thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge in such a clear, concise way (and with such warmth too)

@@Gypseygirls thank you for that! ❤️
All you are going to get is the recommendation to go on drugs - no traditional doctor will actually do tests to figure out why you are losing bone.
Where do I find the show notes?
Hello! The shownotes is usually found below the video here on UA-cam. It's the description. Hope that helps!
